hi all,

i was checking out mattresses for the past few days when i found out that the price will go up from 1 July onwards...so i'm trying to lock down my purchase asap, if possible by today....the problem is... i don't really know which brand/model to choose...

i've only check out Dunlopillo and Getha brands so far....any recommendations?

so it's easier for me just to check out the recommended brand/model instead of slowly searching for it...
thanks.

if i'm not mistaken dunlopillo is fully imported from UK for certain models. Maybe u can ask the shop which model is fully imported one and the price that is below 4k. And then choose the best one lah.

Got more than that. Even some brand itself has another brand which they cater for higher/lower end of the market. Certain brands only do latex ones and certain brand does spring ones.

Hi , I read the above and would like to ask if your interested in specially made for hotels type of mattresses ? Such beds are more durable, have more and harder coils and material used are of higher quality. They are not found nor sold in retail outlets.

Pricing for some are reasonable n comparable to retail outlets as we have the qty to make up for it.

Do let me know if you have any queries.

go try on those mattress yourself. Get the one that you are most comfortable with.

I personally would go for dunlopillo or getha. These are the brand that produce non-spring mattress. I would not buy any mattress with spring. No matter how expensive they are, after some time, the springs will become uneven on parts you sleep often and parts that you don't sleep like the edges. So, you feel some part bulging and some part soften.

I only go for non-spring type of mattress. Dunlopillo have the best and is made of very high quality materials. That's why so expensive. Getha is new player in the market (i think) but still no spring is better for me.

abubin,

I have KingCoil boxspring mattress for at least 10 years now. Yes, you have to rotate the mattress every 3 to 6 months to prevent the unevenness. But, if you do that, it is NOT a problem. 5 star Hotel use box spring mattress. Air circulation is better for spring mattress. Boxspring mattress has individual box / section of spring and it is better. But, it is more expensive for good quality box spring mattress. I do not whether KingCoil's quality is still good.

Hi abubin,

hmm about the spring mattresses, it really depends on the type , make and number of springs used. Those that become uneven after a short while is when they lose their ''strength' and just pop up..lol. The reason they lose their strength could be , among other reasons ,being heated only once or for a short while only or the metal used is substandard quality.

The shape of the spring is another reason for ''jutting'' out springs. If its shape is not bended smoothly , not of an optimal shape , and not compact , and if the mattress fabric is not strong, after a little wear and tear, the fabric will become thinner and the unsmooth spring will be more prominently seen. Of course even if u had the strongest fabric and an 'unsmooth' spring , the 'unsmooth' spring will still jut out and still cause discomfort and damage to our bodies.

Oh and i need to stress the feature of '' compact''-ness. Compact here means the number of springs in the mattress. The more spring the better, then the surface of the mattress is seen and feels 'smoother ', no unevenness. each spring is closely surrounded at all sides by springs which in turn are closely surrounded at all sides by other springs etc etc , this creates a smooth transition from spring to spring. The spring we have is not the normal wave like spring. these do not work well. An example would be the ''bed of nails'' case. U wouldnt feel as much pain lying on a bed entirely covered with the sharp ends of nails than u would lying on just a few nails .

anyway, it is good u found what suits u , considering a lot of ppl dont sleep well =)

Few months back I was doing some research on mattresses as well. The 1 that interest me the most is Getha.

Right now I'm using latex mattress. No need to rotate, no need to flip over. Good for people that's allergy to dust mite. If budget limited, get the 1 with thick layer of latex on the top say at least about 4-5inches and whatever spring on the lower part.

FYI, Dreamland is long established mattress maker and not from Amway.
I don't even know Amway is selling Dreamland's mattress.

I felt that Getha which is another local brand is quite good.

I am currently using Getha Transforme Series -bought one at RM3894 (after 15%) discount. It's a latex mattress and very comfortable. Cheaper than those pocket spring mattress which can easily cost RM5K or more. Very comfortable.

Some of the furniture shops i went to recommended Coconut fibre husk' mattress for my backache but it's very heavy and in a long run might not be too good for our spine.

There are rubber lattex, pocket spring and coil spring type to choose from. Price varies. Just go try your self.

You cant get Dunlopillo with 1.5k otherwise I would recommend that. Since when Amway sell mattres? Never buy anything from Amway, they are simply overpriced. Read my post about how Amway con people with their lousy air purifier.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/79269

Amway normally mark up 6 times for things that selling through Amway marketting network. I have a friend who has a sole distrobutorship of a Japanese product tried with Amway, he told me that and I beleived what he said was true.

What ever brand you can buy, king coil, dreamland, sweetdream, getha just don't buy from AMWAY unless you are one of them.

Actually it is normal for any co. to mark up 6 times from the cost (or more) if there are more than 1 level of distribution and also depending on what kind of products and the brand. Eg. :-

Manufacturer - Distributor - 150%, Distributor - Reseller - RM150%, Reseller - Enduser - 300% (varies acc to product and brand)

The more exclusive the brand the higher the markup .. eg. what do u think the cost is for a Jimmy Choo ladies shoe selling at RM10k a pair?

