hey guys

my seagate 500gb 7200.11 is going to be dead soon,gonna head to lyp 2mr to grab a WD Caviar Black.

but running OS + storage all 2gether on a 1tb drive is it ok?or is it better to seperate?

i got a extra hdd which is maxtor diamondmax plus 80gb but its running on SATA1 and its 4 yrs old +,yep 4 yrs old and kicking,shows how reliable hdd those days.plan to use it as OS drive but scare it will suddenly kong ,more jia lat.and the speed of SATA1....

does ur drivers for gc,sc etc all goes into tht system drive as well?

er i mean where u install the drivers?those essential 1s for gc,monitor,sound card etc

erh?games,drivers and software all go into primary drive as well?i thought storage drive

a bit pening now.should i backup my windows files into the 80gb drive,then the others into the new 1tb drive or all 2gether into the new drive

er wat u mean by not a single 500gb platter?i split it into 2 partitions thou,1 for OS and programs and the other 1 for files like music,wallpapers and movies,and programs as well if my 1st partition ran out of space.

running a benchmark?its dying edy,no way im gonna boot into windows and make it worst,will gonna try save my data as soon as possible.

i think i will make a full backup image of the dying 500gb 1st then 2moro when i got my caviar black,will use it to restore the backup and set it as main drive.after my 500gb is back from rma,will reorganize evrything

got my 1tb caviar black 2day,335 from pczone lyp.

jz feel tht it run a bit hot,other than tht its fine.

as for my half dead 500gb seagate,managed to save all data from 1 of the partition but main partition can't help much,always crash on certain parts,guess there was where the bad sector is.gonna send for rma soon

top up a bit for the black is quite worth it,the price gap wont be that big now

black 1tb edi cheaper now bcoz black 2tb launched

pczone lyp got blue and black 1tb

they got the 500gb 32mb as well

but black comes with 5 years warranty,while the others oni 3,maybe im paranoid but it does give me more peace of mind

blue and green is 3 years,black 5 years

u can go for seagate 7200.12 or wd caviar blue,both is the most common on the market.if u wan sumthg diff can try samsung,they received good reviews

duno bout the seagate,but im using caviar black now.

a bit hot,staying most of the time at 40c,but performance is good,and 5 yrs warranty while the seagate oni 3 years

as long as its not touching 45-50c then its ok

is it a windows message saying it had detected a hard disk failure and recommend u doing a backup before it failed?

well thats the message i get before my seagate went dead .in about 1 week time after the message first appeared

if its not a windows message then u don't need to worry so much,but do extra checking just to be sure

the windows message not a one time thing,it will always come out to remind u everytime u start ur comp and after that every few hour

it appears as a notification on ur Windows lol

not more than 5 hours?thats bad man....even the 7200.11 i think shouldn't die so faz

my caviar black jz went dead (typically) 2 weeks ago.motherboard refuse to boot/read into it
