OK only read this moment ago. To combine other country maps (For eg the Bali maps since i know U'r going there soon biggrin.gif ), U need mapsource another software from Garmin....

Let say u hv malfreemaps & you have also installed the .exe file for Bali available in malsing. Use the mapsource & combine both malfree & the bali maps & send the combined maps (Also gmapsupp.img) to N78. The instruction is in the malsing wiki if I'm not mistaken. However this method will resulted in adress search failure

Alternatively u can create 2 seperate gmapsupp.img i.e the 1st maintained it under gmapsupp.img & the 2nd gmapsup2.img using patchimg program. thereafter copy both files to your garmin folder

ok guys, need help. I owned a N78. I've got malsing maps installed in my garmin mobile, now I've recently downloaded an *.img map of another country, I want to installed that *.img file into my garmin but, whenever I copy that file over to the garmin folder in my phone, and turn on the garmin, it will always tell me to have an unlock code for that particular map.

So, guys, how do I get the unlock code for it? or rather how to I actually load it into the garmin properly? cuz, it might be that I've loaded the file incorrectly?

anyone can help?

To be used mostly in Malaysia when I go to KL (not familiar with the streets). Ok thanks for the links.

From the website I think Garmin Mobile® 10 for smartphones is the solution for me. Ok I'll go to Lowyat to search for it. Thanks again.

You need to go to Tools, Settings, System, Remote GPS and select Use Attached/Built-in GPS.

If you have done it the right way, there is an option for you to choose an External GPS device or Built-in GPS device.
The default is External GPS device.

In the first place, Have u buy the license or not. The license key is actually the Micro SD card comes wth Garmin MXT & probably Garmin's Malaysia maps...that Sharkteef mentioned earlier. .

The symptom u describe is very common for those trying to install without license.

No discussion on #ahem..here..

Garmin MXT is using either Symbiam or Window mobile platforms If yours is Symbian, should not worry.

Yes, tried it before. I think:
1) Both sides must be using GMXT.
2) Preferably both also similiar h/p device ? As it is sending SMS.
3) Both sides GMXT must turn on ?

1) Garmin that support location msg
2) Mine send from different device, but must support SMS
3) no need to turn on, once your get the msg, symbian will ask you to launch Garmin
note: this might not work if your contact didnt store your info in his/her phone memory... i tested on sim (sometime not working)

~waste 5 $$$ just for the testing