Of coz if u compare apples to apples the price should be the close ie. If Jimmy Choo at Retail Shop A is RM10k then Jimmy Choo at Retail shop B should also be close to RM10k. Or, Dreamland at retail shop = RM3k, Dreamland at Amway should be +/- RM3k also. Most MLM companies have high lvl of markup so that is the main reason they market products that are exclusive to them, or they may have a very low initial cost otherwise they won't be able to compete with other retailers.

Sometimes a reseller may mark up many times depending on their cost and purchasing power. Eg. Carefour may mark up 100% for a tin of milo because they buy in container loads and still sell cheaper than a kedai runcit who can only buy a carton and mark up 20%.

I kinda agree with some of your points, but try to explain why Amway is selling a lousy air purifier at Rm 4k? I did prove Amway air purifier sucks and they did sell at 4k, didn't I?

If you are in any manufacturing line before, you should know for most of the consumer products, there is no way you can mark up 150% to your distributors, you think your distributors are nuts? Distributors to resellers another 150% mark up, do you again think resellers are nuts? And Enduser being markup 300%, do you think enduser like you and me are nuts?

I kinda don't agree with you exclusive brand cost more, can I sell my KLSOONER brand shoes to you at 10k? It is exclusive isn't it, one and only one in the world, some more hand made. ( I will make sure I hand made it to you if you willing to pay 10k) Do you really think Jimmy Choo's shoes cost 10k because they are "exclusive"? think again!

OEM air purifier from China and put your own brand in it is also exclusive, what so special about exclusive??

Why do you care how much Carefour mark up when you have the "choice" to compare price with the Milo from Kedai runcit Ah Huat? Are you trying to tell me you will buy from Ah Huat even his Milo is 50 cents more expensive than Carefour because Carefour mark up 100% and Ah Huat only mark up 20%?

Why buy from Amway when you can buy from retail shop? You can try on your own about how comfort the bed is and try from one shop to another and have price comparison. Buying a bed from catalogue without laying your butt on it is just plain stupid.

Do not further go off topic. Just leave it as it is.

You may however create another topic in Finance, Business and Investment House to discuss this and I think it would attract lots of comments.

Let's just focus on Mattress in this topic, shall we.

i think the more important issue is how u know ur mattress at watever brand is original? sometimes u see mattress promotion that is so good and cheap on popular brand.. u have to wonder... is it fake imitation stuffs?

i'm using Dreamland chiropractic something something.. bought for RM1.2K 4yrs ago.. it was nice and sturdy during the first yr... but the spring getting soft in the last 2 yrs...

and they say good mattress last 10yrs... so now i doubt actually how real is my dreamland...

Sealy from USA is the top mattress brand. Tempure from Germany is rated third in the world. Anyway, i recently bought a Vono Spinal Care Deluxe Queen-sized mattress for RM1860 (after some discount) and a Goodnite Euphony King-sized mattress for RM1950 (also after some discount). Vono belongs to Slumberland and is a British brand while Goodnite is a local brand but they do produce mattresses that are comparable to other middle range mattress makers. Each mattress has their own pros and cons. I wouldn't say which one is better and which one is not. You just has got to try it yourself before you burn your cash. And if you are rich, you might as well got for Sealy or Tempure because they really live up to expectation.

Oh, you are referring to me?

I did try on Chiromax pro mattress in other shops as well instead of looking from the catalogue. What the different between both was the price, warranty and the freeware.
Thanks for your advice, I will take note of that.

Let get back to the topic which mattress to go for instead which shop to go.
KLsooner, if you hv other points to enlighten, feel free to pm me. rolleyes.gif

Not sure, but one thing for sure is it's going to be heavy and I don't know...to me, it's not comfy.
I got a friend who imported one from China as he imported lot's of furnitures and finishings from China back to build his own bungalow.
It took 3-4 of us to move the king size bed........ rclxub.gif
But he is saying it's good for posture and ventilation.

Coconut fibre is the best. It's firm and I sleep like a log. You can get coconut fibre mattresses in many furniture shops in the Klang Valley. I got it from my neighbourhood furniture shop.

Mattress price just like furniture price. Sometimes they quoted you very high then give you very good discount. Prob is those manufacturer puting the retail price in such hight then give 50% or more discount.
Zone matress and coconut fibre is very good choice.
I also looking for matress. any matress below 700 which is worth to buy? Pls share your opinion based on my budget.

Hi , I just bought a Mattress too... , did try to go to some warehouse sale but didnt manage to get anything from there... after a lot surveying @ Furniture shop & I decided to get : KING COIL MATTRESS - PUTERI ... around my budget... Haven't sleep on it yet ??.. Not yet deliver to my house...

* Price range for Queen Size around RM 600.00 - RM 650.00 after discount ( depends on what u buy there , Buy more things like other furniture may get more discount ).... , here are some basic specs of it :-

KING COIL MATTRESS - PUTERI ...
9" Thick , Turn Free Mattress , Imported Damask , Ticking Everlast Foam , Chiropractic Coil , 10 Years Warranty , Reliable Brand......

i personnally think the Price is reasonable to get the above specs ..... Anyhow , U have to Feel & Like the Mattress , & person to person is different ..... & regarding ikea mattress , I personally think it is a bit Soft for me... Like it a bit Hard..... biggrin.gif

As for Ikea, medium consider ok. But firm one cost 1k above.
Any one try rebond type? So call man made rubber. Is cheaper then sprice but better than foam type.

