Background processes causing interrupts? Try exiting every other program you can.
Added on June 10, 2010, 12:28 amThe reallocated sector count, while a bit troubling, is a normal part of the hard disk's 'self-healing' process. HDDs normally do not allocated every single sector to the user's space, but keep a small reserve of sectors that it can then use to replace sectors that has gone 'bad'. As long it doesn't change for days or weeks, it may mean that it 'healed' itself successfully.
I don't know if you can RMA on that alone.
Not sure about the other problem.

It's possible to RMA your 1TB Samsung, yuktsi14. If you want to avoid the hassle of RMA, here's what I suggest. To double confirm, back up your data and run Samsung's ESTool. Run drive diagnostic, low level format, install a fresh copy of your OS and monitor the number of reallocated sector count to reconfirm your HDD's health. If the count of reallocated sectors returns and increases within a short period of time, it simply means your HDD is replacing weak/bad sectors faster than it should. RMA it in this case. I've successfully RMA'ed my 500GB F3 Samsung that wouldn't stop giving me current pending sector count errors. You can skip diagnosing (low level format, reinstall OS etc) your HDD altogether and RMA your drive immediately if ESTool's diagnostic function returns any error.

QUOTE(Cyclonechuah @ Jun 9 2010, 10:42 PM) speedwise i think samsung spinpoint still wins over caviar black, Caviar black new version only has 64mb cache, and new choices of 3.0 gbps sata or 6.0 gbps. But samsung spinpoint have more problem than WD Black caviar , so many ppl RMA their hdd

Is the problem of Samsung Spinpoint F3 with SB850 only occurs if we update the firmware of the Samsung Spinpoint F3? By the way, the links show that it's not Samsung Spinpoint F3 having high RMA rates. It's like Samsung Spinpoint F3(with newest firmware) have incompatibility problem over AMD SB850 Chipset only. Intel Chipset shouldn't be affected. If you didn't play with the firmware(update it), you also won't have this problem.

Thanks for the information. Now, I have a clearer image already. And this issue shouldn't be bothered at all if you're using Intel Platform.

[color=red] Some people just tend to come to conclusion without evidence. thats does not even show that F3 series has high rma rate and it's not like what you mention (Lots of FORUMERS which suppose to mean lyn forumers )
