fish is cheap, that is why the low cost cat food like whiskas and friskies is cheaper than other brand that use chicken and meat.

but you must remember, fish is not as rich as chicken and meat in term of protein and fat. the longer you steam or boil the fish, the more nutrition will be gone. so you end up feeding your cat with a very less nutri.

feeding raw food 24/7 will also lead to teeth tar tar problem, so you need to brush the cat teeth with recommended pet tools.

that's why you need to teach them to eat proper food.

kittens are like human kids. if you don't control, don't discipline, don't teach, don't bother, don't call their name = they end up spoil nod.gif

first of all, i was wondering how big and how old is that kitten anyway?

kitten start to learning eating by them self after 1 month old. if he is eating, so thats mean already 1 month old above.

you don't have to rub the private part, unless they are below 1 month old.

all kitten and cat do not like to be in cage. especially kitten, at this small age what they know is run and play.

i'm not sure how big is your cage actually.. hopefully it is not small, because when u put litter box, the empty space become smaller.

but if it is for secure, go buy the 3 tier cage.. big and huge.

then buy some toys and put it in the big cage. so entertainment.

if you have this small cage, sure he will get restless.
*
I'm not quite sure about his age, even his previous owner isn't sure herself, but they said he's around 2 months old. Maybe born late January or something. Well, I don't know how to estimate myself, but he's the biggest amongst his siblings.

I just saw some vids in youtube about rubbing the private parts, and yea the kittens are much more smaller than Willie (that's his name btw biggrin.gif ). Good thing is he actually know where to pee and poop : in the litter tray! Guess he has learned it before. But am still afraid coz who knows he might not find the place and ended up tercicir somewhere else. blink.gif

And now I don't put him in the cage at all, just let him roam freely around the living room and my bedroom, even when I'm out, but have to make sure that the environment is safe i.e closing the sliding doors etc. But what wonders me more is that he loves to lepak at ceruk2 and small places, but never liked the cage. Hurmm. The cage I bought was the 2 ft ones. Is it small? His favourite spot for now is under the TV cabinet which is of course much smaller than the cage.

It's okay right to let him free around the house? I live in an apartment so the area isn't quite big. A 3 tier cage won't fit the house too though. Huhu. I do have some toys but he seemed less interested. He's more interested to play with my foot and my hand i.e chasing my foot and bite my hand.

By the way here are some of his pics. Hope you guys can tell how old is he! And I'm gonna get a new litter tray soon, I think it's too small for him, well actually it was the smallest one, bought it before I met him though. Perhaps will make a DIY ones like the one mentioned somewhere in this thread. smile.gif And should add a pillow as well eyh?

Not sure he's a Siamese or what, but he has long fur, so he might be Balinese right? Or maybe Himalayan? rclxub.gif . Yea again, it's not a kucing kampung. blink.gif

First of all, i'm sorry ..

LoL.. I hate to repeat over and over again one some matters -

CODE
[B]Not sure he's a Siamese or what, but he has long fur, so he might be Balinese right? Or maybe Himalayan?  :stars:  . Yea again, it's not a kucing kampung. [/B]

Dude, your cat is Domestic Long Hair.. malaysia cat, kucing kampung wannabe with long hair. no originality. kucing kampung is original. while DLH is a mixture of other cat who is basically come from kucing kampung too.

You don't have to waste time thinking about what breed (siamese, ragdoll, birman, balinese, etc) if your kitten do not have certificate approval.

By default, it will become DLH. Domestic cat. and yes it is a kucing malaysia, not kucing kampung since he is long hair.

So all cat lovers, please understand the term of pedigree cat, and Domestic cat. you cannot pin point your cat is Himalayan if you do not have proof.

All other cat will laugh out loud to your cat because "perasan" jadi pedigree cat. Like if you are malay, you perasan jadi mat salleh, padahal dah sah sah muka melayu.

--

from the pic your kitten look like 2-3 months all...

on average, 3 months old kitten length will be about 18cm from head to the base of the tail (not end of tail - so when u measure, skip the tail).

kitten age after 2 months old should know how to groom their home. mostly after 1 month old, they will start learning most of important things like jump, run, hunt.

but not height... so don't try to make them climb and jump from high place at this after. after 5 months old should be ok.

--

it is ok to let him free in the house, as long as you don't have fragile stuff. and also poison stuff. move away all the poison thinggy such as medicine, bathroom stuff, etc. kitten will usually love to taste new things.

some kitten and cat love to bite the wires.. if you are away from home.. switch off all tv plugs. he might play and bite the wires. just open 1 fan should be ok. and some are to go in and out so he can breath.

