aiya don argue la guys, mannquin i think wat firstknight trying to say is that the N97 is still full of bugs in the software and the built might not suited other people.

it just takes time for some people to get used to it. believe me when i got my first symbian phone Nokia 3650 with the extreme kaypad took me a while to get used to it.

Here is my review after using the phone for 1 week with Maxis 3G Unlimited.

Loves:
1) Exquisite design. One of the best looker of a phone since Sony Ericsson K800i.

2) Chrome finishing at the border that exudes class and elegance.

3) Sturdy yet easy-to-operate lens protective cover.

4) Matte finishing back cover for enhanced grip.

5) Large, vibrant and very good-looking screen.

6) Touch-sensitive dial and hang-up buttons plus chrome Menu key.

7) The homescreen. One of the best feature I've seen in phones. I run Facebook, The Star and my office mail around-the-clock.

8) QWERTY keypad. Opens with a firm and assured snap. Keys are well laid out and easy to use.

9) 32GB of memory. Need I say more?

10) Touch vibration that never fails to respond.

11) Thoughtful implementations like the screen turning off when you place it near your face whenever you answer or make a call.

12) Accelerometer that is a joy to operate.

13) Connectivity. Bluetooth, WiFi, 3.5G.

14) Value-added applications like Qik, FM Transmitter, Google Maps, GPS etc.

15) Excellent web browser with full flash support (can watch YouTube without the mobile version).

16) Extremely sturdy design and dependable hinge.

17) Quick startup time.

18) Excellent telephony quality.

Many more I don't even remember. All I know is each and every time I slide the screen lock, I find this phone a real joy to use. It's like a new experience everyday.



Dislikes:

1) Fingerprint-prone screen and chrome finishing.

2) Camera not as good as I expected.

3) Phone rebooting bug whenever you are on 3G for long hours, though this rarely happened to me. But I'm sure it will be fixed in the firmware that is due to release in a few days time.

4) The pouch is too tight.

5) No active stylus. And I don't really fancy the size and the format of the given stylus.

6) Relatively weak battery life.

7) USB port for charging.

myself having a maxis 16gb iphone 3g white and n97 white..
i think i m the 1st who owned this n97 white colour in msia....
for my refer n97 is ok of overall..
me support all nokia phone like 3310,6610,6100,7210,3100, and a lot till n80,n73,n93,n95,n95 8gb,n96 n till this n97...
overall this phone is good.. but for me i think i phone will better on games and entertainment.... for n97 i face now is a bit hang when call in music will hang for 1 sec then continue back.. and when type msg sometimes got some "pelik"sound .. normal is tu tu when typing thengt some electronic sound like te te... maybe bug....some time like when u switch of backlight also got some bug and lag.....
for startup i missed my previous n95 gb n e90 that given me 80++ mb ram but this given me max 50 mb after reboot and 25mb phone memory even me everything also install at mass memory.... now waiting for window live messenger software that can use with this n97 as me using my contract line in n97 n digi line in iphone....
for iphone game is very good.. i can say all touch screen phone cant win iphone.. since i been using touch pro,diamond,x1,omnia and etc all cant win.. iphone still the best on touch screen but n97 like cheap plastic on touch but ok la for me.... just some time hang but better than n96 for sure.........

The pause in ringtone is due to the accelerometer.

So it's only been a few days since I last posted here and where on earth did all the trolls come on? The thread was extremely fine even after 1-2 weeks of some of the earliest members sharing info and now out of sudden we have some people dissing the phone just after a few days usage?

This phone has its pros and cons. Like it or not it's up to you, it's really personal perference. I really do not see the point of complaining this phone continuously.

Heck, even the FirmWare update which is usually known as the major firmware for every good N series Nokia phone isn't released yet. Patience people, patience.

Yeap , i do admit this phone is buggy but all these while nokia does not disappoint us with their firmware update with the bug fixing , not to mention that they does improve alot in each firmware update, this is my personal experience with them for over 10 years since their successful 3210

All depends on what u want...

Iphone, according to many has the best touchscreen. But to get it in Mayalysia (legally), you gotta chain yourself up to a contract and pay obscene money to Maxis. Noticed lately that Maxis signal is getting from bad to worse? You don't need to tie yourself down with a contract if you buy the N97.

For me, Iphone is not exactly a business phone too. For one thing, it has no keyboard, it can't do multi-tasking, and there is no "homescreen" with substantial information, just menu screens. Although the N97 is not categorised as a business phone, it is actually quite good as a business phone, especially with the qwerty keyboard it has. The E71 keyboard is a bit cramped for me and the screen of the E75 is too small for me.

And for those people calling other people idiots (whether specifically or generally), go start another thread somewhere and you can have fun there using the word idiot/s. Just dun waste space and time here.

I got Iphone 2G and 3G.
and N97 for my gf.

Apple retail store do sell Iphone right? But the price is pretty expensive... Do agree with you about the recent signal from Maxis

just buy 1 N97 + 1 iPhone = problem solved.....

is money problem....not phone problem ....
