Hi elf, how are you?Hope you are doing well smile.gif
It's me again. tongue.gif Recently my cat got flea around his head. (not much, manage catch & kill some flea at his head). The things is moving faster, quite hard to catch it. But i just wonder would this flea breed eggs at my cat's body? I have use cat's shampoo to bath my cat one week once. (forgot the name, anywhere previously get from vet, vet said this shampoo can act like normal shampoo and prevent flea, but hard to killing fleas).
Actually there have how many type of flea? I'm not sure my cat's flea is which type, so need you advise how to kill this flea?Anywhere my cat is indoor cat, he is the only one inside the house. Just curios how can he get this thing... rclxub.gif
Are the house dusty or not clean can make the flea alive inside my house? coz my cat very lovely to go and search the dusty area.

errkk you vet did not recommended FRONTLINE (spray/spot on)? hmm.gif weird, from what i know almost all vet will recon this product when it comes to fleas and other parasites.

fleas is like the movie by leonardo di caprio - catch me if you can. fleas are hard to catch, and even escape from the cat body your you and your house. but it the end, they will die too.

there is only 1 cat flea.

i think what you trying to ask is "how many type of parasites on cat?".

Fleas, mites, lice, ticks, ringworm, etc.

normally 5 months old kitten look like big size kitten. yes you can neuter them now. basically after 4 months old you can neuter them. why? because the standard, we start vaccine our kitten at the age 2 months old, then follow by 3 months old (2 times for first timer). then at the 4th month you can neuter, since already complete vaccination 2 times. most kitten male or female, can start getting on heat at the age of 6 months. some earlier than that. since you do not know what cats are thinking, to be on the safe side, neuter them early.

so let say u have 1 male and 1 female.. you don't have enough money to do both at the same time. the best one is to neuter the male. without them, there will be no kittens. so the following month if you have enough money, you can spay the female.
*
what if we found a kitten/cat. Without vaccined or dewormed, cam we neuter them as well??

yeah, i also found that Frontline is vrey effective. I used to bring my cat balik my bf's kampung. His mother's cats got fleas.. Infected my very fast. But after i sprayed with Frontline, all gone in a week.

Err.. i never bathed any of my cats since they're indoor (apartment). Is it ok???

basically it is better to vaccine first before doing anything. but if you have no choice like you need it a.s.a.p, you can do it immediately. but the risk is in your hand lah. don't blame the vet if anything happen. vaccine will protect the cat from infected by any bacteria or virus. since they are going to surgery (neuter/spay), so potential of getting infection is there.

so you need to be in CLEAN home handling cat after neuter and spay.

-

we actually do not need to bath out cat, unless if they are too dirty, parasites attack, or after medication (such as the frontline spray, skin cream medical, etc). bath is just a extra thing to do for house pet. since cats are clean animal, grooming them self everyday.

if you want pedigree maine coon with certificate, ask fancycoon cattery here = http://www.fancycoon.com/

he/she may have some kitten or maybe can intro you to other maine coon pedigree breeder. get ready your RM about RM1500-RM3000 per cat.

if you don't want pedigree then you find big size DLH. icon_rolleyes.gif

you ask the JB cattery for breed in KL. there are some in KL.. most of them without website. so you need to directly visit the cattery.

the standard one is, age:

2 month old = 1st vaccine
3 month old = 2nd vaccine
4 month old = neuter

so basically 1 month after the 2nd vaccine.

ask your vet for advice, some will do it without waiting 1 month after the 2nd vaccine.

i think i didnt mention before about this.. that, canned food like whiskas and friskies won't give much nutrition for your cats. both are made from fish, as what we know fish do not provide much protein and fat.

feeding canned food everyday, will build up tar tar and bad breath. tar tar can lead to gums and mouth disease. so be extra careful with this. scaling teeth for cats is expensive, my vet charge Rm120 per cat to clean teeth.

if you still want to feed canned food everyday, go for Science Plan brand, some of it are made from turkey, chicken, etc. it is good but the price is expensive than the cheap friskies RM1 - RM1.50.

if you do not like dry food, DIY your own cat food, just google home made cat food. use chicken or meat.

yet im not sure why you do not want to feed dry food like Science Plan, Iams, Royal Canin. is it because of money? or maybe you have too many cats?

you can balance dry food as daily food and add home made chicken or beef 3 times a week. should be good.

again, buy the dry food in big pack so you save more.

no no....i do feed dry food. canned food is normally for her dinner. hehe....i used to buy snappy tom ultimates but later change to burp from Pet Lovers Center.
but what i found is, she doesnt want to eat dry food if i feed her canned food. she knows that she will have something good at night, so she eat less during day time. so now, i dont feed her canned food everyday but changed to alternate days. biggrin.gif but her fur still dropped a lot. so yesterday was the 1st time i cook for her biggrin.gif
