My second parcel is detained by customs.

Question, if I havent sorted out my first parcel which is still with customs (and the 15 days limit is approaching), should I drive to KLIA to claim two parcels. I'm thinking to save some money but I'm afraid they will claim two separate orders are less than RM500 individually but when add them up, it's more than RM500. In that case, it's not worth it for me to drive all the way there and instead just ask Poslaju to help me settle with some additional fee.

Both parcels are supplements.

Any thoughts? kherel77

1. Import declaration is made per shipment. Means 1 AWB per Customs K1 Form. There is no such thing combine several AWB per 1 declaration.
2. Detained for what reason? taxable? wrong Tariff Code? Need import permit/approval? As supplement is under MOH to approve it, not Customs them self.

You should know the reason first before ask Pos Laju to settle it as import permit/license under MOH have to apply by yourself.

Hopes that will help.

Called them. They said custom detains randomly. I got the letter today. Didn’t say exactly what’s wrong with my items other than need to declare all again. I’m very sure the box contains invoice on the outside for customs reference but I guess they want to earn some money from me.

No reason given unfortunately, they told me they randomly detain parcels.

Without the notice letter from them, can I ask go to customs to get the item with the tracking number? I already received the letter for 1st parcel, but still waiting for my 2nd letter for the 2nd parcel.

Hi.. Anyone know if buying cigar oversea for personal use over 250g need to apply permit prior to claim back the cigar? Is it valid? Its only 23 stick fyi

The poslaju track status did not put detained in customs but delivered to mail processing center.

Anyone know if the detain were valid?

Anyone know the correct info if that small amount could be exempted at all or would not need permit due to small amount and personal use.

I agree with kherel77 on the reason of your items being detained.
Supplements as with medicine & cosmetic products need registration with National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, NPRA. Seems only local individuals or companies can be the registration holder. I had similar problem with skin care products. Though they are available and registered (notified) here, but the shipper/ dealer is not.
Better clarify with customs office or shipping agency. If due to NPRA held back, should have a letter to you... n given 30days to respond....

Hope this helps.

Seems like custom in each states handle things differently. They hold around 4 packages of mine each different shipment date. Each value at rm300. I received 4 letters meaning they didn’t arrived at the same shipment. The officer combined all together and charge me because if count separately they cannot tax me and it’s not the 1st time already because I received parcel weekly. So they just hold my packages until it reaches over 500. Fair to me?

Probably too late a reply but my seller told me 'they can't input the international shipping fee onto the supporting documents manually' and that the final preparation of the shipping papers is done by FedEx. I have also called/messaged FedEx's customer service but they didn't understand and tried to 'explain (we can't do anything)'; basically telling me to 'pay up' or have it returned.

I recently have a package (low value (even with shipping, it's RM460 but what is luck anyway), just a lot of used items/dead stock/junk stuffed into one auction lot but huge package) shipped via Japan Post and it's stuck in Customs. Didn't know how heavy it was until I paid for shipping.
Have appointed Pos Malaysia to clear my package but seeing as it's a 'junk lot', there's no detailed list of the items, value nor quantity.

Not sure how it'll turn out and hoping for the best.
*
My package arrived in Malaysia on Dec 11 and I emailed Pos Malaysia on the 13th with PayPal receipt and images of the auction only for them to ask me (again, on Dec 19) for a list of items, quantity and value for the things in the package.

It's a junk lot (basically a lot of items (CDs, collectibles, books and etc) regardless of condition for cheap) so I provided whatever I can source on the auction listing. I hope to hear from them soon seeing as it's going to be 14 days in Customs - worrying whether it'll be returned to sender or not.

I'm thinking that the weight of the package worried them (it's around 12kg) and the lack of proper description on my seller/sender's part (they listed as 'Postcard and keychain set (used)').

Note: I haven't got any notification by post that my package has been detained.

dear sifu's , need ur help here...

i ordered 3 items from amazon usa to be shipped to malaysia. The item is shipped via Aramex

item 1 - Brother brand small label printer with Bluetooth
item 2- a small toothbrush holder made of plastic
item 3 - a 6 pcs set of kitchen utensils - no knife , only pasta spoon,soup spoon..etc..

The cost of all these items is RM 300 and shipping cost it RM 90. So total is less than RM 400.

I received email from Aramex saying i would need sirim permit. WHich i knew before buying the label printer. Because it has bluetooth. communication device. So i know i cannot escape that, so thru online, emailed sirim, send product details and paid the sirim RM100 for the bluetooth label printer.

Now i receive email from Aramex, asking me to pay the duty Rm 80 + Rm30 Aramex Processing free. What happen to the rule of item below RM500 no need pay any tax or sst? Is aramex squeezing me? From the document i received, there is hs code declared for my item..but the categories under the item is more like for manufactures. I bought the item for personal use and not under any company.

Please advise. Would i be able to talk to customs and collect the item myself?

thank you.

First, did you know how exactly this rule apply for inbound shipment?

"Customs Duties Exemption Order 1988 Item#172: Any goods below RM500 CIF value using air courier services thru KLIA, Subang, Bayan Lepas, Senai, KK & Kuching airport will be duties/taxes exempted except cigarettes, liquors & tobaccos."

CIF Value = Invoice value + 1% insurance + IATA Freight Rate
Minimum 2018 IATA Freight Rate from USA to MY is RM535.54. So total up your shipment's CIF Value is more than RM500.00

Second, personal or company use will be applied under same Customs Act. No different.

Yes, you can try talk to Customs for their clemency & waived your duty/tax. Aramex won't do that on your behalf.

hi bro, thank you for your help. The minimum 2018 IATA Freight rate is typo? RM 535 or RM 35?
If minimum of 535 used to calculate CIF , how can the goods be below RM 500? So no matter what, need to pay duti and tax?

maybe will kena 5% tax.. does the player has bluetooth, wifi, nfc ? then will need to pay sirim.. could be RM100. If overall cost including shipping is over rm500.. then 10% sst also kena..

Yes, it's correct RM535.54. As USA is most further country from MY. The nearest neighbour country like SG=RM94.16, TH=RM89.48.
So, according to this act, every shipment from USA is not entitle for this exemption. But there is rumors that the limit will be extend to RM800.

We only pay if the item is dutiable or taxable. If the HS Code/Tariff Code indicate no duty or tax, why we want to pay, correct?

Update: I made a rough list of the items and gave it to Customs. Cleared without problems. The officer on the phone says I have to pay for forms and that's about it. Will make sure to notify my seller for an improved description of the package contents.

IATA rate is use in duties/taxes calculation only. Not to pay the exact amount... doh.gif
