check ur bios, if +12v lower than 12v consider overload.

try unplug hdd check again, if still under 12v possible PSU under power.

+12v rails are the most important 1s....it'll determine the PSU's actual truepower

It is normal for some PSU to supply 11.8v as well. There is a range of tolerance +/- which won't have any problem at all.

HDD power consumption is quite low, one HDD consumer roughly 10-20W only.

1TB and 2TB different in power consumption could differ a few W only.

While HDD won't be spinning full all the time, in ordinary usage.

Especially for storage purpose one, mostly at idle stage.

It depends on what system are you running, in my case Intel Atom I use AVF 450W (RM60), for Core 2/i better get pure power supply or slightly better one if you can afford (usually around RM200).

Get a reasonable PSU.
Vantec ION2+ 460w @ RM150 is a rather good buy and its components is at a rather decent quality as well.

RM50 PSU doesn't meant can't support... but if anything goes wrong and it decides to pull your system down to hell with it, then its game over.

I've lost a hard disk to a bad PSU. It wasn't a hard decision to spend a little more on the PSU after that.

For the size of 1TB, if format entire HDD (not quick format type), surely take a few hours to complete. sweat.gif

Hmm.... I don't think so.....
First time using quick format with install WinXP is take up to 50min

Within week by week, i become slow and slow via copy, paste document or install software......

And 1 month later.... it totally become like a snail.... -.-"

So I try repair the window.... but resulting failed.... because it will to copy WinXP file into the HDD....

So I use up about 2 hours.. to format....

If as you said..... 1 TB need that much time..... then 2 TB sure need double of the time shocking.gif

For the HDD.... I had warranty for a new unit but haven't use it because I already install 160GB Caviar Blue....

As I gone through few website.... they had stated that Caviar Green have many problem.

I think you get the "advanced format" of 1TB which is not compatible with XP.

Quick format, don't need 50 min.
