smile.gif This thread serves as a Q&A section for all new/existing audiophiles seeking advice on their new headphone purchase. The rules are simple, no flaming/bashing and try to not to spam (posting irrelevant post).

You may ask us any headphones/earphones related questions, and all of us in headphilers in this forum will gladly assist you. Don't be shy! wink.gif

When asking, please remember to STATE YOUR BUDGET. Give EXACT NUMBERS... "not so expensive la" is not a considered a budget wink.gif

Other infos like the following will also be helpful to get faster and more accurate responses.
- what you currently have (mp3 players, amps, soundcard etc)
- what type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc)
- source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc)
- type of music listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc)
- personal requirements like type (closed, open, cirumaural, IEM etc).

Best of luck on your headphones/earphones purchase. smile.gif

Selling off er4p is big mistake if u love the sound sig. Usually there is no replacement for it.

Custom 1 is entry level iem. Only 19.99 pound last time in UK.

Um2 is good.. Aside from the slightly harsh highs using olives i don't find any other flaw for it.. thumbup.gif

The closest thing to er4p will be triple.fi and W3 but W3 has sibilance and rolled off high. Both has better low freq response and soundstage compared to ety.

walabies sell both W3 and TF10P.

I wouldn't say that W3 has rolled off high, UM2 then has little rolled off highs, recessed and so is the SE530, having way too rolled off high.

ok guyz...juz an advice...if you havent even hear the sound of UM2 and W3 plz do not post as if you had heard the sound before...the preferences of sound for each person tends to be different...so if you wanna judge them both...i can let you audition them if im free...but lately alot of arseholes are posting crap remarks bout W3 when they havent even heard it before...juz becoz some users posted up negative reviews and the whole internet world juz eat their words and start spreading them as if they heard of it before...btw...my um2 is up for grabs too wink.gif

Hurm.. Just needing your opinions guys,

Recently just gotten myself a portable player, pairing it with my HR2 is indeed wonderful, however, I've decided to take it a step further and I wish to start looking for a pair of budget IEM for isolation usage.

Budget is about RM200, using it for music only, and I seriously dislike warm/bassy sound signature (guess the Bijou is a big no for me, just to give a scale, I find the M30's bass too overwhelming and MS1's bass just nice for my personal taste), had been trying to target for the x3i as I've pretty much brought myself to be fond of its sound signature, but ah heck, I doubt anyone is selling a new set anymore. >_<

Any advises or recommendations would be appreciated. biggrin.gif

if the type of music u listen to is the type that requires a soundstage i.e. classical etc, dont bother with grados... almost non-existent sound stage.

plus theyre supra-aural which means they sit ON the ear. not around it....

mebbe u should take a look at the audio technicas from akabane or walabies.

Arlow.

Haven't talked to you for like.. Ages. laugh.gif

Hurm.. Last I heard, even the Bijous which supposedly comes with lesser bass themselves are pretty bassy, so I don't wanna risk it. >_<
Gotta stop disturbing walabies though. laugh.gif Perhaps it's time to drop yuheng a message as well.

But yea, the HR2 are actually pretty good, was stupid enough to hook it up toi the BoA earlier. Gah. Made it too warm and muffled for my liking. Until I hook it up to my laptop, I went literally 'wow!'.

from what i've seen, grado sr's aren't build with comfort in mind, if you are wearing it for long hours, unless you go DIY and change the cushions.

First thing of all, many people have comfort issues with the Grados/Alessandros.
They basically come with two stock earpads, SR60/80 comes with bowls where else the MS-1 comes with comfies. (referring to your budget la.)
Bowls are kinda hard, even myself find it uncomfortable, when I find the comfies sufficiently comfortable, however many other people find it to be irritating to the ears.

Secondly, Grado/Alessandro have nearly non-existing soundstage, or I'd rather call it extremely in-your-head narrow soundstage.

Soundstage basically means the wideness of the reproduced field of music playing from your headphones.
For example, in an orchestra setup, we'll have the violins at one corner, the cello at another corner, the percussion at one side, basically an accurate/or wide/or good soundstage is perceived when a much more accurate field of instrument imaging can be done. Hurm...

