Modded console requires higher reading rate to avoid any lag during game play. That's why you experience the noise. In addition to it, you will find there is disc to disc variation in the noise level which depends on the disc quality. The spinning sound is considerably irritating. Some people may have thought that it is acceptable but some of them may not. Just get a HDD and install the game into it to eliminate the noise. I am happy with my 120GB (self upgraded version from 20GB) which the noise is totally eliminated. I am also one of them who gets irritated easily by the spinning noise.

but something doesn't add up, why is it that the unmodded version of the jasper arcade doesn't make that much noise, whilst it also doesn't have a harddisk.


well, some others have already answered me all sorts of answers.
Some said the modded one has different dvd-rom firmware.
Guess theres a lot of problems.

LOL.. u know why it read fast? because it cant read it at slow speed, so it spins faster to read the disc to make sure it can be read before timeout. if it didnt spin fast, then it will read slowly, if it cant read until timeout reach.. then it will prompt an unreadable disc..that's why it spins fast..its to read before timeout.. sorry, a bit technical. a backup copy of disc's may have problem reading on some sector.

Added on February 10, 2009, 12:49 amdude, unmodded xbox play's original games.. original games sure good quality one. a modded xbox plays backup copy.. the reliability of the media itself we cant guarantee since they dont have proper QC.

Elite Jasper Non mod Versus Mod Jasper. Which is more louder? : D

I heard the first batch of Elite Jasper is coming out in March... Any issue with current Jasper user (non mod)? Hope this new generation wont make so much noise. We dont want a "singing" Xbox.

Hope to see someday someone saying "Hey i got a jasper and its been 2 years now already. No 3ROd!"

just check the error code lah... 0001 is power supply.. moved to another socket.. is it's 3 red light appeared. clear ur doubt first... xbox took so much power.. put it to 1 socket.. dont share.

sadly, I've only one power outlet in my gaming room must use power extension to extend more...btw is there any power surge sell outside that can regulate power? I think my power outlet sometime have power spike...

It's true ori game disk have good quality while pirated ones of poorer quality.That's why mostly ahem games spin at loud noise when playing games. U have to take it cause u buy pirated games at super low price. This is something so called GIVE & TAKE.
thanks goodness we have the option to play games on HDD. This resolves loud noise issue.
So, get yourself x360 HDD or just mod a pc HDD which is much cheaper (but mod procedures quiet complicated).

As for my jasper set, the spinning noise from disk drive is acceptable.

I shared with 5 device on my entertainment station w/o any problem.

Maybe it's the extension cord got problem?

From what I know xox require clean power, but not a lot of power to work correctly.

150 watts is hardly alot and according to anandtech.. jasper peaks at abt 110wats when playing GOW2 and idle at abt 90watts

i try on my xbox again today
first time,no light at all,only the on/off logo has yellow light.
then,off xbox and on again,3rod

and tv screen remains black..

how much aa is the stndard price for repairing 3rod?

i read at tech2 thread,rm 400..i rather buy new 360(jasper) that has less chance to get 3rod bcause if repair also cn get the 3rod again

It depends on the DVD disc. If you bought it (not original), chances are, it's a cheap Disc and thus will cause loud noise.

A friend of mine, burns his games on Verbatims and his set is quite quiet. No Noise can be heard. The noise becomes noticeable when he inserts a disc bought from outside.

The Verbatims is as quiet as my jasper set, running an original Disc..

Literally, you should know there is difference between original and jack sparrow disc. The price is so much different as well. You shouldn't compare a original disc to a pirated disc.

it cost RM150 for the hard disk drive and then abit of effort

You should repair by utilizing the RM400 fix, sell it out to another victim and buy a Jasper which is yet to know for 3RRoD immunity.