Wow 3-5k matress? blink.gif

I have one:
- Silent night - RM1.1k - 12" mattress pocket spring. Happy about it although maybe less durable at the edges. But you don't sleep at the edges and if you don't have kids jumping on them it's ok.

- Orhorest - RM1.2k - 12" chiropedic coils. This bed is very firm. It's firm even on the corner/edges and supposed good for spine (as it's firm). It was the cheapest but solid mattress I could find. Cons: Some may find it a bit hard for their taste.

I love the ones with a 2" memory foam cushioning on the top but those costs at least 2k.

Hi Eng tat , Yes .. This is the One ...

KING COIL MATTRESS - PUTERI ...
9" Thick , Turn Free Mattress , Imported Damask , Ticking Everlast Foam , Chiropractic Coil , 10 Years Warranty ...
* I remember Seeing the TURN FREE wording all over the Back of the Mattress..., wonder why it is not written on the Website hmm.gif ......

The BEST Buy Price written on the Website RM 1458 ( Queen size ) , if u read properly .. it is price of Full Bedset ( w/ Divan & Headboard ) ... i remember seeing the RRP is around RM 849 ... usually they will give around 20% discount... if u are a good bargainer & u buy more things from them , i think can get around 600.00 - RM 650.00...

Anyhow, this is the Lowest Range of TURN FREE 9" Thick Mattress By King Coil with Chiropractic Coil ,
Wat i can say is ... No matter Wat, sure cant compare with PUTERA , MAHARAJA ..... Which is 1k & above.....& also the CHIRO-TECH Series which is RM 2k - RM 3k .... MAHKOTA , ULTIMA is RM 3k above..... at the end of the day its up to individual , wat kinda budget & wat kinda range one willing to go for.... biggrin.gif

pocket spring also good for the first few yrs , after that it sinks.

the best is spring, miracoil spring. double heated and triple Z shaped for extra strength. our customers none have complained and they last 10 yrs ...

Is Latex better than Pocket Sprint mattress ? Yesterday went to Miva and the salesman told me Latex is better and more long lasting as pocket spring no matter how good it is also will become softer after few year, how true is this statement ?

He keep recommending Naturatex. is it good ?

Anyone using vono back relaxer or similar vono / slumberland mattress?

I just got a queen full set and I find the mattress a bit firmer than when I tested it at the showroom. Anyway, where can I find affordable latex topper? Getha's latex topper going for RM700+ after disc (queen).

thanks.

Can anyone recommend a Slumberland dealer that will give a good price on a mattress?

After testing out mattresses at Robinsons and various shops I think i've found the perfect one - Slumberland Crown Jewel. I would classify it as "cushion firm", it doesnt have the bounce of latex neither is it immobilising like memory foam, somewhere in-between.

Unfortunately the asking price at Robinsons, and a slumberland shop on Jln Maarof Bangsar was rather steep RM5200 and RM4800 respectively for queen size. Waaay beyond my budget - and doesnt even include the divan. Are there better places to look?

Anyone tried Sanctuary (bio ceramic)? The pillow top is using similar materials as the Crown Jewel but somehow i feel that the springs are much harder.

i think the more important issue is how u know ur mattress at watever brand is original? sometimes u see mattress promotion that is so good and cheap on popular brand.. u have to wonder... is it fake imitation stuffs?

i'm using Dreamland chiropractic something something.. bought for RM1.2K 4yrs ago.. it was nice and sturdy during the first yr... but the spring getting soft in the last 2 yrs...

and they say good mattress last 10yrs...  so now i doubt actually how real is my dreamland...

The problem is due to the diameter of the spring inside the mattress. It is common for the manufacturer to cut cost by using less or smaller diameter spring for its mattress. Hence the mattress would only be good for few years.

Go and try out pocket spring + memory form mattress. You might like it tongue.gif I have got 2 mattresses in the past few years from a local manufacturer, and the quality has been thumbup.gif This company exporting most of their mattresses to Japan. Locally they are no so popular as they don't advertise on newpaper and etc. Do check out Simoni mattresses if you are shopping for a new bed.

P.S. I'm not related to the company, nor do I get any $$$ from them. Just sharing a good product here biggrin.gif

Hi, I am looking for mattress and recently looking at Orthorest. Does anyone know the thickness of memory foam and is it pocket spring for the mattress below?

Orthorest Platinium Ultima
Orthorest Reflection
Orthorest Viscopedic
Orthorest Perfect Kontour

I am looking for individual pocket spring mattress with at least 2" memory foam at the top. So far other brand come in mind is King Koil Mister America.

Normally the shops would have a sample for all the models which would show you what is inside the mattress. So far I only have seen few pocket spring with memory form mattress out there.

Alternative you could get a pocket spring mattress and look for seperate piece of memory form (like a mattress protector) to make up the combination. Otherwise just ask the dealer to contact the factory to request for your needs. As some models may be available for their export market sales, but not available locally.

