I just bought my xbox360 jasper arcade a few days ago.
when i'm in the dashboard menu, it's really quiet. but once i insert a disc into the tray, all hell breaks loose.
so I'm guessing its the dvd drive is emitting the loud noise.

and its really really loud. far louder by any means than my old ps2.

so I'm wondering if everyone is facing the same problem? how are you able to tolerate with it?

Is yours modded? IINM it's noisier than a non-modded.

yup, its modded alrite... thing is, isn't this the dvd drive problem, i'm sure the modded and un-modded one is the similiar hardware rite?

Yes, I also face the noisy dvd drive problem. I think it's normal for Jasper arcade which run games on DVD. If you don't want the noise, just install your games on a hardisk or you can increase your game volume so that you won't hear the drive spin sound

The thing is, the Jasper Arcade comes without the harddisk, but now to buy one external xbox harddisk is friggin' expensive. OMG, shoulda done more "research" before i went off buying one. it's really noisy.

but it's kind of a relieve to hear others facing the same problem.
wonder how you tolerate with it? how long can one play, with noise that loud? one-two hours maybe max...

You may just get one unofficial hard disk for xbox360

Or I still heard ppl said can get it at RM29x at JB Holiday Plaza.....

I'm not plague by the problem as I'm not modding my console.

sorry didn't know bout that, thought it had something to do with the what motherboard chip and the firmware, cause i don't remember us having to change anything for the dvd-rom firmware if we wanted to play "those" games on the computer.

so, it matters not whether if now i try to play an original game rite? the noise will still be there, because of the much spinning of the disc?

If you're playing jack sparrow games it's noisier due to the poor quality.

I tried with original games and it's not that noisy after all.

see what i mean, rm29x for most probably a 20gb xbox harddisk. thats like a major rip off man... i'm so doomed.

tried with my friends jasper, it not that loud.. i think ur's is modded with a fast drive speed firmware.

I just went to Holiday Plaza. 120GB out of stock. They're selling 60GB for rm250..then i ask how much is the 120GB..the guy said rm300+

wow..so cheap.. i tot 120gb would cost around rm600.

take another consideration, the DVD itself.

Some DVDs are thicker than others. It actually is a big factor that contributes to the noise.

normally all chose low speed to gain lifespan of drive

i think the arcade ver. not using Benq gua... since is so cheap maybe using those old samsung or hitachi.