Ok la. In layman terms, you feel the 'surround' or the '3D' motion of the reproduced music/sound. biggrin.gif

I'd rather recommend you to go for Audio Technica ATH-M30 or the Philips SHP8900 at about RM200 budget. Hurm.. of course, feel free to drop walabies or Akabane to see if they have any stocks for something at the sub-RM300 region. smile.gif

Bass is formed by a certain range of lower frequencies in audio. (can't remember the exact frequency range, and I can't log into Headfi >_<)
In other words.. Boom boom thump thump those things are what you guys would call bass. laugh.gif

It's not exactly a sound signature. Sound signature is more like a flavor, the way a certain audio reproducing equipment reproduces audio. For example, each chef's cooking would have different taste, even if it's the same dish, just whether we can notice it or not.

Do correct me if I am wrong though. Rather fresh in this field still.

soundstage has been explained in earlier posts....

as for ur avril lavigne, then yeah the Grados will suit you.....grados are known to be good for rock/ metal...

in terms of the comfort... alot of people assume its uncomfortable due to the supra aural design. and alot of people do find it uncomfortable. but there are also quite a number of people who find it comfortable for hours of usage... so at the end, this comes down to the user itself.

for ur budget and music, perhaps the Alessandro MS-1 would be better compared to the Grado SR60 and SR80. most people who has the money for the SR80 would end up going for the MS-1.

but if ur worried about the supra-aural thingy, try to make ur way to 1 Utama in Bandar Utama. go to the old wing. theres an audiophile shop there near Jusco, 2nd floor if i remember correctly. go there and check out and audition the Goldring DR150. from all the descriptions ive read in head-fi, the descriptions make them sound as if the DR150 are circumaural versions of Grados. ive heard them briefly at that store and i have to say the description is pretty much accurate. the DR150 is selling about RM450 if im not mistaken.

ES stands for Ear Suit which hints at something hip/cool/trendy, so its targeted at portability, while NC is Noise Cancellation which offer total(?) isolation so you can enjoy your music even when someone is screaming on top of their lungs beside you. And i believe ANC7>ES7? Correct me if i'm wrong. No personal experiences on both cans. But in the end, its up you to decide which one suit your needs.

Hey, I just lost my SonicGear ear pump. I need a pair of earphones to listen to music. I listen mainly to rock, pop, pop rock and dance. MY budget is RM100. I don't need noise cancellation. Don't need Ear Bud/IEM.

I want something that's not bulky therefore not getting any headphones. I'm gonna use it daily.

isnt there a HUGE price difference between the HD555 and the HP8900???? dont really think its a fair comparison....

but for me... for rock. id go with the phillips. sennheiser's laid back sound signature makes them unsuitable for rock/metal. takes the energy out of the music.

but wat would be better would be the Grado SR60 for less than 300 or the much better Alessandro MS-1 for about 4xx

I'm looking for a IEM that's good for metal/rock. Does any of the Mylar ones fit the category? There are so many different models sold here and I don't have a clue about their differences.

Any other portable headphone recommendations are welcomed as well. My budget is below RM200.

Can somebody recommend an excellent headphone where I can listen to my TV audio output.

I need a good bass, good treble and very low noise.

It should be wireless.

The headphone should be powered by AA batteries.

There should be more than one headphone which can tune into the wireless output. (two should be enough)

Hi. I'm thinking about getting Sennheiser's HD201 (which i can get around RM100) but I don't know if I should wait and get a much more expensive one later on? If it helps:
-I'm currently using Sennheiser MX400 earphones.
-I listen to mostly symphonic metal which needs a strong bass and the orchestra and vocals have to stand out.
-I've never used headphones before.

Hi guys. Im loved my Crossroad but seems to spoilt after one year and half. Its really good and reliable compare to my old canal earplug e.g like Sony and Philip 9600 which normally can last me for 3 months and so.

I'm interested to get a earplug and is this model good guys for Klipsch Custom-1 ? As wanted to try something different now. Budget around RM300. Thanks alot.

when we talking about sound quality,it is very subjective..

some might prefer shure scl 2 rather bijou but some might not...

so that y is all depend on your preference...the way how u taste n feel the music...

both are very nice earphones...

bijou - many ppl recommend..
shure - highly branded product..

lvl 1 = more bass?