Are you refering to Transforme Harmony? Are you getting the quote from Getha
showroom?

As far as i know, only the king size mattress itself (exclude bedframe) for Transforme Harmony
king size would cost you around RM3.3k.
It should be a good & fair deal if you can get both the mattress & bedframe at RM4k.
Pls make sure it is Transforme Harmony type cause Getha got other Harmony mattress but
not belongs to the latest Transforme series.

From what I have research and mattress expert told me, Napure technology are better and quality used especially for Latex product. Getha are Malaysia made. Some of Napure product are made in Germany. You could try asking for Tempur too.

I've tried it, its a pocket coil system, with a outside frame that when you sit on it, it doesnt sag after awhile. I believe it has a rather high # pocket coil count 350+ or something. Its quite nice.

Depends on if you like firm or plush, their plush ones are nice, firm is quite good for the back. I find that they are damned expensive in Malaysia, about 10-20k for a king or 8-12k for a queen. Sometimes @ robinson you can get them for half off with an additional 1000 or 2000 back.

I can't remember very well, but I think the Shangri La is using the Simmons, if its not simmons its Sealy. But overall its quite nice. Although I've never been able to do the thing like the commercial where you put a cup of wine and jump on the other side. Everytime I even put a cup with some rocks inside it always falls over.

@rainpocky,
A friend recommended Simmons but when I shifted and started looking at mattresses, mom thought I was crazy [then again, the price is indeed on the high side!]. I ended up with a high-end (dunno what it's called) Dunlopillo instead !

As my knowledge, the answer is no. tongue.gif

Mattress pad : About 1-3 inch for extra comfort your mattress.
Mattress protector : Cover your mattress from bacteria/dirt.

depends on your budget. some people don't want the hasle to buy seperately.
but it's lack of design & choices if u buy it together. it's cheaper anyway....

some will buy seperately because they want special bedframe but it'll cost more.
but beware, the divan must support the weight of the mattress
coconut fiber bed is very heavy & not suitable for those "fish bone" divan.

fish bone = wooden planks across the divan.

yes, i did compare the bed already. i doubt is recon as comes with warranty card and sealed in the plastic. no used sign as well or any fault as on my view. btw the shop owner is quite friendly (very very small shop) the rest of the item that he sell also quite cheap. also the stock is ready as i know. At first i didnt believe also as i thought he refers to other model/nrand, he ask me go and have a look first at the display model, to my suprise its really King Koil matress lor although only got a few model.

With your budget of 2K, you can get higher model than Silvery like the Maharaja series. I think Maharaja, you can get for RM1250 in Puchong plus Divan about RM650 is bout RM1900.

Renov system (Zen Gallery) in Puchong. It is behind the Tesco. It is one of the furniture shop along the row which is in L shape. However, he offered me RM1250 but I did not take it because I did not like the textual of it.

But be extra careful when dealing with the sales guy there. One of the past customer bought a lot of furniture, but when it is delivered to the customer, the quality was substandard. It is not the same as what have displayed. However, this case occured because the customer paid in full before accepting the goods. In other words, this shop is not honest enough.

Unfortunately, I have paid the deposit. So for me, I have been extra cautious. I have told him umpteen times that if the wardrobe is not to the standard that he showed me, I will not pay him. Now it is still not fully paid yet because he still owe me some items which he forgot to deliver. So be extra careful if you decide to buy from him. However, he can really give good price if you can bargain with him and the wardrobe quality is really very good and solid. he boasted himself as wardrobe king.

I was happy with it but now still waiting for the missing items. whistling.gif

What is king koil dico? king koil silvery very cheap only RM700-800 can get for queen size but our friend up stairs can get better offer.
Silvery is not pocketed mattress and not latex topper, so it's cheaper.

Cool never thought there is mattress discussion in Lowyat Forum.

I'm in a midst of buying a mattress as well. Rite now I'm torn between buying Getha Transforme Full Natural Latex and Getha Cashmire (Brand New Model and still not displayed in their website). I am getting a very good price for the mattress as I am buying the my whole house furniture with this particular shop.

I did test on both of them multiple times ald and going to do so again tomorrow before I decided on one. Any feedback on Getha product? I'm a bit afraid regarding the warranty as I read a complaint hereGetha Complaint .

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Simoni latex $900 (2 layers - latex, foam) *malaysian made, exported to japan*
Cavenzi full latex $1,000
Spring air $1,600 (latex, pocket spring) *american brand, malaysian made*
Getha inner green $1,830 (4 layers - polyfil, latex, coconut fibre, pu foam) *malaysian brand, malaysian made*
Getha togetha $2,550 (4 layers - cotton ticking, 7zone latex, 5zone pin core latex, latex core base)
Getha transforme harmony $2,709 (nano silver, anti static, alternate layers of latex, foam, coconut fibre)

Such a big difference between getha & other brands unsure.gif

Saw this ads say cheaper mattresses from factory call MFO ie Mattress Factory Outlet.

