ELF!!! My 13months old Momoy is pyometra positive.. She was given her 1st contraceptive jab in early May. In the mid of July, she showed some sickness symptoms such as dhearroea (am i spelling this correctly?), vomit and lost appetite. I sent her to our vet. This vet said she probably ate something poisonous. She was given some antibotic and anti-dhearroea.

Her condition wasnt better after a week. So i sent her to the same vet again. The vet gave suspected she was having enterhitis, since there was some brownish discharge from her private part. Thevet told me the dscharge was coming form her anal. She was given jabs for her liver and antibiotics. I asked the vet if her condition was related to that contraceptive jab he gave her, but he denied..

Last week, i went to a new vet (a very young vet) and asked her opinion. After some diagnostic and palpate, the vet told me that my Momoy is pyometra positive She's going for her pyometra spay on 9 Nov. Please pray for her....

Thanx ELF and ASH. Momoy was scheduled to be spay on this Sunday, 9 NOV .. But the vet said the chances is 50-50, depends on her pyometra seriousness.. Wll keep u guys update. Maybe i can ask the vet's assistant to snap snap photo of the surgery to publish here. Please pray for MOmoy.

ELF!! Help!

Momoy was spayed on Sunday, 9 Nov. Actually she was supposed to stay in the clinic. But since she is very fierce, the vet allowed me to take her home yesterday. No use if she stay in the clinic. The staffs dont dare to touch her, so they cant inspect her sticthes and clean her.

Another problem, she's not eating since i sent her to spay.. I bait her with all her fave food - boiled chicken, fish, kibble foods.. but failed.

Anything i should/shouldn't do to fasten her recovery process? Can i put hot pressure (tuam) on her stitches?

aik.. sound like she is so STRESS now...

did u try to offer cane food? the Science Plan/whiskies, friskies, snappy tom punya brand? during my cat kembiri they eat this for few days, with alil bit of kibbles.

I brought her back on 11th nov because there's nothing the vet can do to her there. She's very fierce and she wont allow any hands to touch her, except me. The vet told me she ate a little during the 1st day, but i dont think she ate. That's why i brought her home to her normal environment. Started from yesterday evening, i tried to feed her with Hill's Preescription Diet a/d. I mix with water and pump it into her mouth. She managed to swallow a few tubes. But this morning, when i wanted to feed her, she suddenly vomit. Banyak pulak tu. Is it because perut dia masuk angin?

female memang agak culture shock with kembiri, because it was a cut and surgery. not like male.
if u have other cat at home, please separate them. if possible don't let them see each other.

Yes, i have another 2 kittens. But they dont disturbed her at all.. They're using the living area. So, I place Momoy's cage in my bedroom.

if u cage the spayed female, cover it with towel. let her reduce the stress.

Her temperature is a bit higher than normal. And sometimes, she looks like hot. So i cant cover her cage. I switch on a slow fan for her inside my bedroom.

9th november, and not eating something till now, is like starving? did she drink? did u see any urine or stool in the litter?

She didnt drink at all. But yes, she urinate 2-3 times daily. The urine is a bit darker that normal. But no stool at all.. I feed her with glucose water, but she cant swallow it. Everytime i pump water into her mouth, she will act like tercekik. Looked like having problem to swallow the plain water.
She's not using her litterbox i place in her cage. Instead, she peed inside her sleeping tray. Is it because i put a mesh on her litterbox to avoid the sand to attach to her skin? So this morning, i placed a bathmat and her small cushion inside her cage and removed the sleeping tray.

is she acting ok? or getting tired and tired?

I think she's getting tired and tired. I'm so worried I asked the vet, but the vet said it's normal for spayed female to behave like that until she recover.. She asked me to keep feeding with Hill's a/d. But i think, vomit is a bad sign.... So, do u think it's good to find a new vet before it's too late? I called some vet, but they refused to take Momoy's case since they didnt do the surgery. They asked me to get back to the same vet. I called the same vet this morning. She asked me to bring Momoy to her clinic untuk masuk drip dalam badan dia... maybe this way can stop her from vomit.

is the stitches ok? good bleeding or dry?

The stitches looks ok. No bleeding and it's dry. Except there's some dried iodin. I tried to wipe it with a solution, but everytime the wool touch her skin, she'll cries in pain...

hmm dont "tuam" yet, she is still stress. for now, make sure she don't like and open the stitches and make sure it dry always.

But, she always wet her bottom (because she peed in her sleeping tray) So every evening when i reach home, i'll wipe her with a damp cloth and check her stitches.

Today i'll rush her to the vet again for dripping. Please pray for Momoy, guys..

Elf, i read in somewhere else - "Death occurs from pyometra when the uterus ruptures and the toxic material spills into the abdomen, causing peritonitis. Death can also occur by the infection spreading to the bloodstream, a condition know as sepsis; or from severe dehydration leading to hypovolemic shock," Do u think this is what happen to Momoy? Because the vet told me there was some pus spilled out when she cut the sack.

