QUOTE(everling @ Oct 3 2009, 04:08 PM) I assume that your current Seagate is not a single 500 GB platter, so their performance is likely to be a lot more slower than any decent 1 TB and above. You can confirm by running some hard disk benchmarks. For comparison, the WD 1 TB Black maxes out at ~110 MB/s and Seagate's 2 TB monster maxes out at ~140 MB/s. If your current hard disk is substantially slower, I recommend splitting your new 1 TB into two or more partitions, then use the first partition for the OS and the other(s) for storage. The overall performance improvement should be worth it. er wat u mean by not a single 500gb platter?i split it into 2 partitions thou,1 for OS and programs and the other 1 for files like music, wallpapers and movies, and programs as well if my 1st partition ran out of space. running a benchmark?its dying edy,no way im gonna boot into windows and make it worst, will gonna try save my data as soon as possible. i think i will make a full backup image of the dying 500gb 1st then 2moro when i got my caviar black, will use it to restore the backup and set it as main drive.after my 500gb is back from rma, will reorganize evrything This post has been edited by ZeneticX: Oct 3 2009, 09:31 PM

jz feel tht it run a bit hot, other than tht its fine.
as for my half dead 500gb seagate, managed to save all data from 1 of the partition but main partition can't help much, always crash on certain parts, guess there was where the bad sector is.gonna send for rma soon

if its not a windows message then u don't need to worry so much, but do extra checking just to be sure
the windows message not a one time thing,it will always come out to remind u everytime u start ur comp and after that every few hour