I'm confused since there's a thread here that says the higher the number the lower the bass hence more clarity, but I read the opposite statement in the Head Fi(?? can't remember) forum. Can someone clarify?

I love rock and metal and I don't like the bass to cover out the other frequencies. Used to have a Spark Plug that sounds like mud tongue.gif.

Hi guys,

Like everyone else, I'm trying to find a decent earphone within a certain budget. I recently purchased a creative EP-630, which was my first in-ear I've used. I know that the in-ear sound (in the head) is not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, the EP-630 sounds kinda muddy. The bass is strong but often overpowering, while the mids and highs were...muddy.. for the lack of a better word. Does anyone else have this impression.

I'm looking for something with more balance and clarity since i'm not (always) into heavy thumping bass. Budget-wise, probably up to 250++. I'm curious.. is the EP-830 better in this regard i.e. no overpowering bass, more balance sound and clarity? Mylar Bijou?

Perhaps the sifus can help us newbies out. Everyone keeps asking these open ended questions i.e. what's good for this price range, etc. etc. Could someone give a guide of what to expect for a certain price range? Or rather, what is a "good buy" for different budgets.

Cheers!

I'm trying to purchase either Sennheiser MX-660 or CX-500 and I'm still have no idea on which one to purchase.

I've used Aztech canalphones before and I must admit that I need to fit it really deep inside my ear to hear the true bass. Wonder will it be the same for CX? I really don't want to hurt my ear drum.

BTW, I've also heard from people saying that MX (earbud) is not good for noise isolation and might cause deaf since the volume need to be turned high in order to hear the music. Wonder will it be true for CX (canalphones)? Will I be experiencing hearing loss as I need to place it deep within my ear?

Just bought a cheap Pioneer earphone.
in burning stage now...mid and high sound harsher now,but does have wide soundstage..but definitely not overwhelming bass..which is what I like....
maybe more burn in will cure the 'bright' sound in time.

rm59 at Jaya Jusco AU2
Just to offer some alternative to EP-630

Hi,
Am looking for high quality IEM, any good suggestion?
Top in the line etc? I cant really found relevant details on the net cause there many many many jap branded tat we nvr heard before. Wonder tat some hardcore person can answer my question? smile.gif
Cause mostly wat i saw in the internet is Koss, Sennheiser, Klipsch, Audio Technical, etc.
I am asking here because i dont trust on ppl reviews, hardly see a bad one from professional reviews. user reviews yes, but most of them jus used few series of IEM.
Cheers.

Most important aspect is the price range. It can go from RM2 to RM4000+ for ONE iem. From no name crap bud to custom IEM.

money =/= quality. Try Bose, B&O, etc

My frenz do have a Bose and a B&O, tried it before.
But I wonder tat seldom got ppls talking bout tis 2 branded here.
B&O is very comfort but bass wise not tat satisfied me, maybe my frenz B&O earphone is still new, havent burn enough yet?
Bose is ok for me, jus curious tat seldom got ppls talk bout it. But I do see ppls selling it off, donno y.

Jaben is at Adelphi

If I'm not mistaken you shd alight at City Hall station

Just ask any passer-by, they will point you to the shop. Very friendly wan the people there. Ask anyone sure they will teach.

But if memory serves me well it's just opposite Funan.

It's at the.... 3rd floor I think. But don't worry, Adelphi is a small place, won't take you more than 10 mins to find Jaben.

They allow testing, got lots of choice too. You can test to your heart's content.

Shure, A-T got. Cos I tested those two last time smile.gif

Price-wise I can't tell you anything, cos I just bought there without testing at any other shop. Cos I was in SG for a short time only, no chance to go scout around.

But service is good. They will happily recommend you phones to try. I sat there for over an hour till my Ipod battery kosong the other time.

It's the very first generation of Ipod Nano... but that's besides the point.

Walabies is "THE" headphones supplier here... head over to the bulk section and you can find his thread as well as his products...

