Hi Guys,

As Persona is selling at a affordable price, I believe their digital meter is also those lower in accuracy and durability.

My company rented about 5 persona for the Mat Salleh to use, all 5 persona shows different mileage petrol consumption calculation even though all of them driving the same route to work daily. They even exchange the cars and its proven different reading. So, the accuracy is not there.

As long as its working, its ok. I used to own a Wira auto 1.5cc, the meter is always spoiled especially the RPM dial. After changing new one, it can last only 6-12mths. Was really piss off with Proton quality.

I dont know whether they have improved.

I am thinking of buying a Persona for my wife. How is the Persona?

1) Fuel consumption?
2) Build quality?
3) NVH?
4) Road handling?

What is the latest promotion? Any good discount?

Regards.

@leongwk15
so far, based on my 1year 9months of ownership of persona 1st batch....well, no major issues despite my driving styles are rough at times.....

1) Fuel consumption? full tankrm65 300-330km, mix with highway and city+jam....
2) Build quality? ...normal.....so far, interior no squeaks or rattling.....
3) NVH? much super better than waja 4g18, and previous protons..., engine sound is well refine and engine not noisy when cruising on the highway....
4) Road handling?... good, got confidence to go highspeed with almost no floating or vibration feel

FC RM65 for 300-330km is quite high. About RM0.20/km.

I heard some says the FC is about RM0.14-0.15/km.

Any others owner care to comment?

leongwk15, an honest opinion from me would be the Campro isn't the best when it comes to fuel efficiency, and for better or worse, there's the bad habit of comparing the 1.6 engine to Myvi's 1.3 engine. 0.18-0.20/km is for me is acceptable for a 1.6, 1200kg car, as for some users reporting 0.14-0.15/km is actually achievable in the highway driving. In fact most most modern cars can get good fuel consumption when driving on the highway at constant speed.

As for the ang-mohs reporting different FC from the meter, please put in mind that the digital meter shows *average* fuel consumption and not instantaneous fuel consumption which one would like to think. You can try to ask each of them to reset the current FC reading and see how it goes. However, it might be possible that one unit consumes more fuel than the other because the engine tuning might be off (like in my case sad.gif)

drive and enjoy.

ps, i still dun understand why ppl still comparing the so powderful dvvt with diff class car.

jus curious.. I really think even the new batch or persona has a fuel tank capacity of 40 litters only. Despite people saying its 50..

cause normally we all pump Rm65 which equals to atleast 35 litters.. the manual says tat at 8 litters remaining the “fuel empty” indicator will light up. MY indicator lights up whn I have like 40km left.. that’s like 4 liter of fuel remaining for me.. and my indicator would hit 0.
Anyone actually did a manual check how much our tank can really fill up max too??

Which translates to a total of  40liter (35 pump + 4 remaining)

If it was a true 50 liter tank.. tat would be great!!!

Hi ruztynail...

i'm kindda new here but i think i got the answer of ur question.
I've had attended some car regulation seminar by JPJ around early this year & they talk about this fuel tank, fuel gauge and fuel warning thing..
in that seminar, the JPJ guy said by regulation for 1.3 car, fuel warning kick-up when u got around 3L of fuel left in the tank.
on 1.6 fuel warning kick-up when u got around 6L of fuel left in the tank. but then he said except for Proton. For ALL proton car the fuel warning kick-up when actually there is around 10L of fuel in the tank..!!!!!!! whistling.gif - i dunno la why like this la. I think tat y people complaining about proton car suck more fuel. vmad.gif

i suppose sumone have to test... fill the tank up to full, and drive until minyak kering..note how far u go.. (...km???)
then isi full balik - note the how much the fuel goes in.. (.. L) then u get the accurate km/L calculation.. icon_rolleyes.gif smile.gif

This would be kinda strange, bcos NONE of the SC mechanics, technicians or the "EXPERTS" from PESC aware of this, and inform us about it, while a 'typical' guy from JPJ, 'INFORMED' you about this...!?!?!??!?!?!?
What and why had PROTON done to deceive and mislead it's customers?

i think i do heard PROTON claim some time ago (maybe during persona or savvy launching). It said that "Even with fuel warning is ON, Proton cars can still go about 100km more before completely out of petrol"
Let see, take the worst case proton fuel consumption ~ 10km/L , 100km will consume about 10L. This all make sense.
Please do correct me if i'm wrong.

ok i heard most of u complained that the SC people pour the engine oil all 4 Liter of it. correct?

i sent mine recently for my 1st 1k service. bfr my car was a waja with the old mitsubishi engine. the sc dude pour 3.75liter atleast.. i asked him if (jus to test him) why not full. he thn claimed after susah nak tekan pedal.

so far so good...

thn whn its my turn to service my car.. the same dude.. pour all of the contents.. i was like wtf... i asked him back."apasal tadi u kata bukan semua, sekarang u kasi taruk semua."

he said, "semua campro tuang habis.." you check "meter" memang tepat tepat"

i was speechless.. check it on site, outside the service area.. it was abit beyond the max line..

i honestly rather hv it below the max line. rather thn above..

really hate it whn thy dont allow us near the car whn thy do the repairs.. i know its rules and regulation. but atleast we know wat thy are doing to our cars..

anyone wanna comment on the 3.75liter as to SC pouring 4 liter??

@ruztynail
the standard is 3.7liters is also more than enough....let me show u my recent oil change bottle where the oil balance after pouring till the max line and the remaining in the bottle left.....

*the circle and line i draw is the oil remain in the bottle* and the dipstick shows 1mm-2mm below FULL.....imagine SC pour whole bottle.... thumbup.gif

@mr_ashraf
yeap...another satisfied 1st batch user.... brows.gif and seriously, i have more confident driving persona compare to waja 4g18 laugh.gif feels more stable sweat.gif

You are right. But then, when the fuel warning turns on, it means we have another about 7L - 10L, and we pump in only about 30L - 33L max, or about RM58 - RM65 max. Total would be around 37L - 40L max. Where's the remaining 10L - 13L? You know what I mean?
Therefore, you and I, would also expect that Persona has a capacity of 40L fuel tank, in contrast to what the owner's manual had claimed.

Rustynail,
As to the PESC/EON mechanics pouring 4L of engine oil into the engine, I also faced the similar situation. So I went to my common mechanics for further explanations, they too told me that Campro engines need 4L. I was speechless...

KKW,
It all depends on the PESC/EON centres that you approach. As for the centre that I went, they did not allow me to bring my own engine oil. So I asked why? The boss told me that I might purchase a 'fake' kinda engine oil outside! So, you try your luck.
By the way, the centre that I went uses SHELL helix 10/40 for all its services. Nevertheless, I was pleased by that. No complaint.

This is the blardy problems with most of the mechs around. My MyVi and Kelisa at home everytime i sent it to service at SC, they ALWAYS ALWAYS OVERFILL. And everytime i screw them and even complained to their HQ and have them drain my oil on site.

So now i service outside, i always keep a sharp eye on them especially when pouring the oil. Some argued say that later my engine burnt. I said as long as the oil level is between Low and max the engine has more than enough oil to run properly.
