That freight RM535.54 must be from forwarding agent in P.Pinang dealing with Pulau Pinang's customs.

Seriously only in Pulau Pinang so far I know they have this kind of thing. Usually target DHL forwarding services. Even if your item stated clearly on the invoice the shipping cost with signature, they will suka-suka put RM535.54 as if no shipping cost written in the invoice.

Thats why I ban DHL and Fedex for a long time now, and ask the international seller to ship to me using courier that link to Pos Malaysia.
Customs that work in Pos Malaysia Office will use the shipping cost on the inovice to calculate the CIF ( cost + insurance + freight ) and not put RM535.54 suka suka hati like the Pulau Pinang forwarding agent and customs.

And I tried to find this RM535.54 in Federal Gazette related to customs taxes, but I can't find it. Public should be aware of this.

This kind of practise really shady and I still keep the evidence until now.

I live in Selangor but encountered the same problem thrice. I still keep the papers from Customs and submitted a complaint (with documents and everything) but the status remains as 'under investigation' since September.

Likewise, I'm also staying away from private shipping companies.

can you check your invoice issued by seller for Kastam declaration? it could be that the shipping cost only listed in packing slip but not the invoice that Kastam checks.

i read in earlier post that is  because the invoice issued by the seller did not include the shipping cost, only the item cost. so Kastam will quote the XXX freight charges from the carrier (FedEx in this case).

Probably too late a reply but my seller told me 'they can't input the international shipping fee onto the supporting documents manually' and that the final preparation of the shipping papers is done by FedEx. I have also called/messaged FedEx's customer service but they didn't understand and tried to 'explain (we can't do anything)'; basically telling me to 'pay up' or have it returned.

I recently have a package (low value (even with shipping, it's RM460 but what is luck anyway), just a lot of used items/dead stock/junk stuffed into one auction lot but huge package) shipped via Japan Post and it's stuck in Customs. Didn't know how heavy it was until I paid for shipping.
Have appointed Pos Malaysia to clear my package but seeing as it's a 'junk lot', there's no detailed list of the items, value nor quantity.

Not sure how it'll turn out and hoping for the best.

My package arrived in Malaysia on Dec 11 and I emailed Pos Malaysia on the 13th with PayPal receipt and images of the auction only for them to ask me (again, on Dec 19) for a list of items, quantity and value for the things in the package.

It's a junk lot (basically a lot of items (CDs, collectibles, books and etc) regardless of condition for cheap) so I provided whatever I can source on the auction listing. I hope to hear from them soon seeing as it's going to be 14 days in Customs - worrying whether it'll be returned to sender or not.

I'm thinking that the weight of the package worried them (it's around 12kg) and the lack of proper description on my seller/sender's part (they listed as 'Postcard and keychain set (used)').

Note: I haven't got any notification by post that my package has been detained.

Update: I made a rough list of the items and gave it to Customs. Cleared without problems. The officer on the phone says I have to pay for forms and that's about it. Will make sure to notify my seller for an improved description of the package contents.