In fact I will be dealing with him soon. First time also tongue.gif

Just different color and warranty. I heard that it's harder to deal with warranty from M-Audio. Price wise, both retailed the same.

My friend 5pro is superb with his CD player , TF10 last time i try on it , not very like the SQ .

Bijou = more bass than she9850 but less clarity
she9850 = more clarity but lask of bass

she9850 uses BA driver i think.. So lack of bass is its signature... biggrin.gif If u are a basshead better stay away from she9850.. Hehe

Hello, so far the only headphone I've owned is the Philips SHP895. My audio experience is limited to SHP895, Sony HPM-70, Edifier R401 and notebook speakers.

Thank you for any assistance. smile.gif

personally i feel tht it depends on u like bass more or clearity more kua. Etymotic lines vy weak in bass but treble and mid is excellent. My fren using er6i now, laz time i used er4p b4 also.

UE suppose to hav more balance sound among all treble, mid, and bass.

Stength:

Etymotic : Treble and mid
UE : Bass

Juz personal opinion, i m not pro. Please refer to others professional brothers, they must hav tried both of this earphone b4

it seems there is a few post bout W3 and IE8 again lolz...
if you guyz interested i can let you guyz audition it...
ive both sony and cowon players
w3 and um2...ive stopped upgrading so i didnt get the IE8
trust me...IE8 at rm1100 is quite a fair price IMHO...almost tempted to buy it lolz...
my w3 i got it at rm1500...so you guyz do the math and check out the market price 1st before complaining bout how expensive IEM's are lolz...why ppl dont get DJ headphones instead?well its becoz we use it at home...or when we are DJing...we dont really wear a full size cans out in the open...not much use as the seal aint as good as IEM's...

ya, DJ headphone is quite troublesome to bring around, but SQ is better thn IEM? Btw I would like to try out the W3 and UM2 if u dont mind. smile.gif
How bout we make a gathering so newbie can try out all the headset? laugh.gif

As W3 and IE8 is at top of the line, I wonder tat which IEM is most valiable for money? Cause i dont think tat much ppl can effort to buy W3 or IE8 as the price is high until u can buy a super nice compact cam, or even at netbook nowadays.

Ok, another question here is,

Etymotic : Treble and mid
UE : Bass

how bout all rounded, which brand sound output is more balance on both side? laugh.gif

UE should be more balance i think. Etymotic with vy weak bass make the music quite boring, feeling tht no soul inside. But there is still alot of people who like clearity more like it.

And about headphone, i dun like it bcoz i feel tht it is easily hot. So i choose IEM. heheh. rclxms.gif

I wan try W3!!! But i m too far. Sigh cry.gif

yeah , Etymotic sure not ur food .
U can try looking at Klipsch Image , Shure SE530 , maybe they can fit what u wan icon_idea.gif

Westone UM1 is single driver , UM2 is dual driver , Westone 3 is triple driver .

but it is still better for you to try out the rest before deciding to buy...so that it will suit your own preferences wink.gif

Anyone tried this pair of headphones?

It has 4 speakers and comes with 2 input plugs, suppose to be designed for surround sound system in the 70's... it's so heavy.

Suppose older surrond system has 2 outputs for 4 speakers, front L/R & read L/R. That's the easiest way to produce surround back then instead of heavy digital coding/decoding. So no matter which plug you plug in you get stereo sound.

Hey guys...

Currently have a Philips SHE9500 for my ipod...
Am looking for a slight upgrade, budget is RM100.
Is there any other canalphone that provides slightly better bass and treble while still providing noise isolation?
Thanks.

depends on what you listen or use it for. philips headphones are known for their bass, so if hip hop, dance, rock is your thing, then its for you. its a semi-open headphone, so the there's a bit of sound leakage. while on the other hand, SENNHEISER HD201 is selling around 100 here at the forum. Maybe try tat if bass isn't your thing?

normally, headphones can be divided between open and closed, where open ones let sounds in and out (would be a distraction if the environment is noisy & disturb the surrounding if your volume is too high) which in turn have better sound quality while closed ones is the opposite. and in this case, shp2700 is semi or half open, so just to let you know that it leaks abit of sound if you do mind about that =)

Hi there! Could anyone recommend me an IEM with noise cancelling/ sound isolation, budget around rm400. I'll be using it with my PSP but more for the music not gaming. Listen to classical, guitars so would prefer a wider sound stage. Would prefer less bass and not too much treble. Clarity is a must. Any info is much appreciated! smile.gif

My fren using DT231 now, alr 2 months, burned in with quite good condition d. Laz week i hav a try on tht, the sound vy good with tht price.

