Further to my first rule above, do research also on how to avoid the counterfeit/fake. They're getting better, but still fake nevertheless. Check this out

That's always a risk when buying online.
For peace of mind, pay a bit extra getting at AD or second hand watch shop here. At least you can check it on the spot.
Well is all up to you biggrin.gif

When it comes to Rollies, I suggest you don't go for the best deals. Usually the saying, "if it is too good to be true then it is too good to be true" holds well, especially for Rolexes.

Get a Rolex from one of the many ADs in town. You don't want to be saddled with a rolex that RSC deem 'unable to service' as it contains non-original parts. An unservicable rolex will only sell for around 40% of the 2nd hand market price.

RSC is quite strict with their Rollies. Once a Rolex is serviced by non-authorised service centers, they will not accept it. What I like about Rolex Service Center (RSC) is that they will not only buff out the scratches (making your watch look brand new) but will also fit it with new movements when it becomes available at no extra cost to the customer. My 10 year old Rolex was recently fitted with a new movement. Found that out when I check the date window, as the dates now look a bit more rounded (ala the new Milgauss and Submariner).

How long did RSC take to do that?
My new rolex was sent back a month ago and I was just found out i can only get it back in two months time, that means they're taking 3 months to get the problems fixed. The watch's only 4 months old.

I sent it through the AD where I bought the watch. It's a sports model. The moment I walked in to hand in the watch, the salesgirl immediately told me the warranty doesn't cover 'waterproof', mind you, mine's a water sports model which has yet to see 'water-use'.

My only consolation now is RSC is repairing this watch without additional expense to me, i was told. That is why my AD said they never bothered to call me to update me. A 2nd salesgirl accused me of not screwing back the crown hence the discolored dial.

If you know a better AD with better informed salesperson, I'm interested.

...so I dug out the warranty booklet..and yes, rolex's oystercase is guaranteed to be 'waterproof' to a depth of 100m, for this model...

...and it's supposed to remain 'waterproof' to a certain depth with the crown unscrewed.

btw, i just found out, mine's not water problem, it's defective, in s'pore now waiting from some parts form switzerland cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Qn: Anyone know whether there are any outlet selling legitimate, pre-owned Swiss watches, which come with original certificate in KL? NOT those "hot", stolen stuff in the "gold"/pawn shop!

BTW, never come across Patek Philippe Aquanaut presented as 5076. Need some educating from some highly respected sifu notworthy.gif rclxms.gif thumbup.gif . Moreover, IMHO, both JLC & A Lange are great watches in their own league, & beyond a shadow of doubt, can compete head on with the BIG 4 Swiss watches thumbup.gif .

With those PPs and Rolexes, you called yourself a newbie in Swiss watches and not a serious collector? You got to be kidding me sweat.gif
Do share some pictures of your collection.
There are few shops in Timsquare, Sg Wang, Summit USJ, Bangsar Village seling legitimate pre-owned watches, do check it out.

They are few pre-owned shops around KL/PJ area, i.e. Ampang Point, Timesquare, Sg Wang, Central Market, Summit USJ,, Bangsar Village.
Price would be low if you want to sell to them.
Alternatively, you can opt for consignment basis. Stated the price you desired, put the watch there, when is sold, collect the money from them.

3rd time trying to post today, unsuccess 'cos of the poor streamyx earlier! cry.gif

These outlets' timepieces mostly without cert; those allegedly with cert was of "archive extract" .................... unable to confirm the legitamacy of the piece. Moreover, they can't quarantee the completeness & originality of the movement within shocking.gif !

Is there any forum like Timezone or PuristSPro, which cater for WTS subforum locally? This can provide an avenue for "not serious watch collector" like me to share info, admire diff made of timepieces & to trade or exchange legitimately. icon_question.gif

Its always on caveat emptor basis (let the buyer beware). However, most of the shops are reputable, i.e. Passions in Bangsar Village. It will be more concern if you buy from individual seller through internet.
