yea exactly...like i said if u a real gamers u wont choose that....which do u choose...i mean logically..that laptop or an alianware or xps(not buying it..i mean CHOOSE)... it about passion and soul .....now that notebook dont hav any of those in gaming purpose......and alot of u guys said that the pad size is not important....if wanna play games, u use mouse....that true, pll use mouse these days..,.and i apologize bout that......but i still prefer if those guys made a bigger pad than those tiny square box.

and that y is not that great is gaming notebook ATM....hey maybe the version 2 coming up and it change 2 gaming purpose...idk..if that happen im so happy cuz it prove me wrong....4 now i rather choose xps than that....
I guess you're the kind of person who thinks that the processor and the size of RAM are the decisive component in a system's gaming performance. Haven't heard of a GPU have you? Most probably not judging by your utterly pathetic remarks. Go back to school and educate yourself more.

A gamer could easily get an external mouse as well as an external dispay if he wants to, and with a spec like that, it's far better than most desktops.

so u saying that u rather choose this NP8660 than Alienware?? that wat u saying??
and pls read my first comment and pls do understand them....
Yes I will, because I'm the price-for-performance kinda guy.

1) I need a smooth gaming experience, the 9800m GT gives me that
2) I need not all the blinks to own in a game
3) I don't have that much cash to afford an Alienware
4) I don't need multimedia keys to play a game
5) I like it when people underestimate something because of its look
6) Passion and soul is all about PLAYING THE GAME, not looking or worrying about the look of your laptop.

I don't care which University you're from, because obviously, your remarks speak much louder than everything else taken into account. Don't bother replying, I've pretty much given up talking some sense into you.

I'm from MMU too, and that guy with his stupid remarks is wasting everybody's time and doesn't know what he is talking about. I'm ashamed to have such a person to be a universityMate.

As to the endless comparisons of Alienwares vs Sagers and PC vs Macs on which is better, well, like i put it, it'll never end. Each has it's own merits and I'm sure majority of the people choosing between alienwares and Sagers has give due consideration to all the factors including their pockets before making the purchase. For a lack of a better sentence, people bought alienwares because they can even though they know Sagers are cheaper for the corresponding specs. It's entirely their business.
Aye Aye.

How about we drop the whole Alienware VS Sager thing... with no cynical remarks? I don't think Corad's mild statement about an Alienware laptop warrants an all-out debate. Corad probably didn't mean any disrespect to any of the Alienware users out there.

Besides, Alienware or Sager, most of both company's laptops' ODM are pretty much Clevo. No need for a fight, no?

Alienware is Uniwill while Sagers are Clevos smile.gif Comparisons can still be made in this thread, but only up to the point of facts and with the least possible of subjective opinions.. goes for me too laugh.gif
Whatever floats your boat. I'm not that certain of Sager's ODM, however, for Alienware, I think they have a lot of mixtures of ODMs? Clevo being one of them, Arima being another, uniwill too.

Sorry it took so long for the benchies, but the 2nd post is now updated. I've a problem with 3d Mark 06 tho, since my uni blocks most ports so I can't submit the results online. Tunneling dosent work
Maybe a SSH server back at home hosted with putty? That would bypass most restrictions set by the University. Anyway, once you're done with those restrictions, how about a couple of screenies with Crysis Warhead and games like that for real performance benchmark? I'm gonna go green with envy soon.

I too, would like to proudly announce that I am now a proud owner of the Sager NP8660, can't thank corad enough for helping me out during the transaction phase. Almost everything that needs to be said about this beast is pretty much covered by the owners of this laptop, so I'll just skip the much elaborated details and go ahead with parts that are not covered.