And since this is 2nd hand, suppose alr fully burned in. If it is in good condition, i think u can take it.

Other experts, do correct me if i m wrong. Still learning. heheh

I was looking at the following.

Razer M100, SteelSeries Siberia and the Crossroads (the most expensive). Are there any obvious difference's between the Bjou and the X3i/XBi?

I was so lucky to get myself a pair (last pair) of Ultrasone HFI 2000 (discontinued model) from Audio Warehouse Clearance Sales in PJ at RM 300. It cost USD 399 four years ago and still cost USD 249 now.

Babe, this can ROCKS, what I need is a decent amp to pair with it now, am looking for Little Dot I Tube amp, anyone know who else is selling apart from yeah_guyz?

looking for some iem or ear canals, budget around 4xx, already own a bijou and im716 planning to get sumthing different, was considering between jays d-jays & the new sony ex-500sl. Before saying sony is crap, i did try them briefly and found them to be rather decent, but i am not too sure about the d-jays.

Was also considering westone-um1 but how does it hold up in terms of sq with im716.

Listening to all kinds of music from ballads to trance, but not looking for one earphone to play them all. Thanks

i think you won't go wrong with bijou, you can also try the new sony mdr ex-300 which is rather highly rated in japanese forums at your nearest sonystyle, selling for rm199 if i am not mistaken.

Sony EX90 sound is very nice for me , just only the noise isolation not that good , coz the design like open type earphone .
Never try EX500 and EX300 before , but i think EX300 will better then EX85 coz the EX300 noise isolation sure better then EX85 , but the sound between EX90 and EX500 not very sure , coz the shop still selling EX90 , but not selling EX85 anymore .

i wouldn't really say im716 is lack of bass, use the foam tip and mod it with 33 ohm resistor, then you would have some deep quality bass.

Sennheiser and Alessandro basically has 2 opposite sound signatures....senn is warm and laid back... alessandro/ grado are more in your face..

anyway...if ur in KL/PJ head over to 1 Utama and check out the Goldring DR150. its in the audiophile shop near jusco in the old wing.

priced about RM4xx which is about the same as the MS1

you get circumaural with sounds similar to Grado/ Alessandro. but dont simply buy...make sure you audition it first. they should allow u to audition it....coz they allowed me to audition it...

5.1 headphone is just pure gimmick. imho, it should be ranked even lower than low end hifi grade earphone. Even my KSC75 sound better than zalman 5.1 crap. I owned both.

like others said...sounds like shit....

and its just a useless gimmick....

speaker placement is too close to be able to give u proper surround.

if u want proper surround then get 5.1 SPEAKERS.

otherwise, stereo headphones that can emulate surround sound is MUCH better.

I'm trying to decide between Sennheiser MX-560 or CX-300/500 series.

I have used Aztech in-ear earphone before and I found it uncomfortable having to fit it deep in my ear. Will that situation arise in CX series?

BTW, is MX-560 have good bass/treble control system? Isolated sound features?

I though SHP8900 is an open-type cans ? smile.gif

to reply the statement above,
a wireless headphone is subjective to the wireless transmission tpye. if using blue tooth transmission, the max it can deliver out FLAC bit rate but not WAV

Cans = headphone
Headphone divided into 2 or 3 types, closed type, semi-open and opened typed. smile.gif
Opened type headphone has better sounstage, but depends on which model.

i just want to ask if there is any affordable earphone, the earbud type at an affordable price. I want to use it for my N82 as the given headset is quite bad and also if it has noise isolation would better. Used to use sony ericsson W series's and cant get any satisfied with Nokia's..

Thank you in advance. Affordable maybe around Below Rm 80.

