Dear All,
I sent my car to this workshop at Jalan Kilang, opposite Campbells soup factory, few days ago, because I had a minor accident at the front. Today I got back my car. Guess what? My car's petrol tank cover lid (screwed to the car body), was swapped with other car's cover...!!! How did I know? The label inside was different...and 1 nut was missing...!!! Other genuine parts have not been detected swapped or missing, yet.
Gosh...Please beware of these kinda shit workshops...
*
ouchhh...I noticed another thing they swapped today...!! My silicon wiper...they swapped with the common type...!!!
Gosh....I really dunno how many unseen things they had swapped...!!!
Please be careful guys....oh gosh...

I saw a banner the other day, at the corner workshop near Seapark:
BP2000 (20/50) + proton oil filter + labour = RM65
Castrol (20/50) + proton oil filter + labour = RM75

Labour they charge RM8 only....inclusive!!! Clean and clear...

For this process, proton sc took 2 hrs plus, while other reputable shops take only 10 mins...

Nothing is free for Proton...
It costs >RM1000, and the map interface sucks...the 'lousiest' map direction loaded in...the latest GPS comes with map version 3.13.
I tested it from PJ to PD...such a lousy direction it suggested, and not driver-friendly at all...
Garmin and the rest of the brands' interface are far more better and the price are cheaper than this Lokatoo thingy, comparatively...
However, it'll serve as basic entry GPS.

Hi!,

I'm getting Persona M-line from my relative who is a Proton SA. However, he's in Seremban and I would like to register my car under Perak plate.

Can I go to JPJ and reserve a plate number for it? how to choose number? Not very familiar with JPJ registration rules. Can anyone provide a short briefing?

thanks in advance.smile.gif
*
Can be done easily...but must get it at JPJ Perak and not other state's JPJ.
Can go personally or get a runner to get things done for you, of course you must pay the runner la.
Go early in case many people there...usually around 8.30am would be fine.
When you reach there:
1. Go to receptionist and get a form. Inform the receptionist you wish to get a number. There are 2 types, the buying number type and the running number type. Inform the receptionist which type of number you want. The receptionist will tell you to go to a certain counter. Fill up your particulars on the form first before going to the counter. Leave the number column blank so that you will fill up later once you found your number.
2. For buying type, there is a notice board with few pages of numbers being published on it. RM200 has a group of numbers to choose for, then RM300 has another group, etc. Of course, the better number, eg. 1388, will cost you RM300, and so on. Say, you choose 1388, fill up the number onto the form, then you pay RM300 + RM10 processing fee at that designated counter.
3. Running numbers, these are the numbers that is computer generated based on that-day-at-that-moment-of-that-queue reservation. If yesterday the last number reserved was 5354, then today at 8.30am it'll start at 5355. If 5355 already reserved previously by someone, then today it'll start will 5356, and so on. You pay RM10 for the number reservation processing fee ONLY. By the way, Perak running number already reached AGV 5521 as of last Friday.
Both types you will get back your form, with printed confirmation on the form itself (like when you pay for your utility bills), and a receipt. Photocopy both, then give the originals to your relative, the Proton SA, who should advise you on these procedures.

Thanks for the info. If for running number, will I know current running number before I hand in the form?

Yes cbkhor, you can ask the counter before you reserve a running number...

Hi, anyone manage to solve the radio problem already? i try to turn the Local and RDS on. I don't see any difference in it. Anybody manage to solve this? i beh tahan the radio.

Hmm..FC really high lar although i get it around 6.5l/100km. Now only 700++ km. Need to service soon already.
*
Problems will not be solved, ever since the persona se launched last year august...do not expect much from the sc people...none of the proton sc mechanics are qualified...you'll have to bear with it.

Some said change the antenna, others said turn on the loc and RDS, yet others choose to keep quiet...

I too face the bad radio reception and the metal clunking sound at the steering when making all turning...what can I do? Car worth about 60k (lowest price for sedan car in the market), ALL proton sc and it's mechanics are unqualified and conning their customers...what can I do? meh give up lor...after the 3 'free' services, meh say to hell with all the proton sc lor...

Sorry to say it Bub but I share your sentiment.  Warranty or no warranty, I'd cabut after the 3rd so called "free" service,  but not before I claim kaw-kaw for the famous Persona klunking sound.

After that I'd go straight to my trusted Ah Beng.  Been with him for 9 years already.  I trust him to do the right thing and he trust me that my cheque (yes I pay by cheque) clears.
*
dear ipohmali, have you contacted your personal workshop about the metal clunking issue? once solved, please let me know, i'll balik kampung to fix it after the 3rd service...i wouldn't trust those sc buggers anymore...
after the 3rd service, i will install the stupid ignition light too, where my old wira used to have it also...RIDICULOUS!!!

yeah....3.5liters engine oil sufficient enough....where it is around slightly below the MAX line.....dont need to put until MAX....middle also ok...lighter acceleration and lower FC...
*
hmm, guess everyone knows this issue already loong2020. If we can go inside the workshop and pour the engine oil ourselves, there is no issue at all. Who doesn't know if we pour ngam ngam 3.5 ltrs, our cars would be lighter acceleration and lower fc? But then, we are not allowed to go inside the workshop and monitor those sc buggers' works leh....haiz...

by the way, I tried switching off the air-cond, still i can hear the klunk, klunk, klunk sound when I made those turning....

