Aikzz the 10% affiliate discount thing is gone ???

Haihz I think I'll just settle on other laptops then, I'll get a Sager next when my laptop-which-I-havent-bought-yet-but-buying-this-month expires.

Who knows, maybe in the future we will have local Sager dealers and the warranty works anywhere and most importantly, the price will drop ! ( Good way of being optimistic ) biggrin.gif

I'm back! From my exciting and lovely (read: boring and torturing) vacation!

Anyway, if anyone wish to purchase elsewhere or check local availability read here.

bottom line: get a sager only if you're confident with computers.

you can't rival the specs or the price, but you'll be forfeiting warranty. Be prepared to fix it yourself if it's broken. only if ya  laugh.gif
but the warranty is not that useful for us outside the states. it would probably be more convenient and cheaper to swap any spoilt part by ourselves.

The problem is,like somehow the mobo fried.Where do i get the spare part?

Fixing a laptop is much harder than assembling a desktop.

Fried motherboard? You might as well send the whole notebook back instead of buying the separate motherboard. Even if you found one, I doubt manufacturer willing to just "sell" you their motherboard and installing it yourself will require soldering in notebook case.

Yes of course they are different, 9800 GT =/= 9800M GT performance/size(?) wise. Its less likely to see the 9800M GT especially in NP8660 case to experience overheat provided you did not do some extreme overclocking/blocking the ventilation hole... I don't know, what other way can you think of torturing your notebook?

FYI, the 9800M GT (G92) desktop equivalent will be a faster 8800 GTS (G80) or an slower 8800 GT (G92) performance wise.

Sad to hear about the 10%, corad. BTW, you O/C your CPU via altering the CPU FSB in BIOS, yes?

From what I can recall, corad did make a mention of requesting unlocked multipliers from Xotic PC before they shipped his laptop.

10% isn't that much of a difference. it's like another module of RAM i guess. but one thing is for sure, the longer you wait ... the better laptops become rclxub.gif biggrin.gif

it won't overheat if you take care of it smile.gif the cooling on this laptop is superb. i don't think you can get OEM 9800M locally.

No idea about the extra charges bro but the amount xoticpc acknowledge received was us23 less than the amount that i bank wired to them. Anyway i ordered a sager np9262(posted a few times in my previous posts bro doh.gif ).

As for unlocking the cpu multiplyer request, here's the reply from them:

Hello, thank you for your email. I am sorry we are not aware of having any of our laptops overclock the CPU. If your friend found a way to do so, this would be at your disgression.

We provide the machines one way and if your friend found a way to do it, then you should also.

Please let us know how we can be of further assistance.

Thanks,

XOTIC PC Service Department

I guess that end of the journey to unlock my cpu multiplyer. Previously who did u refer to, to unlock your cpu corad?

Btw corad, did u have any sales representative from xoticpc sales department to follow up your order? Seems like mine's a bit delayed in the process of acknowledment of my 2nd or complete payment. Don't ask why i made it into 2 separate payment as it is our bank policy that for any online foreign tt=max limit for a day transaction=rm10k.

I did my 1st payment on 14/01/09 malaysian time zone and they received it on the same day 14/01/09 in US or 15/01/09 here in Malaysia due to 14 hours of difference in time zone. 2nd payment i made on 15/01/09(Thursday malaysian time-morning) but until now 17/01/09 they haven't acknowledged receiving it yetblink: ,. Mailed and called them but same answer received=haven't received the payment yet doh.gif

No idea what happened but my guess are either purposely delayed as weekend coming soon or ???. Anyway i'm going to mail the scanned receipts to them and get a sales representative to follow up my order.

I guess that all for now. Damn! The least i expected to happen just happened. doh.gif

then did you guys have to TT it over again ? pay the bank twice for transfer charge ?

if that is the case, i would actually complain since they did state that their bank does not charge for TT.

Yes I end up paying twice since they cut the $30 of my payment. Luckily I manage to convince my bank to just TT $30 for me, JFYI I'm using HSBC.

Sorry for not mentioning earlier, I thought its just me making some silly mistakes.

@Enigmare

Its sort of like "service charge".

i'm using HSBC as well.

i havent kena this problem before. but it does sound unfair, considering you guys TT the requested amount over, then have to add in abit more after that. so 2x the bank charges doh.gif sweat.gif

nope, i din't go through any representative. just ordered, and requested through the "Additional Info" box to have my multipliers unlocked. (not OC the CPU). Most of the emails I received were template type where they thank you for the payment and give a status update on your laptop. A few days later I get the "Laptop Shipped" email smile.gif

Straight forward case for me.

wow, your lappie cost more than 10k brows.gif notworthy.gif
