Thanks david
So far on my side with fw2.2:
- Bossprefs & SBSettings toggle is not working properly.
- Cydia is buggy. Gives random error msgs, random slow app install button loading time, random app installation failure, keyboard clicks in search even though the sounds have been turned off.
- Mobile Terminal crashes on load.
- biteSMS crashes on load.
- CallerIDFix does not work properly except in biteSMS, which has included a fix to this in their 2.2 version.
- OfflineMaps does not work. When a map is loaded into cache, iPhone Maps crashes on load.

Finally. Cydia works after restoring using quickpwn.. I'm not sure what i did wrong but when when upgrading a pwned iPhone from 2.1 to 2.2, I tried to put it into DFU mode and restore the custom using iTunes. And iTunes prompted me with error 1600. so i put in recovery mode instead and the custom firmware and, it works perfectly with custom firmware install. Thanks All...

That's why Error 1600. Pwnagetool got DFU helper as don't need to DFU on your own. From iPhone For Dummies - 2. 2G/3G Unlocking and Jailbreaking - Firmware 2.2 e) Always select "No" when you're ask if your phone has been 'pwn before' in the process of customizing your firmware. f) Do not proceed to DFU on your own since PwnageTool and Quickpwn has DFU helper as this will help to avoid errors e.g. error 1600. Anyway, good that your all good and running. This post has been edited by davidgary73: Nov 24 2008, 03:31 PM

@beavis68
Boss, u did not read the first post of this thread.
Please Read Before you Proceed!!!!! From DevTeam GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools. The ‘late 2008’ MacBook/air/pro line of computers have an issue with DFU mode. While it’s possible to go from Pwned 2.1 -> Pwned 2.2 (using PwnageTool), you can’t yet go from stock to pwned. If in any doubt use a different machine.
Use another older model mac to do as suggested by DevTeam.

As a note, those who have jb and try to SSH into their phone, I found out that if I don't install Bossprefs / SBSettings first, I can't seem to SSH. I can only SSH after installing either BossPref / SBSettings. Make sure of course you have the OpenSSH prior to all this la.
Added on November 24, 2008, 4:22 pmAnother observation is that Cydia seems to work best during the afternoon between 1pm - 7pm here in Malaysia. This means that it is not really Cydia that is buggy (there are minor bugs) but that the repo servers are jammed up when the other side of the world wakes up during 8pm - 5am. Hence the slow loading times and installation errors because of incomplete downloads.

David Gary,
Sorry, noob question on 2.2 upgrade. Mine is a NZ unlocked 3G iphone so I can do it via Itunes Restore (because it is already an unlocked set) or be better off doing it the IClarified way. If I do via itunes, Itunes must be 8.0.2 rite and I will have to JB again? Thanks Bro

davidgary seems to be offline so if you don't mind, I'll briefly answer.. (it's all actually been discussed in the past few pages except for your 2nd question)
1. You can safely do your 2.2 upgrade of iTunes because yours is a fully unlocked set.
2. It's best if you update your iTunes first yes but it is still possible to upgrade with the previous version of iTunes.
3. Yes, you will have to pwn / jb again.

I would suggest to use iClarified tutorials if you're gonna JB.