ELF, i'm panic and i dont know what to do ... But i dont want to lose her

I sent Momoy to the same vet (Dr T) who performed the spay at 4pm yesterday. The vet inspected her then told me that she got jaundice. The vet said, during the surgery there was pus inside her horns. The pus spilled a bit and maybe the pus has entered her bloodstream and got into the liver. That's how she got the jaundice. The vet gave a jab, said it is for the liver. She was given 250ml IV fluid, a medicine to stop her from vomit and they force-feed her. They fed her with a bowl of Hills Perscription Diet i/d. We left the vet at 5.30pm.

But at 8.30pm, when i wanted to feed her medicine, she vomit again. So i gave her the anti-vomit medicine, waited for 30 minutes, then fed her antibiotic and painkiller.

1.30 midnite, i feed her with 10ml Hills Persciption Diet a/d and some glukose water. But at the same time, i found out than below her right front leg looked flabby. The other side looked ok, no flabby. I touched that part and pressed a bit, but Momoy didnt show any pain.

This morning i found Momoy laying in her litterbox, but i found urine inside her sleeping tray. At 8.00am, i fed her the same diet (a/d) and gave her medicine for the liver (pills and clear liquid). So far she was not vomit, but looked nausea. The flabby part was still there, but not as flabby as last nite. Do u think it is because of the IV fluid? Then why it goes to below of her right front leg? I tried to call the vet, but today is their off-day. I called their emergency number, still cant get them Damn...!

I think all of these happen because of my mistake. I never vaccined her before. I wanted to vaccine her when she was 7months old (may 2008), but my previous vet (Dr P) asked me to wait. He gave the contraceptive jab in May 2008, dewormed Momoy in June. I thought i can vaccine her in July, And Momoy showed sickness (vomit, diarrhoea) in July. And since then she was give prescription for entheritis and GI by Dr P, until October. I referred Momoy to Dr T (the new vet) at the end of Oct and that's how we know she got pyometra! And that's why i never had a chance to vaccine her

And now she got jaundice and i hope it doesnt slim her chance to survive

Dr T know Momoy is not vaccined yet before she preformed the spay. But she said she has to do the pyometra removal quickly before it spread and get worse.

I dont know what to do. I've done the best and i just let God decide her fate. But i hope if she has no chance to survive, she wont suffer long Please pray for Momoy. Thanx.

I went to the vet on Friday evening. The vet told me, it is normal for Momoy to looked flabby after received the IV fluid.

Momoy is getting better. She responds to her environment and a few times trying to walk out her cage everytime i open the cage door to feed her. Since last Saturday, she poops and pees normally. She's using her litterbox as normal. No stray pees in her cage anymore. But she still refuses to eat by her own. So i need to pump food (Hill's a/d) and water into her mouth 3 times a day. Her wound also looks ok, dried and no swollen. But she still having a jaundice.

Elf, want to ask ur opinion la...

Today is the 10th day Momoy has been neutered. She looks ok, but the problem is she isn't eating at all. I have to force feed her using syringe. Do u have this experience? Is there anything i can do to help her gain her appetite again? I cant feed her with Hill's a/d forever. That cane food's cost can kill me

I took her to the vet yesterday. The vet cleaned her wound and checked her stitcthes. The vet suprised that the wound tak bengkak or benjol. She said, normally for obese cat like Momoy, the wound will swollen a bit. But in Momoy's case, the wound is not swollen, no discharge from the stitches, but there are bruises on her stomach. Lebam2 merah biru on the skin, appear only at the shaved area. I'll show u the photo later. The vet said this is abnormal, but she cant tell what actually happens to Momoy and asked me to wait and see her progress.

About the jaundice, the yellowish at her eye balls has reduced. But still yellowish at the ears and gum. And her ears are cold no matter how i try to keep her warm.

And when i pinch her skin at her shoulder, the skin lambat anjal. Is she dehydrated?

Any members had experienced this before? Please share with me, please...

Have u heard about peronitis? I read somewhere that pyometra can lead to sepsis and peronitis. Is peronitis = FIP? Do u think Momoy is showing peronitis symptoms?

elf, momoy died yesterday.. I told the vet and asked if she might got peritonitis.. the vet said there's a possibility. But nothing change the fact she's gone now..

I think the little memon misses her big sister too.. she looks no-mood tp play lately.. And many times she dogged me everywhere i go and meowed a lot. Into the kitchen, the rabbit's room, the living area.. Kinda annoying, actually . Normally she does this to ask for food. But even with a full bowl, she keeps making noise. When she saw me watching tv on the couch, she climbed on my chest and meowing in front of my face. Sigh.. I hope she'll be ok soon.
