for my mobo, if set auto, it go to 4+. make the ram speed is 1200mhz...try switch to 2.66.

i not sure if it run at 1200mhz when set auto , but wat i can tell u is , when i set auto , it run at 800mhz ... sweat.gif sweat.gif smile.gif

set it at bios d and it show 533mhz .... so i need to set either 4+ or auto to get 800mhz smile.gif

for SPD , i can only choose 2.66 , 3.33 and 4+ .... i cant get 2.0 for me to choose ....

so now my FSB : DRAM is 3:5 ...kind of weird
*
Indeed, your bios is set at spd 3.33, or if you are on auto, your auto has selected spd 3.33 --> giving you fsb/ram ratio 3:5 .What is your ram operating speed?? Well it depends on what is your fsb now in bios or cpuz.

May I know what is your mobo model ?

and in Bios, what is your fsb now?

In your sig, your fsb is 225Mhz and you are running at a fsb/ram ratio of 1:2 (equivalent to spd thing 4+ ??) --- > giving you 450 Mhz ram speed. Now with a DDR 2, your so called 800 Mhz ram(ii.e rated speed) is now operating at 900Mhz i.e being overclocked.

fsb:ram ratio you mentioned above as 3:5. It is not in tandem with your sig........ Are you talking about another setup or just a hypothetical case???????? Rather confusing leh.......

That's because your default bus speed is 200MHz, thus 4.0 x 200MHz = 800MHz... wink.gif

Since you have 2.66 and 3.66, then you might try 300MHz system bus speed (1200MHz FSB) with memory multiplier at 2.66 (for 800MHz RAM).. and set CPU multiplier to either 11.0 or 12.5 and see. Should get you around 3.3GHz to 3.75GHz overclock.. Any higher than this, let's say 400MHz system bus, you'll need DDR2-1066 RAM (using 2.66 x 400MHz).. hmm.gif

Note: The GA-G31M-S2L and GA-G31M-ES2L have 3 memory multipliers (FSB to RAM) but the ratios available depend on processor FSB strap... with a 266MHz system gives 2.0x , a 2.5x and a 3.0x... With 333MHz system bus gives 1.6x, 2.0x and 2.4x... With 200MHz system bus gives 2.66x, 3.66x, 4x... icon_rolleyes.gif

Your physical ram of 800Mhz rated speed is now operating at 533Mhz.

Now what is the fsb/ram ratio now??? That depends on what is your fsb as indicated in your bios/cpuz/occt etc now!

Scenario 1:

cpuz/bios fsb is 266Mhz

Then your fsb/ram ratio is 1:1 (equivalent to spd thing 2.0) , because your DDR 2 ram speed is 2 x fsb giving you 533 Mhz.

Scenario 2:

cpuz/bios fsb is showing 222Mhz

Then your fsb/ram ratio now is 5:6( equinalent to spd thing 2.4).......... giving you ram speed of 533Mhz also .

Scenario 3 :

cpuz/bios fsb is showing 213Mhz

Then your fsb/ram rato is now 4:5(equivalent to spd thing 2.50), giving you DDR 2 ram speed of 533Mhz.

In all the above scenarios, your physical rams of rated speed s of 667Mhz or 800Mhz or xxxMhz are NOT operating at their respective speeds of 667/800/xxxMhz.They all operate at 533Mhz!!

The question now is what is your cpuz/bios fsb??? Having identified your actual fsb now,and select the available fsb/ram ratio in your bios, then only we can talk about what is the operating speed in Mhz of your 800Mhz ram (rated speed)

In scenarios 2 and 3 above, your 800Mhz rated speed ram can NEVER operate at a DDR2 frequency of 800Mhz simply because the 'suitable ratio of say 5:9 fsb/ram ratio is NOT available in typical Motherboards.

Hope it helps. tongue.gif

SPD : 2.66
10.5 x 300mhz

3.15ghz but my ram speed in my CPU-Z is blank .... system is stable so far... will try GTA IV and see ... if it is not stable , the game will hang and restart

if i set it at 3.33 , i hav overclock my ram to 1000mhz and i afraid it will burn laugh.gif laugh.gif and my processor will be 3.5++ghz if not mistaken

~easy tune5 showing my processor is running at 3.749ghz when the FSB=300 and 10.5 .... weird ... it should be 3.15ghz instead

value ram or performance ram ?

i think got bug for easytune5...when i manually reduce FSB to 299 , it showing 3.15ghz ... when increase to 300 , bcome 3.8ghz alredi doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

so i assume CPU-Z also got the same problems ...my BIOS is showing 800mhz for ram and 3.15ghz for E5200 ...normal