Went there over the weekend in Sunway and they do have a lots of mattresses but not sure if the prices if indeed really cheaper. I have set my eye on this KingKoil Super Single that is dual layer. Latex on top, with foam and spring underneath. Firm and solid. Good feel with 10yrs warranty.

Asking price is RM930.. forgot the model name.

Anyone have bought any mattresses from them?

Heh.. anyone tried the TEMPUR Mattress before?
How is it? I heard one negative thing is the loss of "bounce" feeling during "xxx". tongue.gif

I am thinking of buying a TEMPUR... but expensive!
RM 11k + for queen!!!

Is there any other brand that's similar to TEMPUR that you're aware of?

oh really?.... is the feel similar as Tempur?
Is it full memory mattress or mix with the spring/form?

If it's almost as good (or better),
i think 6k++ is more reasonable then 11k+ for a mattress...

Yup when u on "action" u really sunk into it & will be sort of hard to maneuver (ha..ha...) .
The mattress will be firm during cold and soft when warm. Due the this nature, it will be "holding" you into position when you sleep (esp the air-con is on).

But, one of the experience to share is, it seem to be less movement/turning during sleep..... and it do help especially for those with back problem (i.e. Slipped Disc).

Sort of agree that the price on the high side but at the end i think is still worth it as i spend almost 1/4 of my life on it........... & it is cheaper than most of our others purchase.... (i.e. Car)... Juz to share.

Heh thanks for you feedback!...

I assume you have a TEMPUR... where did you buy it and how much?
Where's the best bargain in your opinion?

I agree with you that 1/4 of our lilfe is spend on sleeping.

But what's your though comparing a good spring mattress compare to TEMPUR?
Is it really that much more confortable on TEMPUR... or
you have consider just switching back to spring mattress.

I have using the Dreamland Chiro Pro 3 (miracoil one) for about 2 years now. Very good firm mattress but want to upgrade to a king size. We found the EL-100 (Eric Leong series) from Goodnite was compareable and is a lot cheaper. Anyone have feedback on Goodnite - double posture coil DPC system ? Dont know if its as good as the Miracoil.

The other brand I can vouch for is Slumberland - but its hard to find retailers where I live (in sarawak).

i am getting a napure... book almost few months back in midvalley when they are doing a road show there.. its a latex matrees.. plan to get a king size at 3500.. with a divan... not sure is it the best offer.. but at least i wont afford to pay up to 6-10k for a mattres...

there are so many choices out there.. it really depends on what u need and can u afford it. there are mattress range from few hunderds to thounsands.. but better invest a bit more to get a good nite sleep..

spring is def good for night activitites.. reduce our movement to trust as the spring is doing half your job. while latex, u need to work and burn more fat.. therefore.. latex is better for health.. hehehe

The EL series is on promotion price now. It will go up later.

This series is good quality with DPC and durable. Goodnite also give 12 years warranty (confident).

Good buy!

hi all,

i was checking out mattresses for the past few days when i found out that the price will go up from 1 July onwards...so i'm trying to lock down my purchase asap, if possible by today....the problem is... i don't really know which brand/model to choose...

i've only check out Dunlopillo and Getha brands so far....any recommendations?

so it's easier for me just to check out the recommended brand/model instead of slowly searching for it...
thanks.

most important is u go to their show room.. then try out all the mattress they offer there.. then u only compare which one is nicer to sleep. then o check the company background on which one is good.. and also your budget is very imp.. some mattress can goes up to 10k... and as low as 500...

Hello all sifu, i need some advice. no experience buying mattresses before.

In general, lets say the price listed there retail as $9000 and the slashed price given is $6000 (both advertised there), can the $6000 still be nego'?

i am looking at an eclipse spinal zone king size mattress. anyone can vouch this brand any good?
the price listed by one company is $5999 for just the mattress alone. I nego' (supposedly) and the salesman throwing in the free divan and foundation, 2 pillows, 1 mattress protector, and 1 bolster for rm5900 total with delivery included.

the only other place i went that offered this model is harvey norman and they listed the same model (under different name but is same if im not mistaken) for rm6500. rm5800 after discount. but not including the bed and divan etc. all in is rm7500.

obviously i will not go back to harvey norman but am wondering can i still nego' the price on the 1st company or is it good value already?

the mattress itself is pocket spring, has also memory foam latex on top of it. with spinal care technology. anti-dust mites.
supposedly its medium firm bed so im afraid if its also not strong enough to support my 120kg frame. add to that if get married and with wife 200kg, can it withstand the weight?

the other brands i tried are sealy, serta and tempur at harvey norman, liked sealy and tempur but waay too steep for me to justify in my head.

the eclipse mattress has proven clinical studies for its spinal zone system and is proven. so please advise if something else may suit me or if the price is still negotiable, should i haggle them even more? moving next month or december so still got time to browse around.

I have just place deposit for Dreamland - Platinum Royale, the sales person said that mattress is new series, i slept on it and it is really good, superb firm good for back support. It cost me rm1780 + free gifts. (got it from the furniture mall beside kl - seremban highway, on your left hand site when u drive towards KL )

Any one owned this mattress? Kindly share some of the info...

Those who have budget, can go for this model. Another one which i feel good was Goodnight DPC, there is one model also quite similar feeling with this Dreamland Platinum Royale.

