QUOTE haha looking forward to it myself as i'm now choosing between alienware and msi heh No love for Sager ? The NP8662 isn't exactly a slacker when it comes to performance, fit in a QX9300 and a GTX 260m, you'd be having the fastest all-rounder 15" laptop.Come now, embrace and love Sager. You know you want it. |

QUOTE(22 @ Jun 6 2009, 06:13 AM) Yea, The only thing lacking in my system now is processing power. With all the refresh done by Intel, I was hoping the prices of processors would drop considerably... but I guess that won't be the case. do you upgrade the processor yourself??? technically, is it hard? im rather interested in this matter... lolz... so which processor do you intend on getting?QUOTE(22 @ Jun 9 2009, 07:48 PM) Finally got the GTX 280m in my laptop, here're some screenshots. wow, cool you got the GTX 280M! this one is the MXM2.1 version right?? how much did you pay for this baby? lolz.. did you encounter any problem with the driver? and your temp is quite the surprise for me Clocks @ 550/1350/920 EDITED [10 June 2009] I've underclocked the core and shader as I'm using setFSB to overclock my CPU, thereby overclocking the core and shader. The underclock was done so that the clocks gained via the increased FSB balance out. I've looped each test except for the CPU ones 50 times, total hours taken to accomplish all the tests were 5 hours +. The maximum temp I got from the GPU-Z log was 81c, not too shabby for a high end card huh? The 3d mark 06 score is 10500, give or take 50 points. It may seem like there's not much gain from the 9800m GTS O/C (10200), however, in-game performance wise, this thing blew the 9800m GTS away. I'm done with ATItool's artifact scanning, ran it for 3 hours and no error encountered, with a stable temp of 77-78C. I guess this proves that the GTX 280m is stable in the NP8660, eh? 3dmark06 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ATItool » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « DMC 4 DX10 Super High @ 1680*1050 without AA » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Crysis Framebuffer benchmark dx10 Enthusiast 1680*1050 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 3dmark Vantage » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The Last Remnant @ 1680*1050 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Furmark @ 1680*1050 for 30 minutes(Disregard the previous note, max temp 82c) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « the m15x of alienware are also capable of equipping the GTX 280M but the user seems to encounter some trouble with the driver and cant connect to external monitor. i read it up on notebookreview forum lolz.. also i just reply your pm lolz... |

QUOTE do you upgrade the processor yourself??? technically, is it hard? im rather interested in this matter... lolz... so which processor do you intend on getting? I'm thinking T9900 or the P9700. Yeah, upgrading the proc for the NP8662 is easy,at least, easier than modding the GTX 280m in order to fit the heatcage, in fact, it's the same for every laptop as long as yo get to the socket. Just make sure quality thermal compound is used and it's spread correctly.QUOTE wow, cool you got the GTX 280M! this one is the MXM2.1 version right?? how much did you pay for this baby? lolz.. did you encounter any problem with the driver? and your temp is quite the surprise for me , it is rather stable for the 15.4" cool dude, how is the GPU after having for sometime now??... lolz.. congratz in having the GTX280M!! Yup, it's the mxm 2.1 version since the NP8662/NP8660 is not equipped with the mxm type 3. After sometime now, the temp is even more stable since the new thermal compound takes time to burn in, I don't get temps higher than 85c now, and that's with my newest OC @ 560/940/1360, which translates to 620/940/1500 after applying setFSB.the m15x of alienware are also capable of equipping the GTX 280M but the user seems to encounter some trouble with the driver and cant connect to external monitor. i read it up on notebookreview forum lolz.. I got it for about $490 from RJtech, at first, I decided to get the GTX 260m, but it was no where in sight and I figured, what the hell, and promptly placed an order. The m15x can be equipped with a GTX 280m, although it is advisable to place a GTX 260m, instead, in it. The highest temp I've seen from the benchmarks and stress test , even before O/C is 92c. There are even reports that the card's temp exceeds 100c after a few minutes when installed by another user, and there's no way you could exit 'stealth' mode without overheating. He's working a way around it, no news though. This post has been edited by 22: Jun 19 2009, 12:07 PM |

If the GT725 could be gotten locally and the price isn't too far off, a recommendation should be fine, it's not forcing him to buy one, just letting him know that there are other options out there.