QUOTE(nsty @ Jul 16 2009, 10:22 PM)
dARKaNGEl,

Most of the Persona owners will say that the paint isn't so durable and easily chipped off, and in my 18 months of owning the car, I couldn't agree more. More so mine is metal grey, and it has turned yellowish on the bonnet section due to the prolonged exposure to the sun. I think iridescent would be even worse biggrin.gif By the way, if your car is less than 3 month old, they SC might consider spraying scratched/imperfect paint on your car, but you must be able to cook up stories and the procedure can be quite long, because they need to take photographs, type a report and send to HQ. Hope this helps, just try your luck with it.

dbtel74,
From my experience with the fuel gauge, the first quarter and the last quarter will go down much faster than the middle two, so it is highly advisable to refuel after the second last quarter finishes so you wont get stuck with an empty fuel tank in the middle of the traffic jam. For those who are eager to test the FC of Persona by stretching the last quarter of fuel, I can tell you that its not worth it and you'll be disappointed by the FC anyway tongue.gif . Most of the FC data reported in forums are > 60% highway drive, thus are really rosy values, but in city drive the Campro can be VERY thirsty, maybe worse than a 2.0 car! smile.gif
*
Dear nsty, I didn't mean it went down much faster or things like that, but it SUDDENLY went down from first half quarter to empty when I started my car...I was shocked by that fuel gauge...guess it's another sign of 'buatan Malaysia' also...

Their fuel gauge is like that, not accurate 1, don't trust it so much. Everytime when i driving my car, I will monitor it. When almost reach the 3/4 quarter, I already can predict how long it can go already. Don't trust the DTE. Is just for fun only, not really working well, even when you pump until full tank, it will show u 4xxKM can go, but actually, sometimes just can up to 3XX only.

What kind of Petro you guys using the most??

I have discover something, but during my last fill petrol. I use to fill up Shell, but when I travel for long distance, I will fill up BHP. because its give me more mileage.

Last week when I am driving back and just happen that the petrol light lights up, and I don't dare to take the risk as I am still far away from home. So i decided to pump up Petronas as I do not prefer Petronas from the day I am driving until now. When I start my car, I can feel it suddenly become so powerful  blink.gif . when I just press a little bit on the gas pedal I can feel that my car moving forward very quickly and I can feel my car power up a lot until my wife also notice that. (Personally I feel that it is better than Shell V Power, as I have try to pump up V Power before but can't feel any different on it shakehead.gif )

So I don't know is it Petronas improve or what? So I guess is because my fuel tank still left little bit of Shell petrol and I guess is because of 2 different petrol mixing it resulting become powerful. So I did test out for my next tank. I fill up 1/2 tank shell and 1/2 tank Petronas, and Finally it really work rclxm9.gif my car really feel like Vrooooommmm thumbup.gif and it really give me more mileage aprox 60KM above rclxms.gif
*
Speaking of petrol brand, I compared using my old wira, BHP, Shell, Caltex and Petronas last time. I am not sure whether it's my feeling or truly it is, Petronas gave more 'vroommmm' and mileage. The rest, no 'rasa' at all...
When it comes to my new persona SE recently, I stick to Petronas already from the first day I got my car.

Remember I informed about the problematic fuel gauge? I went to pump in petrol last night, but can only pump in about 35 lrs. I thought persona has the fuel capacity of 50 lrs? Well, does that mean I still have 15 lrs more in the tank?
I guess that's where darkAngel described in his comment:
"Then not long after, strangely the fuel gauge meter started to go up back to around 1/4 of the final quarter, low fuel indicator gone and i checked the DTE, it becomes 78km now... crazy..."

Guess Proton designed it that way to make us more aware of the fuel gauge so that we can be cautious enough...hahhaha...

Proton really makes me confused and yet, excited at some time...love it so much...LOVE+HATE...hahahha...

quick question. i got a loan frm eon bank for 30k.. i am charged 3.5% for 5 years.. is that what you guy get also? which banks has the lowest rates..

is there a RM600 handling fee when you first get the loan? thanks? apparently eon is charging me rm600.
*
Hmm...there shouldn't be handling charges for the bank loan. There are some free services also, depends on the officers la..eg. they'll visit you if you can't go to them, help you to get other things done...etc.

All banks charge 3.5% interest rate for all Proton cars for less than 5 years. 6 & 9 years, will be 3.65% & 3.75% respectively.

Proton car mazam ni ler. Don't expect too much from proton as all its part quality will degrade very quickly. Take the proton wira and old waja for example.  After few years, more sound u will hear from ur lovely car.

Malaysia Boleh! rclxms.gif
*
hmm..my old wira was good..tip top condition. Tahan lasak. No noise, no stupid clunking steering sound, no bad radio reception. But have to sell it off as the current price is still good. Few more months will become RM5k already...hahaha...almost 10 years old lor....

Proton car is ok, considering the price lor...Persona is good, despite all that stupid sound la.

I tried all fuel before. BHP, Mobil and Caltex not so fuel efficient. Petronas still give me the best mileage. Shell is ok.

Hypro, how do u drain the 250ml engine oil by yourself?