I'm looking for firm mattress and currently eyeing on king koil fiberlatex (old name is latextra) where below is fibre and top is natural latex. Do you guys know where I can get the best price for this mattress? Currently the cheapest price I can get is rm1050 (queen size) from puchong decopoint. I also like King Koil Maharaja too but cheapest they offer is rm1700++ (queen size). I think is over price as in here some of u mention only rm1300. Please let me know where I can get cheaper and reliable King Koil product.

I am now using Ikea Sultan single bed spring mattress can't remember which range but it gives me bad back ache everyday I wake up.... darn

Although it gives you 25 years warranty, do you really want to take it back to ikea? since we don't own a lorry? and the question is am i still willing to sleep more onto that particular mattress which has given me back ache for more than 2 years?

Hi, I'm looking for King Koil mattress, any nice bargain in Johor Bahru?
Are there any warehouse sale or Year End Sales for mattress in Johor Bahru?

I know most of the retailer will get extra discount/incentive from their supplier/manufacturer to push their year end sale figure now.

so far i think, i will choose king koil maharaja,

the reason

1. pocket spring - allowing individual movement in perfect harmony with the body contours and minimizing partner disturbances.
2.price affortable - between 1500 - 1600
3.turn FREE - meaning every 3 month i dont have to turn it
4.good feedback from alot of customer

planning to get a KingKoil Silvery Queen size. from the price of RM999, i got 950. then another shop offered me price RM1850 in wangsa maju. damn flying high price. ofcos i shoot back tat fella. and ended up, he gave me price RM799 wit delivery included.

Now, i saw these thread, RM830 can get a king size. better i get a king size rather than queen size. smile.gif

I seriously like Shangri-La's hotel mattress. Again, dad told me all hotel mattresses are made-to-order with thickness, springy-ness or whatever that fits their requirement. ARGH. maybe i should email the hotel GM to find out. tongue.gif

Even if Sealy is available thru retail, still, won't be able to get the exact type that Shangri-La uses. Made to order is extremely costly. Oh well, better luck next time.

Anyone use Reztec before? Suppose the maker is also the person behind napure.

I order a twin layer EuroRez 10in for super single. First layer is latex and then spring foam. It come with divan and headboard (PU covered) for RM1k delivered.

Hi All....

Hoping if you can share your mattress purchase experience.

Thinking of getting a Getha Mattress after trying their
"Dream 9 Zone"... selling King Size at RM 6450 (after discount).
It sure is comfortable but i am concern about the
reliability and company reputation.

I saw this post about Getha and got kind of worried about their mattress.
http://www.malaysiabrides.com/forum/index....showtopic=12803

Anyone have used a Getha mattress before ?
How's the quality like?

Also thinking about Dunlopillo Latex + Spring mattress, tried at Tropicana mall…
It's called "Brighton" selling King Size at RM 5440 (after discount)

Anyone have used a Dunlopillo mattress before ?
How's the quality like?

Any other feedback on other brands is welcome.

Thanks!

Couldn't access your post on Getha. Just got a wall of threads.

I've used both Getha and Dunlopillo. The 100% latex/rubber type. Getha can't last more than 6-7 years whilst Dunlopillo can exceed 10 years before becoming stiff & lumpy. I made the switch to Getha thinking they branch out from Dunlopillo UK and at that time latex price was sky rocketing.

These days I just buy fiberlux should any of my mattress needs to be replace. I don't think I should spend so much, and for hygiene reason, to change my mattress every 6 years.

after reading all the 16 pages, looks like not many vono supporters here.

well, i might look for vono king size soon.
got a kingkoil puteri but not really like it. now addicted to pocketed spring. the vono i've at hometown now is really good for me. Bought in it 2007 RM1400 with divan set queen size. The cheapest pocketed spring range.

I am currently using the Dunlopillo 10 inch latex mattress. I find the edge of the mattress lacking in support, as you might just roll down onto the floor if you sleep to close to the edge. When I first tried the mattress in the shop, it feels like you are sleeping in the clouds. However after sleeping in it for 1 year I found it a bit too soft for my back. The best i found is putting an inch of Dunlopillo latex mattress on firmer mattress. In that way, you have a firm mattress but not too hard on the bony prominence of your back and shoulder. Oh one more thing. The 10 inch latex Dullopillo is very costly!

How about Getha? Anyone had any experience of using Getha for couple of years?
How's did the mattress hold-up. Warranty an issue?

I tried Getha the same day I bought Dunlopillo. I would say i was very impressed with the sales technique. They let u tried the special mattress to determine what kind of mattress suits u best. But Dunlopillo's latex is more comfortable. Generally mattresses from better brands hold up very well.

Really? The sales person told me Getha is from UK, rubber from Malaysia. Getha sounds very much like Getah in malay.

For those who said Getha is good....

Sure, I do feel the mattress is very confortable
and thier sales pinch is #1.
But can they last? Does Getha keeps it's warranty promisses?

Check this out

Anyone used a Getha mattress for more then 3-5 years now?