The technical specifications of my laptop is almost the same as corad's with the exception of the processor (p8400) as well as the GPU (9800m GTS)

KEYBOARD

Attached Image
I simply love how the keyboard feels, a big improvement from the keyboard on the 5920g, the previous laptop that I was using. Granted, the tactile feedback is a bit weak, but still, it feels solid and best of all, it's black in colour! (Please understand that I'm an ex-5920g user, so I might get excited over minute stuff which is quite common among laptops)

However, while playing Devil May Cry 4, I found that the laptop's keyboard is unable to register simultaneous button presses (ghosting...), which is rather disappointing.

POWER ADAPTER

First of all, I would like to point out the fact that I had to use an adapter for the power plug for it to fit in a normal power socket (normal for us Malaysians anyway) No comprende? well, have a look at the pictures below.
Attached Image Attached Image

Thank god I had the adapter at hand because of an old IBM Thinkpad laptop.

Second of all, the power adapter itself is a huge brick, it's thick and long!

PERFORMANCE

I O/Ced my proc from 2.2 > 2.4ghz and then O/Ced my GPU... I'm more than impressed by this laptop's performance, in fact, under load, this baby never goes over 67C under normal temps even after O/Cing. The thing is, I'd really like to try my luck at 2.9, however, I cant do it via softmod, I need an unlocked BIOS like corad has to alter the FSB, unfortunately, mine came locked as I had not requested for it.

The only game currently which managed to cripple this beast is the GTA 4, prolly cause of my weak processor... and the fact that it was badly programmed I guess...

CONCLUSION
I love this laptop. Period. The overall look it has is definitely solid and simple.

I was totally like you during the shipping phase (ask corad, he knew how desperate I was)

After receiving the email on the phase update, I waited 5 days before a van (Pos Laju) came up before my house. I was smiling like an idiot, thinking that my laptop was finally delivered to my doorstep.

I quickly signed and waited for the deliveryman to unveil the box containing my laptop. He handed me an envelope instead.

Unfortunately, my item was retained by the customs, and therefore had several options to reclaim my item. I could either appoint Pos Malaysia as my agent, or, I could go over to KLIA - LCCT to claim it back myself.

After an hour of debating with myself on my next step, I figured I procrastinated enough, screw the waits, I up and went to collect my laptop myself.

The journey was long, and it was well worth all the trouble I had to got through to get this this stage. So relax, it's gonna come to you sooner or later (like I'm the one to say this...)

Yea, all that matters is it's safe with me. The customs officer said that items which price range over RM2000 will be retained by them, Don;t know how true this is though... maybe it's just my bad luck.

noticed that your laptop dosent have the Centrino2 sticker. wonder why they did that ... shakehead.gif

btw: to my fellow forumers, i'll wont be as active for these 2 weeks. just had my 1st paper today, and i underestimated how tough it would be sweat.gif sweat.gif still have till month end before exams are all over ...
They just gave me the SRS WOW sticker...which I don't really have much love for, It's alright though, but It would be nice if they had given me the 9800m GTS sticker...I love collecting GPU stickers... and processors too if given the chance.

Anyway, good luck on your exams, here's hoping you ace it.

bro how much u bought? might to explain whole step to buy process? thanks in advance..... i quite interested to get...

Got it for RM5.9k, after conversion of course, but my specifications, as previously mentioned, isn't exactly on par with corad's machine, had to shave off on the processor as I had a tight budget going on.

The whole process? Well, first off, you'd have to register an account over at xoticpc. Fill in the all the details accurately. Next, go ahead and add whichever laptop you would like to purchase to your cart, confirm the purchase, and xoticpc would soon send you a confirmation email on this. Remember to purchase via the link corad has provided though.

The first phase would be the order confirmation phase, try to provide as much detail to the people over at xoticpc, they're a bunch of helpful people. Obviously, the subsequent step would be to make the payment via TT. Xoticpc will provide you with all the information you need to go through the bank wiring process, just bring along all the details (ABA routing code, bank name, bank address and whatsoever, be sure to add in the order number to the extra details column).

