Use Terminal/PuTTY and type this

chmod 0700 /private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook
chown mobile:mobile /private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook

chmod is used to change the rights while chown will change group and owner.

Do the same with "AddressBook.sqlitedb" and "AddressBookImages.sqlitedb" but substitute 0700 with 0644.

Yup. You can. Only the 3rd parties apps you gotta redownload only.

Err....pardon my ignorance. Does that mean that only iphone with baseband 02.28.00 can be unlocked? Mine is 02.08.01, so it can't be unlocked?

But they said that '....that means now everyone can use it'? it is confusing.

I haven't been in this 3G unlocking business so i am not really sure but i'll give a shot. I think what they meant by 'everyone can use it now' is that, everyone can now update their firmware (and baseband) thru iTunes and it still can be unlocked using the software unlock tool. Hope that is accurate.
