Hi i am a new iphone 2g user here
recently i had purchase an unlock version of iphone 2g which come with firmware 2.1. however i cant find the application call cydia in the phone. I only have app store which from apple. So i just wondering how can i add the cydia application in my phone? i had read from article and it appear the cydia should come with an jailbreak iphone, however it is weird that my iphone 2g do not have the software.

hence, can anyone suggest me what i can do so that my iphone 2g can use cydia? should i jailbreak it myself using the tutorials provided from the link? it is an iphone 2g 16gb version which come with firmware 2.1

The seller may have unselect Cydia/Installer while proceeding to unlock and jailbreak using Quickpwn (Windows). Also, you may wanna check if BossPrefs or SBSettings installed as there's an option hide applications from the springboard/homescreen. Do check if you have install Categories as pps can be placed into folders.

If you still can't find Cydia, you can proceed to use Quickpwn and follow the guide provided on the first thread.

i think its best u jailbreak the phone yrself, upgrade to 2.2 or 2.2.1, at least u know what u did with the phone...

by the way anyone got source for iphone game ? either cydia or installer ?

Just proceed and Jailbreak your iPhone using the guide on the first post. Do read the guide carefully and make sure you're follow the steps accordingly.

oh ok than i had read the instruction a few times. well if something happen during the process, is it possible to unbrick the iphone? or the iphone become an ipod touch if it fail = =

Added on June 15, 2009, 7:47 ami try flashing my iphone yesterday and it end up i successly update the firmware to 2.2.1 with the iphone still unlock. however, i still don have any luck to see cydia in the home screen - -

i using pwnage 2.2.5 with mac osx 10.5.7 and itune 8.02 but when i flashing it and try to recover using custom firmware creat by pwnage it keep on crashing. i end up restore using itune - - i try to use quickpawn and it always automatic detect my iphone 2g as iphone 3g - -

any advice? thanks a lot

So, if you don't mind, i would like to know ,if i have jailbreak my iphone but did not unlock...can i still update any new firmware or update from apply thru my itunes. I am on maxis iphone plan.

If you update your firmware via iTunes directly, you will not have Cydia/Installer.

Since you're using Mac, make sure you're using the latest release of Pwnagetool and Quickpwn. Also, you may wanna download iTunes 8.1.1 and not 8.2. Download the iTunes 8.1.1 here @ Your One Stop iTunes Troubleshooting Centre

hi, im newbie iphone here. failed 3 times jailbreak my iphone. once reboot, its stuck at apple logo. then i restore back. already follow all the steps but still cant. im using itunes 8.2 and quickpwn. can anyone guide me?

iTunes 8.2 breaks your ability to use QuickPwn, PwnageTool and prevents jailbreaking process if you're doing it for the first time. Do read this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=25158204

Follow the guide provided in removing iTunes 8.2 and download iTunes 8.1.1. Quickpwn again.

Once the iphone been jailbreak, can i still purchase apps from apple store and load it in. I am anxiously waiting for the tom tom gps apps....

yes, you still can buy app from apple store, jailbreak means you can access your inner iphone system, some kind like c: in computer. and with jailbreak you can do more with it.
