Not Everyone has Problem Same as me,first i iphone 3g which i bought from france around 156 euro,telco at there,working nicely with Orange.After i back in town,i change to celcom prepaid.No Service anymore.

FYI, my iphone 3g 8gb is version FW 2.2.1 and baseband 02.30.03.

i want to jailbreak and unlock it with pwntool 2.25 and unlock it with soft unlock. Is ti gonna work if i use this tools?

correct me if i'm wrong.

not sure if it is still applicable (as i read this during the launch of the first generation iPhone), french iPhones are unlocked yes but only within the EU region.

anyway, my first statement doesn't matter, as you can see from this list, france bound units are locked by nature, so it is no surprise that it will not work with another carrier i.e. celcom

My iphone is unlocked set running on 2.2 firmware with baseband 2.28. Now the problem is...i got itchy hand wants to upgrade to firmware 2.2.1. The reasons want to upgrade cos many tempting apps only works with that firmware.
Question is....is it a bad idea for me to upgrade the 2.2.1 firmware?

i had jb my friend's iphone bought from maxis running on 2.2.1 firmware with 2.30 basebahd, Seems like no problem in future.

if you can be sure that your iPhone is an officially unlocked set, then there's no harm upgrading to 2.2.1. although i don't see any significant changes that will tempt me to upgrade to that. i thought most games/apps can run on 2.1/2.2 & above? there's are specific apps which only work on 2.2.1?

i just upgraded from 2.2FW to 2.2.1FW yesterday... for most, ive seen good result which is less lagging and less crashing... the SMS getting flawless everytime....

so if ure iphone is officially unlock, i guess there is no harm like @teikwing said...

and if you are overly anxious, you can perhaps start downloading the new firmware first? that way, it is merely an upgrade away on the iTunes when you do get home.

One question, if I have a Iphone 3G from UK with one of the following:

1) Firmware 2.2.1, Baseband 2.30, Bootloader 5.09
2) Firmware 2.2.1, Baseband 2.30, Bootloader 6.02

There's no way it can be Unlocked?

With 5.09 & 6.02 bootloader version, you can't unlock the iPhone. The only way to enable call functions etc is to use hardware unlock sim like Gevey Sim.

1) Pwnagetool is only for Mac users, not applicable for Windows XP/Vista. You can only run Quickpwn 2.2.5-2 for Windows.

2) Follow the tutorial provided on the first post of this thread.

i just bought maxis iphone 2days ago, jailbreak the phone following exactly this thread procedure. everything great except i still could not connect to any wifi, public or private.
is it related to the jailbreaking activity or it just the setting?..using fw 2.2.1

My iphone is locked unit... that why i need to find the gevey sim 2 after Jb because yellowsnow cannot use right?