I tested Getha transforme series at desa petaling the other day. Those with wool toppings were awesomely comfy. The best of all was natural latex. But then I ended up buying spring power because it was $400 cheaper, plus freebies and GPS gadget.

I just bought mine today at SS2. When I receive the mattress will check and let you know.

By the way, I bought king koil's Posturex 5 years ago. It was recommended by my chiropractor because i had a bad fall and hurt my back. he said king koil pocket spring mattress is good. ABout 6 months sleeping it started to sag a bit on the buttock area. Sent it back to King Koil, 2 weeks later came back...is like the same, still sagging!

I slept on it for 5 years but feel that it has sagged a lot ..any other people have problem with king koil mattress? in the end i had to throw away the mattress. When i put it against the wall, it can't even stand straight, so u can imagine like so lousy ? by the way i am not heavy just 42 kg, so the mattress is not so good ya?

I bought king koil's maharaja because the salesman told me it is harder than the posturex. I hope it's true. Otherwise...waste money lorrrrrrrr. I dare not change other brand also because chiropractor say must sleep king koil pocket spring.

Anyone got better advise?

Hi all,

Just went to a mattress store at cheras and make booking of a Kingkoil mattress. Those who are having trouble and confused on which mattress to choose from (like myself) I highly recommended this store. Cos the manager, Matthew is really a mattress specialist. He'll spend his time to demo and explain all the differences of mattress, and also trying to work with your budget. We were there for almost 1.5-2hr. Very good explanation and service from him. It's worth a try to give him a visit. By the way, I just called him and aksed about the price of Kingkoil Maharaja, Kingsize RM 1680, and Queen about RM1300.

Store: Six color home design
address: Cheras furniture centre. Lot PT1569( Block A7), Bt 5 1/2, Jln Cheras, 56100 KL. (next to the cheers restaurant)

regards,
wong

I got my mattress king koil maharaja for a week already. I find that it traps heat, does anybody else have the same problem?

I don't sleep with air-con on, and previously i use another mattress and it was very cool to sleep in. After I change to king koil maharaja, every night feel the back so hot and sweaty, and the mattress is hot and the hotness also don't disappear after a day. Is it because it's too thick 12"?

Yeah... This is also my major concern. I am using Mattress World and it also trap heats.. When the weather is hot, it can be unbearable... Can only sleep peacefully after air-con is on. I sometimes have to switch to the other side so that it won't be too hot for my back... Appreciate any recommendation for good mattress that can solve this problem ...

I'm using Dunlopillo Eco Pure Latex mattress. Its really solid and doesn't trap much heat (even with mattress cover).

However, please avoid buying from Decor-Point. Really bad customer service over there.

it hard to get maharaja king size for that price, maybe the price only for the show unit, average shop sell maharaja around 1400 - 1500

*
something wrong with ur maharaja, for my maharaja, it feel very confortable even im not on air-con, i think u need to make sure your room ventilation is ok, becoz all mattress need ventilation

Hi all,

Great thread here, the info was very useful when I went mattress shopping. smile.gif

I got a quote for a Serta Perfect Night queen size mattress for RM5,880, inclusive of transport and free 2 pillows. The salesman said he is charging me single bed size for queen size mattress. Can anyone give me feedback whether this is a good deal? Thanks!

Yes, from Bliss at Section 16. Unfortunately I barely have enough space for queen size bed so that's the biggest I can get, otherwise I'd definitely go ahead with a king size. smile.gif

For RM5.8k, can get a king size perfect night, plus freebies of 2 serta latex pillows, a mattress protector, a long pillow, a bolster and a mattress topper was offered by Bliss a few weeks ago. I think you should be able to do better for that price you were quoted for.

I tried out Slumberland Royal Duke model in Macy Sleep Studio, and the price king-sized mattress + divan is around RM9000 after 25% discount (with 15 years warranty tho) still... O_O; the king-sized mattress cost around RM5200+ and if that's a fair price? I'll have to get a new bedframe/divan for this king size

The salesman there mentioned outside Macy other furniture/retail shop doesn't sell that particular model, but I wonder if anyone heard or seen this particular model before in furniture store around KL?

Outside shops do not sell Slumberland Royal Duke because "Royal Duke" is the series created for Macy Sleep Studio to sell at much higher price.

Royal Duke could be Royal Princess,Royal Emerald, Royal Bliss, Royal Jewel, or Royal Heaven.

p/s : Royal series normally comes with PPS3600.

Many Slumberland series available from Harvey Norman also not available elsewhere because the labels have been changed, ie different exterior but same interior.

I just went to Bliss S.16 yesterday and found a new SERTA Mattress called Serenity Luxury. It looks and feels wonderful. The price is RM6.8k but they gave me a free leather bedframe with that. I'm really serious about getting it. They told me the Perfect Night mattress is discontinued and upgraded now to this new Serenity mattrress. You should really try it out.

Thinking of either

Slumberland Intamacy

Or

Getha Harmony

Which do you guys recommend?
The salesman recommended the Getha, said got good feedback. Worried long term usage that the latex will sag. Anyone using Getha for long? The
Getha is nice and plush. Might be their topping material. The Slumberland is firm but not so plush.