Xoticpc will soon send you an acknowledgment email regarding the TT. After all that, it's time to lay back and wait for the delivery of your laptop, the people over at Xoticpc will send you a mail when they have shipped your order.

bro wat it's mean by "remember to purchase via the link corad has provided"... u mean xoticpc website link or another link? sorry noob here.. how many weeks to took to ur doorstep? if i din go to LCCT collect, will they direct to my house door?
*
corad is an affiliate of xoticpc as previously mentioned, and the link corad provided will ultimately lead you to xoticpc, so it's the same, except corad would then be able to receive a small slice of commission as it was bought through his link.

Well, from the order shipped phase, it took 4 days for the laptop to arrive in Malaysia (excluding holidays), got it on the 5th day as Pos Laju came only then to deliver the customs letter to me. I went straight to LCCT to collect it as appointing Pos Malaysia will only delay my laptop's arrival and make me worrier, I was anxious, you see.

If you don't want to collect it yourself, you have 2 options left. Get a courier service approved by Malaysia's customs to deliver it from LCCT to your doorstep or, appoint Pos Malaysia to either get it to the nearest post office or straight to your doorstep (which costs quite a lot).

ok got it..then after the parcel arrive at LCCT, shall i pay any extra amount to collect the parcel if i direct go to LCCT take.
thanks alot bro for helping me....btw wat bout TT? is it just fill in the form? n bring to counter?
If you were to retrieve it yourself, the only thing you'll be paying for is your car's fuel, there is no tax imposed on laptops. Well, for the bank wiring form, I think it's almost the same for all banks. You'd have to have the ABA routing code, bank address, the bank name and etc. Just bring along all the details with you and approach one of the bank's staff and inquire about TT. There should be a form for you to fill up. And of course, don't forget to bring along the cash.

Don't worry about the whole TT, as long as you print out the email that xoticpc sends you regarding the payment method and approach a senior staff of the bank, there's no way you'll go wrong.

Hey any1 any idea where to get the cash rebate code?

If I'm not mistaken, the cash rebate code is written on that page itself, go through the whole page, it is written there in plain sight, if I'm not mistaken, of course.

You mean the cash rebate? Well, as long as the buyer buys via a certain method (TT is inclusive) then you get the rebate.

Sad to hear about the 10%, corad. BTW, you O/C your CPU via altering the CPU FSB in BIOS, yes?

May I know what is the equivalent desktop card to the 9800M GT?
I'd say the 9600 GT or the old 8800 GS.

QUOTE
As far as i know the best card for laptop is 8800GTX right? i think its near to desktop 9800
The 9800m GTX actually, the 8800m GTX is equivalent to the 9800m GT. Not that the performance gap between the 9800m GT, GTS and GTX is wide, though.

Great news by Justin from XoticPC. The GTX 260m will be up for grabs for NP8660 users individually by the start of April. No MOBO replacement needed or whatsoever, just stick it in. Though you do need to flash the laptop's mobo BIOS with the newest one, which link is right below, many thanks to Gophn and theriko ( theriko posted it earlier)

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.p...74&postcount=18

Word of caution, please make sure you flash the EC firmware to its newest version. Flashing your mobo's BIOS may lead to bricking your system if done haphazardly. Get a bootable flash drive to do it. I'm not liable if you brick your system.

Damn... Love how it's the MXM form factor, that's what I call modularity, guess XoticPC will be getting my money soon.

P/S the NP5797 has the option of upgrading to GTX 280m, I think.

USD 200 would be the flat rate, if you place an order from Xoticpc.com.

Yea, the np8660 page now redirects user to the np8662, thank god, that it's possible to upgrade the video card on the Np8660, or else, it would've been a real turn off.

Monitor oso can be upgraded? How?
I actually do, not the monitor, but just the GPU, and maybe CPU in the future. It's pretty modular so it'll be easy. Can't say the same for the monitor though, Have a feeling you'll have to dismantle the whole laptop before you can release the ribbon cable of the LCD from the mobo.
