U can get better deal & more choices from malsingmaps.com Vendors's corner  thumbup.gif Almost all the well-known GPS sellers are there inclusive those in Penang..u can get 2nd hand unit also from the Trading section

My advice..standalone is good such as those NUVI however if in future u wanted to venture into mapping, tracklogs & playing back your recording to track how many KM  of travelling, how fast or max speed or wanted to submit roads that not in the maps for mappers..u will be crying hard because 90% of NUVI (stand alone GPSr) cannot do tracking ore track recording!!  doh.gif

FYI, & others, the Garmin MXT that installed in lotsa Nokia..able to record tracks  thumbup.gif

Recording then export and view in map source, can see the dotted line rolleyes.gif

Garmin is good & there are lotsa pros & cons between using standalone & the all-in one Nokia/PDA GPSr

It's all depending on you..Stand-alone- big screen quick acquisition of signals BUT no track recording function except certain model (U need to check wth the seller which model having tracking capability

Nokia/PDA all in one - as said..all0in one easier to carry ...whatever u want from the gadgets..u name it all there... biggrin.gif ..BUT this all-in one having small screen (No good for older ppl), slow in acquiring satelite & etc

It's up to u..pls read more & do research at the link in my siggy (Malsingmaps)

Buy the cheapest Symbian phone & pair it wth the cheapest BT GPSr.....This option probably about RM600 2nd hand.. (Nokia 6120 classic + BT GPSr)..otherwise get 2nd hand all-in 1 Nokia such as N78 or 6110 navigator...~RM750 2nd hand

Which version u install?

Make sure u install everything in memory card.

Try removing the memory card and see if everything is working nicely or not, have u installed any other software lately?

Garmin shouldn't give any problem to symbian phone because there isnt any processes that runs in background except it do have some minor bug in N82 last time for # key in messaging for unable to highlight. But it is solved in later version already.

N79 is still a new phone so it might not be stable at the moment, check for the newer firmware from time to time.

For internal suka suka 30 sec suka suak 10 mins still red bar there

N79 confirm stable la. i ran 3 applications simultaneously.

1 - FM transmitter
2 - Music Player
3 - GMXT.

while transmitting music to the car stereo, u are also tying up GMXT voices to it. so instead of hearing "at the roundabout take the 3rd exit" from your fon, u get to hear it on your cars audio system instead.

however running the 4th app, will most likely make your fon die, or hang. not enough processing power liao. so maximum is 3. no more.

i dunno why yours take 30 sec. When its paired when u turn on the bluetooth it will automatic pair in less than 5 sec. It works same like your bluetooth handsfree. When a call comes in i only turn on my bluetooth. If need 30 sec i would have miss all my calls.

1st time u do have to scan and select device ma no meh ?

and i doubt u can pair more than 1 device. its either ur headset or your external garmin.

so assuming u're running garmin bluetooth, u can conserve your headset battery by switching it off no ?

yea like u said 1st time so what is the problem? Its only 1 time thing.

Yea either 1 is active at one time. If there is a call coming thru and i am using the garmin i will use loudspeaker.

But if u compare external GPS can lock fast and in any big structure places it still gets full bar.

Lol, ok sifu^^. Thanks for all your help. Been going for survey today, and unfortunately, Penang still post a high price for these gadgets. So, I am thinking of going for bluetooth device, priced around RM299. I am not worried about the battery life, that;s not a problem, since the car can recharge the battery.