--

that cage is too small.. i will hate if someone lock me in my master bedroom too. so if you want your cat to roam in the house freely, teach him now. let him roam around the house, so when he grew up, he has no problem to get use with the surrounding.

if your kitten is freely in the house, then no need to buy pillow or bed, since he can just sleep over the sofa, you books, the cabinet, etc...

let him choose his favorite spot, not you giving option or want him to be at one place.

remember, cat is the king, you are the slave. you cannot control or ask king what to do.
--

you can stick NETTING on your window if you afraid he will climb. this is for safety. and im pretty sure you need air to go in and out from your house too right.

--

what food you feeding now anyway? litter used?

p/s sorry for the spelling error typo..

Heee.. sweat.gif okie2 sorry won't bring that up again. Was just wondering if he might inherit or have some of the characteristic. Coz u said before right something about being a diva. Plus, the house where I went to pick this little kitten have loads of those Siamese alike. But anyway they are all mixed already kot. hmm.gif

I measured my kitten, and he's around 23 cm. Heh, so that makes him 3 months ++.

Guess the house's environment is okay for now. Even closed the kitchen door coz afraid he might eat rubbish or could access the laundry and of course there would be a lot of poisons there! shocking.gif. Will just use the cage to transport him from one place to another lah.

I fed him with Science Plan and the litter is Frisian Cat's Choice clumping punya. Ok ke? Not sure what brand is good though. Saw one brand here. Is this brand good coz I thought of getting the Clean N Easy one but the pet shop I went didnt have that so instead I bought Frisian. Did saw it at The Pet Family before but at that time, still not sure how my future kitten would be. Saw OKO ones at Pets Wonderland too while surveying for cat litters but its a bit expensive eh. sweat.gif By the way is the silica ones any good?

Anyways, thanks again for the teguran dan cadangan! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif. I'm still learning.

semua Domestic Longhair are mix for many generation.

I have 1 long hair that look like birman. but she is far away not a birman. the old owner go mix a cream color kucing kampung that look like siamese, with a long hair male. come out a cat long hair that have the some color like her mom but long hair. do you see?

color does not tell a breed. color are very general. to know the breed, you need to the the body structure. different breed different look. and yes, only certificate can tell they are pedigree.

like my cat, macam mana nak cakap dia pedigree, memang sah dia kucing buatan malaysia. so she is happy to be call DLH, and she told me NOT TO FAKE HER STATUS. SHE DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON tongue.gif

--

23cm should be 3++... you can start vaccine and after 4 months u can neuter him, before he start to spray his MALE INSTINCT eheheh

--

science plan kitten should be ok.

any litter as long as you and your kitten love it smile.gif

--

OKO is good. one kitten only, i think that should be OK for you right.

silica type the one like crystal is not bad too. but depends on which brand. still it is expensive i think. silica will suck up urine, white silica will turn yellow after sucking up the urine.

--

i advice you to buy something reasonable price, but work the best for you, your home and your kitten. don't spend too much.

if u have extra money, i rather spend on vets medical and food smile.gif rather than on litter.

my Jorj was being extra mischievous yesterday and got cooking oil over his rear end (hind legs and very long tail). washed it away with cat shampoo, but even now it still seems a bit oily. He's done his routine cat-cleaning too, and even tho the fur is already dry, it still seems a bit oily.
Any tips anyone?

p/s the oil was not hot so he wasn't hurt. only just ultimately dirty.

i think you need frequent bath and shampoo. it is a hard job. but if you have money, just send him to the grooming centre. let the groomer with proper tools do it.

Dear all,

Kindly need you guys help and suggestions. Since 2 days ago my female DLH cat (Jeny) refused to eat but only drink. She is now 3 months old. Yesterday I went to vet but the vet said Jeny is fine and not infected with any decease. Today she looks worse, very thin. I blend food (RC kitten + water) feed her using sringe, hope she will be fine.

Any help and suggestion? Thanks a lot guys...

change vet.

from your story, it look like so serious. because today you said look very thin than the day before. so the decrease of weight seem to be very fast. you sure need another vet, tell the new vet the old vet say everything find. some vet only check body temperature, and all basic stuff.. that's why they look healthy. but no body knows whats happening inside the body, maybe organ failure, abnormal blood count, poison effect from bugs and etc.

