Problem lies within VGA System. For example my Panasonic LCD TV only supports 1366x768 , 1024x768 , 800x600 , 640x480 on VGA. If I go higher then that , it shows Mode not supported , if I go lower it wouldn't still support. VGA uses a different architecture and it doesn't know how to upscale and downscale

You'll have to switch to HDMI output (DVI-HDMI cable would do the trick). This is what I am using right now. What its doing is that my graphics card has an option for HDTV (most graphics card do anyway). So its outputting at 1080i (to support resolutions such as 1280x1024 and of course up to 1080i itself). What it does is that it scales the image (i.e 1280x1024 and outputs it as 1080i. The display thinks the image is 1080i and it displays it). Of course its not going to look great as your graphics card did some downs scaling and then your TV upscale it

Thanks for the feedback.
I've tried it using a VGA to HDMI converter provided by my graphic card, and the quality sucks...
However I tried using the VGA mode on my cousin's Sharp PX5, 32 inches, it works fine, able to run 3Dmark without any issue.

I did take advantage of last week's J Card Day at 1 Utama.  Bought a PV80 and besides the 5% discount, there was the RM450 Jusco vouchers (RM10 voucher for every RM100) plus a bonus RM100 Jusco voucher.  Collectively, RM550 worth of vouchers besides the other free gifts - camera, Nike t-shirt, s-video and HDMI cables - and the zero interest installment plan.  Certainly the best buy (for a PV80) in Malaysia.
*
how much price you paid after 5% discount?

talking about the real nett price, you cannot take the jusco voucher into the account as the voucher is not free.

basically, you pay the full price after 5% discount and jusco rewards you the CASH VOUCHER instead of the CASH DISCOUNT.

in the future, you are using your 'PREPAID" money (voucher) to buy other things from jusco.

the real reward is to use the RM550 voucher straight away for paying the plasma tv, is it applicable like this way? blush.gif

I think got that auto brightness/contrast thing and 1-2 features more but insignificant. But I guess they (Pana/Desa) may most probably be at this reno/home fair at KL convention centre next 2 weeks. Might as well wait just that little while coz most probably they may have promo by then.

The money saved can get you a few more BDs, hopefully. rclxms.gif

Regards.

Well, I am glad that I made a wise decision with the 42-inch PV80.  Excellent experience - 8.5 ft viewing distance in my bedroom. I guess it is my most exciting "investment" after switching to the Macbook.
*
Hi friend, viewing distance of 8.5 feet ok for 42"? not too big?

My living hall viewing distance is 7 - 9 feet, depending whether I sit on the floor or on sofa .... thought it is too big with 42".

Just my personal peasant opinion smile.gif

1) Panasonic 32LZ800 (expensive) / Samsung 32A650 (cheaper)
2) Sharp 32D30 (good blend of PQ, design, sound)
3) Panasonic 42PY800 plasma
4) Panasonic 42PV80 plasma (the LYN champion!) / Pioneer Kuro 428 (best TV you can buy)

The perceived value of vouchers is subjective and I agree with you. For me, the Jusco vouchers like petrol vouchers are as good as cash as I do my regular shopping, including essential items at the supermarket. With or without the vouchers, I still shop at Jusco.

Obviously voucher of a similar value or even higher, say for a premium furniture set or luxury goods means nothing to me. And the same goes with the all-familiar DVD player and camera that comes as "free" with a LCD/plasma TV purchase.

In my perspective and others familar with the J Card membership, J Card Day is a day we all look forward to year after year for big ticket items.

About RM3,500 for the PV80 is about the best price currently.  No way HN or BD or even independent electrical shops can match.

*
(no hard feeling bro~)

the above statement is true if the customer is paying RM3500 for the PV80. i can firmly say that HN or BD cannot match the price from the independent electrical shop.

im a regular customer from jusco too.

those big chains store always give something (ie voucher) which the customers perceive as a value. yeah, i agree that value is sort of an intangible matter. but this value costs customers money.

so, with or without the cash voucher, im still the jusco loyal customer but i have paid for the voucher if i have made one for buying big items says home appliances.

last but not least, the way jusco rewards its customer is an indirect discount. smile.gif

Really? Is it the same as the one in PY800? Cause when I turn on Eco mode, everything sorta gets a bit too dim for my taste. I still prefer Cinema mode though.

Turn "Power Save" mode OFF. This mode limits maximum light output and WILL make ECO mode really suck. It will seem a little dark at first but after a while your eyes will thank you. Also depends on where you light sources are. It ambient light is even throughout the room, it will perform okay. If you have light sources behind your TV, it will make your screen look dark. The point is the ambient light MUST be able to fall on the CATS sensor or it's no use.
