Looks like Samsung Galaxy users also reporting the same problem. Later, I'll take my new iphone 4 16GB out to test. Seems the problem only under flourecent lighting condition (seems more like a software problem now). Seems like the camera can't white balance properly.

QUOTE(luxen @ Oct 28 2010, 12:00 PM)
A few minutes after I wrote this, they called my name to register the phone. First they charge my credit card but before I signed the agreement, the guy brought out the phone for me to test and I told him I wanted to test the camera. Took a picture of the white wall behind them and true enough, there was a blue circle at the centre. The promoter said it's not so apparent so I when to larger well lighted white wall to take a picture and the blue circle was much clearer.

I told them this one is a manufacturing defect and I want another phone but since a lot of people waiting also, they asked me to follow another staff upstairs to resolve the phone problem. There was an Indian and Malay Maxis stuff upstairs. The Indian guy said "we changed many phone, all also got this blue problem". I told him, that's not my problem because I know people who gotten their phones from Maxis and it didn't have this problem also. So the Malay guy attending to me when to get another phone. I tested it and still a blue circle but it was less.

He said the same thing again, we cannot keep changing for you sir because customer don't want to buy an opened package phone. I told him, look since you have 100 over stock today, go and find one for me until it works. It's not my problem whether customer want to buy the phone that's already opened, anyway the camera is not working, why would customer want to buy a non-working phone? I am not going to take a phone and then make a service request to repair this phone. He dissapeared for a few minutes and then appeared and said he will refund my money if I don't want the phone. Stuck with this choice, I took the second phone.

My only problem now is that the contract I signed has the IMEI number for the first phone. The guy said no problem, just bring the card that the phone comes with.  Now to do some more research what the heck is this blue circle. hopefully it's a software problem not hardware.
Guys, if you are buying an iPhone 4, please insist on testing the camera. Turn of HDR and then take a picture of a white wall (or white piece of paper). If the picture saved comes out with a slightly blue circle in the centre, the CMOS or white balance in the camera is not working properly. If every customer insist on this, Maxis will be able to pressure Apple and Apple will pressure Foxconn to make better phones.

we should show the public how widespread the issue is, so that actions can be taken to resolve the issue. I've just posted my problem on top of an existing discussion in Maxis' Facebook page. Contribute yours there too! vmad.gif

Max - the solution Maxis offer me is - Hand over the problem set to them , and they will claim 1 unit of phone from Apple , which take 1 - 2 weeks time . You dont have to give them the box , and Apple will check and replace 1 unit (Phone only) which will have diff serial # and imei number with the box u are holding.

I've question maxis -
- Why cant Apple exchange with a fullbox set with matching IMEI on box and phone . (Maxis replied - This is Apple policy and procedure)
- Why cant Maxis just open and change me a set with problem free phone and themself go deal with the RMA process within Maxis and Apple (Maxis replied - they are just a middle man getting stock from apple , this is Maxis policy and procedure)
- Why they wan me as a consumer to suffering all this RMA process (Maxis replied - This is the only solution they can give me)

I told maxis , In future , If I plan to sell off the phone , Buyer will suspect my phone will be either AP set or stolen set due to the box IMEI diff from phone

I've rejected Maxis offer above also due to - I'm worry to get a refurbish unit from Maxis / Apple - This is just 2 my cent .

If I not mistaken , Apple practice is to provide refurbish set for 1 to 1 exchange customer . Correct me if I'm wrong .

So now I can either selling off the iphone or accept the fact like others do or buy the apps which can solved the issue from APPStore which cost me USD$ 0.99 ......

Good Luck .

thanks for the reply. I'm holding onto my current unit until they give me a proper solution. I assume that a fix is already in the works, but we need them to speed up the process. As you mentioned, there is already a third party apps that can solve the issue, why can't Apple has it? Possible fix coming in iOS4.2? Anyhow, it's not good for anyone to sell any defect products and let the buyers going through the RMA processes. For this problem, I believe other countries are not as widespread as in Malaysia. Are we getting all the 3rd grade products?

For those who got their ip4 in pavillion last week or last last week,

U might be a victim of dimmed display set. Please check with your friend that has an ip4, u will notice ur display is darker and dull compared to your fren's.

My gf just went to Sunway MC to compare her set that we bought in pavillion with the Sunway MC set.

According to Sunway MC reps that this problem is only for our batch. And they already refused to take responsible over this matter. They also claims warranty only render software as for hardware u can go fly kite with it..

Please explain more in detail, yellowish or its very dim, dull and "warm" liddat.

Btw.. its not my phone we take it from another website.

I suspect our ip4 also having the same problem with u..

And maxis now refuse responsible over this.. they say its not their fault, warranty cannot claim this..

So its as good as "broad day-light robbery" and selling "DEFECT GOODS" is legal in malaysia
