Their RTW line already costs a mind-blowing RM2500 with bespoke starting from RM4000. If I'm rich, I'd get myself a flight ticket to Savile R. with that money. IINM, Granoff demands a few more of your limbs for full canvassing.

Moreover, they had to use a pic of Dr.M in his nehru collar jacket. Preposterous, I say! They should have used a better model, like kokmj who looked murderously dashing in his blood-stained mao jacket posted a few pages back.

Just because they're neighbours to some overpriced designer labels??

They demand a premium but at least they can still churn out something fine, like Lanatir's suit.
You are still better off spending your hard-earned money at Granoff's instead of visiting their neighbours.

QUOTE(sasuke123 @ Aug 1 2010, 06:07 PM)
any of you chose velvet material as your tailored suit?
*
I reread your post a few times as I thought I needed a pair of reading glasses at my age. It boggles my mind: why would you choose velvet for a suit?
I do not see much versatility there as most gents would only wear a velvet jacket to casual parties coupled with a pair of wool slacks. Afaik, velvet suits are generally frown upon.

Eh? I thought it was Kelvin who had a suit made at Granoff's, instead of David?

3 possibilities:-

1. You've beaten AL into submission & he's decided to make your pants with a higher rise or,
2. Antonio Ambrosi made a pair of pants for you or
3. You've discovered a new "pantalonaio" (trouser maker)

i would like to ask if is it possible to shorten the length of a formal shirt? because it is too long for me
*
Yes you can shorten it but the question is should you? Having longer shirt tails ( within reason ) helps stop your shir from riding up your trousers .

Beau,

Are those buttonholes handsewn? They look extraordinary.
*
Yes they are. The button were sewn to sit on a purl & not on the fabric to ensure the longevity of the fabric

None of the abufe. Here's another pic to demonstrate the utter, unbelievable, total lack of cost consideration of this pair of trousers.

Added on August 3, 2010, 12:19 amI just put on the above-pictured trousers and the waist fits perfectly, i.e. the previous owner was as lean as myself. However, the legs are baggy beyond belief. This gives me an idea of just how incredibly baggy traditionally-cut trousers are. Very, very baggy.

At least it won't be crotch constricting a' la ALT. Any plans to have him replicate this in a slim down design?

I'm still grappling with the concept of exceptionally baggy trousers: the whys and wherefores; the aesthetics, kinematics, and functionality. Why did this change? Why are contemporary trousers so slim, while vintage ones so full? Is it really just a matter of fashion, or are there more tangible reasons?

its for the functionality----most people nowadays dont do much hardwork in dress pants anymore,,,,,they can live with slim / fitted cloth
for the hardwearing people they require full cut trousers (at thigh / seat area), w/ gusseted crotch
ive modeled my trouser from ben davis pants,,,looked baggy in the mirror (anti-hip apperance) but nevertheless most comfortable for daily rough works,,,,
just look at how the 501 jeans has evolved----

Added on August 3, 2010, 7:46 pmI put on Zuperpent+ during the lunch hour, this time properly with braces, and once again after work (I'm wearing it right now), and wow, just wow. I now understand what the line is all about. Zuperpent+ isn't baggy, it is perfect when worn with braces. I totally understand why old dead men wanted their trousers this way.