Get the ATH-M30 if you want bass. biggrin.gif The SHP8900 is pretty cold sounding, the SR-60 is the most expensive out of your selections, and you might not like the Grado signature, so it'd be safe to not recommend you that yet. What songs you listen to?

I'm looking around for IEM's around RM 400-RM600.what's the best in that price range?
saw the shure se210's earlier but I think Shures' usually overprice their IEMS.What about the Future Sonics
Atrios?I heard that those IEM's are nicely valued and I just love the minimalistic design tongue.gif

I listen to a lot of genres as I am a fan of soundtracks but bass and midrange is very welcome indeed.smile.gif
The tracks in my collection are mostly 320kbps mp3's and vbr mp3's but i do have a few FLAC albums.
Should the Atrios reach around RM500 then it's a pick because the design and sq is just impeccable and
I'm still a school student and convincing
my parents to buy 'earphones' in this price range alone is 'chore' in it's own respect lol.

oh yeah and i use a Sony Walkman NWZ-E435f right now.The sq on that thing is good but
the battery seems to have a few issues.I don't have an amp cause I'm a person that believes strongly
that to fully drive full size headphones then will I truly need an amp.But now,naah....

so far these 2 are the decent ones around that price-range (RM 50).
saw Philips earphones but it cost more than that, and I doubt the sound can be as good as these 2.
i might be wrong though, as i didn't actually try it out myself.

Noise cancelling headphone around that price? Can't think of any because those are consider above mid-end range. Budget have to be bigger.

Well I do found out this Sony MDR-NC40 which is selling for RM 390.
If your budget can increase like 4 times of RM 200 then u can get some real good noise-cancelling phones like Audio Technica ATH-ANC7.

Alternatively you can consider IEMs which falls under your price range. It has noise-isolation.
Suggests:
Sonic Gear EarPump (~RM 50)
Creative EP-630 (~RM 55 through Bulk Order, or ~RM 100 market price)
CrossRoads MylarOne Bijou (RM 170), go through Walabies.

Using these 3 now and I'm satisfied with 'em.

P/S: How's 5800? More specifically, how's the sound quality?

Thinking of getting a set of headphones to replace my 2.1 speakers, since i don't use them much. please advice if 2.1 setup is better or a 2.0+headphones is better.
if i do get headphones:
- currently have - intergrated Asus SupremeFX soundcard
- what type of usage - movies, gaming, music
- source - mp3
- type of music listen to - jazz, pop, rock
- personal requirements - have nice bass, as i like to listen bass lines in songs. budget is <RM100.

btw, is the mini heaphone amp sold in the garage sales bulk good?

Hello guys, am interested in bijou since everyone was talking about it.
I'm quite confused with the levels, blues, soul, and acoustic vocals filled up most of my genre. So which bijou level should i take?

also what "burn-in" really does? it is said to optimize the performance of the earphones? thanks in advance.

From Wikipedia:

What is 'burn in'?

When speaking of headphones, 'burn in' is the term used for the settling oft he design parameters of the diaphragms into their intended state. The physical process is that the diaphragms loosen up through use and eventually reach a point that could be considered final. A similar situation is breaking in a new pair of shoes.

levels 1-4 indicates the bass.... 1 is the most bassiest and 4 less bass, usually for me i luv the no 3 which is balance bass...
vocal should be on level 4.. which is less bass... so it optimize the vocals better....

no such thing as circumaural or supraaural IEMs... IEMs (In Ear Monitors) are the ones u put inside ur ear... aka ear dildos.

so which one u want??? IEM or HEADphone?

Hi guys, i'm pretty new to these audiophile thingy, so i'm looking for an IEM for my ipod and also headphone monitors for mixing/producing OR a two in one IEM

my budget is below rm200
currently looking at xroads bijou but do you think i can mix with those? lol
also, between ath ck32, sennheiser cx300 and xroads bijou which would be most ideal for listening?
I don't really need a lot of bass pumping since i listen to alot of jazz and neo-classical stuff currently, only once in a while some hip hop and rock(not metal) but thats about the extend of it.

for my ipod i'm using the default headphones that come with it but it really sucks and its not isolating.

for mixing, i'm currently using sennheiser HD202 but its not comfortable enough for my ears, after putting them on for an hour or so, my ears start to hurt(not from loud volume)

is hd202 suitable for mixing/home-recording? or should i consider to sell it off and get a ATH M30?

budget for each (IEM and headphones) below rm200 but i don't mind to pay more if there is an IEM that can use for listening as well as mixing(2 in 1) =D

Regarding the amp, especially the Fiio headphone amp, most of them find it helpful. You can read more at the forum there.