I was just wondering about the spraying thingy. Heh, he will really spray eh if I don't neuter him? That's the best solution eyh. Am still considering about the neuter. I know I know, I should neuter, it's better right, but am still thinking. sweat.gif (mesti org kat sini semua marah : takpayah pikir buat je). Huhu but a friend of mine is thinking about mating her kitten and mine in the future. Hurmm.

I guess I should not buy the most expensive stuffs yet for now, coz I'm still a student, so better keep the money for the most needed stuffs like vaccination and other emergencies, yet still giving him the best within my current budget. But this litter sometimes sticked between his nails lah. elfreakz, I read that u're using Fussie Cat right? Hurm, gonna check that out when this 10L one finishes. happy.gif Or maybe try OKO. Heh. unsure.gif Wait till I earn my own money. brows.gif

Anyways, one more question, is it normal for kittens to have sakit mata? Should I bring him to the vet or just wipe the discharge with damp tissue? Last night I've cleaned them up, actually only one sided had the discharge, but then later of the night, the other eye went pinkish, I was already afraid but I am bit tight up with my test and classes today, huhu, and then this morning he can't even open both of his eyes. But I quickly wipe them lah, and this evening he still have the discharge. He actually had it since the first day I got him. Shud I buy the eye drops or bring him to the vet? Am thinking of going to Jabatan Perkhidmatan Haiwan at Shah Alam tomorrow morning lah. Is the service good?

yes male cat who is horny will like to spray the house with his special power. gosh i hate that smell.. especially when he spray it at the secret place you never know where. you can even the the trace anyway.

well nobody gonna marah you on that matter, owner is the person who responsibility to another living creatures. just like us having our own children, it is our responsible as a father, mother and parents.

why we want to mate our cat since we can adopt and rescue unwanted kitten which their number increasing day by day. person who want to mate and produce their own kitten normally have this blink blink of $$ in their mine. in of the day, it's all bout the money. mate your cat, sell it, for your own profit.

if anybody really want a kitten, go adopt them rather than buying. kucing kampung is not a cat you should down the standard.

there are like 3 category of cat lovers.
1. the cat lovers who love anything about cats as a living creatures. inside and out. who will do their best to make his cat happy and healthy.
2. the person who like cat. just adore them, but don't really care much. just enough to have this cute little thing in the house for entertainment when he is bored.
3. the person who love only the cute one, but reject the not so good looking cat.

so you actually know which one is you.

mating you own cat is a sensitive issue. if you want it, do it without telling people, that is your responsibility. in any forum, everybody will bamboo you if you start talking about mating your pets. try it at other forum locally and internationally, you will see the word NEUTER.

if anybody have the kind heart and patient to LOVE CATS, they will adopt and rescue unwanted kitten and stop producing their own kittens with the current cat.

stop thinking about the future, cat future start from today. just like us, if you keep thinking the future, but never start it today, you will never make it. doing the best for your kitten now, will make him a good cat in future.

--

eye discharge is not normal..

it is diseases, and need a treatment, before your kitten eyes become ulcer.

you ever have mouth ulcer? you imagine that ulcer is in the eyes. how painful it can be.

never ever try your own medicine. bring to the vet for confirmation because you don't know which type of eyes problem your kitten having. there are several eyes problem.

Jabatan Perkhidmatan Haiwan at Shah Alam is good if you want a cheap treatment.

normally 5 months old kitten look like big size kitten. yes you can neuter them now. basically after 4 months old you can neuter them. why? because the standard, we start vaccine our kitten at the age 2 months old, then follow by 3 months old (2 times for first timer). then at the 4th month you can neuter, since already complete vaccination 2 times. most kitten male or female, can start getting on heat at the age of 6 months. some earlier than that. since you do not know what cats are thinking, to be on the safe side, neuter them early.

so let say u have 1 male and 1 female.. you don't have enough money to do both at the same time. the best one is to neuter the male. without them, there will be no kittens. so the following month if you have enough money, you can spay the female.

haven't seen the dwarf version cat breed yet in malaysia.

all cats organization hardly approve this kind of mutation. they are similar to the most common one = munchkin breed.

i think you need to visit - the dwarf cat association and ask = http://www.the-dwarf-cat-association.com/

p/s you can get munchkin breed in KL both long hair and short hair. the breeder selling it rm1000 above. around rm1800 for breeding.

you can visit the cattery here = http://www.pusakarimbakl.com/historymunchkin.html
