GTA IV need a quadcore for it to run smoothly and not even a 4ghz E8400 will help it run smoothly.

p/s:i can get it running at 35fps average on a 3.6ghz E8400,4gb of ram,a 9800gt on 1680x1050 and all other setting on the max but only after the patch and the 180.80 beta driver.

if i set it at 3.33 , i hav overclock my ram to 1000mhz and i afraid it will burn  laugh.gif  laugh.gif and my processor will be 3.5++ghz if not mistaken
Change the CPU multiplier to get to 3.33GHz while trying to maintain the RAM frequency as close as possible to its rated operational frequency. Check my previous quote... wink.gif
QUOTE(lex @ Jan 3 2009, 10:32 PM)
Since you have 2.66 and 3.66, then you might try 300MHz system bus speed (1200MHz FSB) with memory multiplier at 2.66 (for 800MHz RAM)..  and set CPU multiplier to either 11.0 or 12.5 and see. Should get you around 3.3GHz to 3.75GHz overclock..

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Jan 4 2009, 12:45 AM)
~easy tune5 showing my processor is running at 3.749ghz when the FSB=300 and 10.5 .... weird ... it should be 3.15ghz instead
Use CPU-Z to read the actual CPU frequency. nod.gif

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Jan 4 2009, 12:47 AM)
value ram or performance ram  ?
If you are using value RAM, try to maintain the RAM frequency as close as possible to its rated operational frequency. Slight overclock doesn't matter, just not too much.. otherwise you will have to play with RAM timings. cool2.gif

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Jan 4 2009, 12:47 AM)
so i assume CPU-Z also got the same problems ...my BIOS is showing 800mhz for ram and 3.15ghz for E5200 ...normal
CPU-Z may have a bug for detecting 2.66 memory multipliers. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, you can.. how far it goes depends on your chip. Test for stability for every step increase in frequency, and also monitor your temperatures. If you want to go much higher, then a 3rd party HSF is recommended. wink.gif