Have back problem. Is the Getha firm enough?

since u have back problem, u should not consider latex mattress as it is soft and no support to your spine.

for many buyers, soft mattress ie latex, memory form...etc = good taste. however, that is good for short term.

latex = rubber-made material. how everlasting the latex will be in the hot room especially in the afternoon 12pm-3pm throughout 5 years?

just imagine an eraser, the eraser will become harder after several years and easily crush when u rub it on the paper.

so, what about latex layer mattress or full latex mattress??

Back just a little stiff. Too much sitting infront of PC.

I read that latex will actually last longer than spring coils.

Anyway the getha Harmony is medium firmness. Latex base with Memory foam top. How does it compare to Slumberland?

Anyone used Slumberland?

Hello everyone,

I am shopping for a mattress. Just wondering:

1. Is there any benefit from using a pure latex mattress ? What about latex + memory foam + fiber at the top , and pocket spring at the bottom? Which one is better?

2. I saw this promotion when I was doing shopping for my bed. I am looking at D'Love and Royal Star.... anyone has any thoughts?

I bought SweetDream mattress from HomeStar puchong last week with price RM2199 for King and 1899 for Queen size bed. It's pocket spring type and according to the promoter it's a new launch for their Ionizer mattress.
The mattress is 14" thick.

There are having fair now and you can get their bed frame at cheaper price too.

i'm interested in full natural latex mattress, currently knew a few brands, Napure, Getha and Mylatex... and i already read thru the habitatfurnishing.com, as it suggested, looking for simple full latex mattress, best with dunlop latex as core and talalay latex as top.

any recommandation? and of cos, i'm not rich guys who can affort high price mattress wink.gif

Angel...sorry to tell u la...Napure is fake German brand. Factory I heards somewhere in Klang. They use a German flag and claim from Germany one. My friend in mattress factory told me this and I also check with other people and shocked to find out they are not telling truth. Lucky I didn't buy this brand. Ask them to refund if really not German brand lor or else u tell them will report to Trade Ministry. Then u can buy cheaper and better brand.

it is hard to judge how long lasting a full latex mattress can go since there is no report/record on the latex durability.

all the sellers only promote that latex mattress is soft, nice to sleep, comfortable...etc

my dunlopillo pillow (full latex) Rm350 becomes hard and sagging after 3 years of using.

it is common sense to say that natural latex wont last as long as other good pocketed spring mattress.

is it from furniture shop or harvey norman? if HN then u can easily use the deposit for other electrical stuff.

u should go and try out available mattresses around, then decide which one is more comfortable for you. expensive doesn't means that it's suitable, the most important is your sleep. furthermore, mattress is consumable item and u need to change it after years of usage.

Isn't Ikea mattress good?

Ikea has the worst mattress i've ever known. They are not really that cheap compared to other BIG reputable names but comfort-wise is really just subpar. Just a quick google around for any Ikea's Sultan series of mattresses and you'll find more bad reviews than good.

The only good thing i salute about Ikea is their customer service and warranty.

Anyway, just to share my past experience here...

Went to check out their Sultan Hamnvik (a combo of top latex w/ pocket springs) during a weekend and tested their display sets. There's even a chart that advises you which firmness is suitable for you depending on your weight category. Mine's medium. At that time, it felt just right. So i got the single one. It burned RM995 in my pocket.

Now see...the problem here is that many ppl have vandalized sat/laid on those display sets countless number of times and this could've affected the firmness of the mattress. Got home with the brand new one (felt firmer), sleep thru it and to my utter dissappointment, only to find my whole back is aching the very next morning i woke up. GOD! it felt worse compared to my RM40 foammy. I was wondering could it be due to my sleeping posture or was it just me. Once my mum and sis knew about this, they too take turns and tried the bed. Same. Freaking back-ache too the very next morning! sad.gif

I got so dissappointed that i return it the next weekend (Did this after browsing the web on similar issues experienced by others, regretted that i should've done this earlier). Ikea has a no-frills 100-day Return Policy for their mattresses and their customer service was efficient with the full refund thingy. This, i gave a thumb up! But their mattresses, a definite 2 thumbs down!!!! mad.gif

So went hunting around for a replacement and finally settled with a Napure full natural latex (~RM1.4k). Mannn...never knew sleeping could be such a bliss. It's almost 2 months now and i'm happily looking forward to my bed whenever it's almost zzz time! rclxm9.gif

Yes, it's true. It can be quite misleading when they use a German flag as their brand logo. And yes they are produced locally. But it was claimed that they have undergone stringent tests and passed quality tests/certification by several world renowned German bodies & standards. These are found all over their website. If they are pulling your leg on this, then you have all the rights to report to Trade Ministry. smile.gif

Most important of all, only buy a mattress which you're comfortable with. Price and label does not mean everything. Sometimes, a 2k mattress could suit you better compared to 10k ones. It all depends on individual. And of course, don't forget the warranty.

Is brand really that important? I have two option to choose from with my budget which is King Koil and Goodnite the thing is I would prefer King Koil over Goodnite on the brand wise but Goodnite over King Koil on the comfort and feel wise rclxub.gif
