I've read all this throught, and looks like there's no info regarding iPhone 3G, 2.2.1 FW with 05.09 BL....
i was wondering if there were any news with it!!
i have the gevey 3g card, and it sucks, i keep getting and losing the cell signal all the time.
Cant wait for the soft unlock...

I'm afraid there's no solution to your queries and most of it is for 5.08 BL only. You may need to wait till DevTeam comes up with an unlock like "yellowsn0w" for 2.2.1.

As for your drop signals etc, there's not much we can help as we have seen numerous complains on using hardware unlock sim.

Any does format their 3G iphone before? I mean erase all info and restore it back to factory setting like new phone from Apple. I am now having the US locked phone but unlocked with the yellowsn0w software. My question is I am now going to sell it to others and would like to format it and erase all info inside and reinstall the yellown0w with the latest firmware. Is it possible to do so with the USA locked version? Please advise. Basically a guide on how to re- format and install the jailbreak and yellowsn0w are appreciated.

1. Enter into DFU
2. Restore (make sure its 2.2 and not 2.2.1)
3. JB
4. Re-install yellowsn0w

newbie here..been reading..watching...as well as digesting...all info from sifus here...but need sifus to clarify few things though...

1. may sounds stupid...hehe...; to jailbreak the phone u need a valid working sim? im in africa/accra...no valid sim yet..
then how to go about?

2.if able to jailbreak? then need to install Cydia to unlock using yellowsn0w/pwn..do i need a 3g sim? do i need to get connected to the net?

im waiting my 3g iphone to be delivered from the States...

p/s: wish im in Malaysia to experience the cool gadget...

1. nope.... u can just Jailbreak without using the working sim card

2. before u do Jailbreak, and if u wanted to use Yellowsn0w, just remember u have to restore it to FW 2.2 or else the yellowsn0w thing wont work

i just restore my 3g iphone firmware to 2.2.1... but its the process of restore was fail..
now my i phone stuck at black screen, with showing a picture "plug usb cable to itune"..
now itune canot detect iphone when i plug in..

i download the firmware at 1st game "3G iPhone Firmware Firmware 2.2.1"

actually i restore it because want to JB iphone..
anyone pls guide me and make my iphone work normally? i no dare to JB alr T_T

i tried the it step by step..
itune and iphone stil the same, no hv any instructions on the screen...
just i can hear "beeps as a USB device is recognized" from PC
but in itune, still dont have divice tab.. is that got other way to make it iphone work normally?

Hey guys now my iphone 3G is on Firmware 2.2, and is not a official unlock unit, if i want to update to 2.2.1 the only way is using pwanage right? cause from the information quick pwan or itunes will not reserved the baseband and yellow snow only support for 02.28 base band, izit correct?

Yes..Only pwnagetool will reserve your baseband thus enabling you to use yellowsn0w to unlock your iPhone. Just follow the guide provided on the first post of this thread.
