I have jailbreak 2 iPhone 2G and 1 1gen iPodTouch using Quickpawn before, if not mistaken the Quickpawn (alone) process took about less than 15 minutes. Only the restoring backup data from itunes wil take more time if you have a lot of songs, video and data fiiles restored earlier.

Big week!

As anyone reading this blog must already know, this is the big week where Apple releases their official 3.0 FW to the public (Wednesday), and then the new iPhone2,1 hardware, aka the iPhone 3GS (Friday).

On Tuesday evening (just before the big Apple release) we’ll do a live demo of the yellowsn0w carrier unlock working on official 3.0 firmware. The actual link for the feed will be twittered by @MuscleNerd (see our twitter feeds to the right) and also placed here when the feed starts. The demo should answer everything you need to know about the new yellowsn0w. But it’s good news for iPhone 3G unlockers everywhere.

Meanwhile, we’re in the middle of testing our PwnageTool and QuickPwn tools, which will work with iTunes 8.2. The jailbreak of course continues to work on 3.0 for all devices it ever worked on, thanks due the Pwnage 2.0 technique released last summer. Our tools will be released no sooner than the Apple release (just in case!).

P.S. For the new iPhone 3GS, please don’t expect periodic updates about any progress we have or don’t have. Nothing gives Apple the upper hand like someone tweeting or blogging partial hack results. That’s not how cat & mouse is played That’s how the cat gets fed.

.. THIS IS REALLY NICEEE!!!.. so if the new yellown0w work then it should be ok huhu.i can unlock my eldest brother iphone later then. hope they will release it fast when everything is done.

i update my iphone 3g to v2.2.1 (no one told me that i can't update it even the seller.. sigh!)..
then i went to shop they said they can downgrade it to v2.2.0..still no use..then they made it to v2.2.1 again..
then i bought turbo sim (rm250)..can use 2g only..i can't surf internet with it..
is there any ways that i can use 3g without using turbo sim?..
i check dev-team blog every day (i bookmark their blog)..but i don't understand what they wrote..
is there any hope for me?

there a possibility the unlock solution for 3.0 will be release on this thursday, em i think you just waste rm250 because only 2 days more unlock solution will release.

the only way using it without turbo sim is waiting for the unlock solution comes out. there still a hope for you just wait for the solution.

Firmware v2.2.1 updates break your yellowsnow unlock.. Just downgrade it back to v 2.2, there is no big deal. Before u do so, pls download a tools in cydia to downgrade the baseband back to ver 2.2. Then, re-pwange again to ver 2.2. And run yellowsnow again to unlock. Then u are done. SAVE RM 250..

that means i have to update iphone to v3.0 right?
i think they (the unlocker) had tried this way..and they said no one can't unlock v2.2.1 (yet?)..even after downgrade..

What are you trying to say? Downgrade is to downgrade to firmware ver 2.2 and this is unlockable via yellowsnow. U said u accidentally upgrade to ver 2.2.1 and this break your yellowsnow unlock..

Yes..you need 3.0.

I would suggest that you wait it out as the software unlock patch will be out soon. More details and guides/tutorials will be available to facilitate the unlocking process. Do look into this thread for more info in the next few days to come: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/984406

hmn.. what do u think? I think u need to understand what is Jailbreak, what is yellowsn0w etc.. David had pinned lot of good stuff there.. Read n understand it, else u are lost forever...

During the pwange process, u have a selection to unlock via yellowsnow.. If u did not find it, nvm.. Once Jailbroken, go to Cydia and u can find yellowsnow there and just run it..

Your baseband is 02.30.03.. That is why you can unlock via yellowsnow.. This is firmware ver 2.2.1's baseband..That is a tools available in Cydia where u can downgrade the baseband.. After that, u can run yellowsnow to unlock your firmware 2.2....

Then, u can sell back your Turbo SIM to the seller..

The common understanding here is Jailbreak first. Then apply yellowsnow patch via Cydia or Installer. More infos will be available soon. Just sit tight and wait for more news. we're waiting too. All in the same boat. So, have a good day and take a chill pill.

but if his iphone boot loader is not 5.08 then he cant downgrade the baseband. anyway we just wait for the future update from dev team regarding new unlock, and to @vaires, em spend some time reading because it will be easier for you to do things with your iphone...

previously when 2.0 was out us 2g folks could update to 2.0 from itunes and remain unlock but without cydia. Can this happen again for 3.0???