I need some recommendations for real good headphone.

Budget - 700-1000
Usage - Gaming, movies, music. Mostly gaming and movies only though.
Must be comfortable to wear for long time ( 2-5 hours +)

I prefer 5.1 headphones if possible. Currently using 5500z but i have to watch out abit coz its too loud lol. So gonna sell that one and just buy a headphone.

Just a shortlist would be great.

I'd like a recommendation for non-IEM earphones, budget from RM100 to 200. Decent bass with clear treble would do, not really an audiophile here. I'd very much like the Bijou as the genres suit me, but im not a fan of IEM.

Thanks!

I'd like a recommendation for non-IEM earphones, budget from RM100 to 200. Decent bass with clear treble would do, not really an audiophile here. I'd very much like the Bijou as the genres suit me, but im not a fan of IEM.

Thanks!

Koss KSC 75 perhaps? popular non-IEM earphone among forumers.

Seeking recommendations for a gaming headphone with mic for my new gaming rig.

Purpose of use would obviously be for gamingand music listening. My budget would be around RM400 and below, anything above that i will try to save if the item is of great value for money.

Thx!

games in mind would mostly be for FPS and RTS cool.gif

Hi, I want to buy 2@3 audio technica phone for normal usage (normal budget also). One earphone, one headphone and maybe one wireless headphone also. So here are some list and price.

Headphone

ATH SJ5 = RM 128

ATH SJ3 = RM 100

ATH SJ1 = RM 65

Earphone

ATH C100 = RM 42

ATH C300 = RM 40

ATH C500 = RM 57

ATH C320 = RM 50

ATH CK300 = RM 107

Wireless

ATH CL350 = RM 130

Can anybody advice me which one to get? For the wireless unit, is the sound ok.

Please recommend me a headphone based of the below preference.
- what you currently have (mp3 players, amps, soundcard etc)
Will use it most of the time on the plane or laptop

- what type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc)
Movies and music

- source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc)
MP3

- type of music listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc)
Norah Jones, Josh Groban with occasional Pop and Hip Hop.

- personal requirements like type (closed, open, cirumaural, IEM etcP).
Preferably comes with airplane jack.

Budget wise, I would say RM500. Currently looking at Sony MDRNC22B.

Phonak Singapore wont ship it outside Singapore. Maybe due to their policy. And they sell higher compare to SRP by US counterpart. If u reside in US/Canada, u can even apply coupon code for 10% off.

trying to find KSC75 but no luck
or if you can get the Koss KTXPRO1, that would be better, since it's practically a headphone version of the KSC75

Hey guys I'm looking for an in ear monitor mainly for my phone.
My budget is around RM300-350.

Also I notice some earphones produce too much bass. I'd rather hear crisp clear vocals, piano solos and guitar riffs rather than having bass block out everything every time it thumps in.

I was looking at Shure's SCL2 or Sony's MDR-EX300/500 ER. Dunno exactly the price but they seem to be within my budget(I know the Sony ones are, they're in Sony Malaysia's website).
Anyone can recommend me something else? Also I live in KK so if any of you knows of a good place to search for audio equipments, I'd like to know as well.

Yep, that's the one. smile.gif

Well, IMO, the Lear's would be better. The EP-630 doesn't really bring much to the table compared to the Le01's.

Clieos, one of the more respected forumers/headphiles reviewed Lear and ranked it as good as rm170 Crossroad IEM, I perceive. So definitely Lear is better and worth the money.

EP-630's bass is bloated and uncontrolled. i havent tried LEar, though. since ClieOS ranked it at the same level as X3, then Lear should be much better than EP-630
