once my SA told me that proton suppose to deliver the car within 3 months. I got the car around 3 and a half month (plus the con case problem my mum had sweat.gif ). But right now right now most of the new car owner only managed to get their cars after waiting for 4 - 5 months. So i guess u should expect the car to be ready somewhere around the new year of 2009, unless u go to a dealer that already have an open stock or just choose open booking (meaning u dont particular on the color and transmission). That should be faster.

I bet the green color should be the fastest can get whistling.gif

this is what i found in the net that might be useful for u HPz

Under-inflation

If your vehicle's tires are under inflated by only 6 psi it could lead to tire failure. Additionally, the tire's tread life could be reduced by as much as 25%. Lower inflation pressure will allow the tire to deflect (bend) more as it rolls. This will build up internal heat, increase rolling resistance and cause a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%. You would find a significant loss of steering precision and cornering stability. While 6 psi doesn't seem excessively low, remember, it usually represents about 20% of the tire's recommended pressure.

Over-inflation

If your tires are over inflated by 6 psi, they could be damaged more easily when running over pot holes or debris in the road. Higher inflated tires cannot isolate road irregularities well causing them to ride harsher. However, higher inflation pressures usually provide an improvement in steering response and cornering stability up to a point. This is why participants who use street tires in autocrosses, track events and road races, run higher than normal inflation pressures.

Effects of Time and Temperature

Tire inflation pressures change due to time and temperature. Tires lose about 1 psi per month due to air escaping through the rubber as it stretches. If you were to check your tires only every six months, it would not be uncommon to find them under inflated by as much as 6 psi. Tire inflation pressures also fluctuate with changes in the outside air temperature. This occurs at a rate of about 1 psi for every 10°F (plus or minus). So the tires you set correctly with an 80°F ambient temperature will be under inflated by 6 psi at 20°F.

If you add the variations of time and temperature together, it is easy to understand why a tire's inflation pressure should be checked frequently. Improper inflation can cause tires to wear irregularly and can void manufacturer's warranty.

Another advantage of checking tire pressure frequently is that it allows a slow leak to be found and repaired before it permanently damages a tire. Tire pressures should be checked once a week, preferably before the vehicle has been driven. Spending about two minutes a week will help you get the optimum performance your tires can offer!

Our engine not suited to use RON92, the minimum is RON95, if you pump RON92 into it the ECU can compensate up to a degree before it starts to detonate and in the long run will spoil the engine conrods and pistons, but if you guys insist on using for the sake of few ringgit over the lifespan of your engine go ahead wink.gif

u did ur homework.as thats juz a rough result.its better to ask around the blm'ers here.FC is working quite in target and fine.so u can get better FC when u go along with it.Furthermore it all depends of how u drive and ur right foot makes the magic come alive.

I pumped full tank yesterday nite at subang and I drove to melaka this morning.Once I reach melaka. I pumped my car to the max.Initially pumped until rm25, the nozzle 'click'. I am not sure whether full d not so I continue to pumped.until rm28 , my fuel almost spill out.
so if i assumed rm25 to reach my full tank from subang to melaka.
total mileage 145km
Rm 25 = 145km
1 km = Rm0.1724
1 km = 0.068 liter of fuel

I am damn happy and satisfied for the fc after so many months. Still wondering why I can get 1km = rm0.30 here in melaka.Just because i din speed?the gap is so big man

a simple reason - constant change of gears and variable speeds ... on highways, there is only one speed and one gear at that speed.
u catch what i mean?
i drive under 100 in town area and 120 on bigger roads .. manage to keep the Fc above 11km per litre. cool2.gif

If i can measure it easily without dismantling the whole speaker board, i wouldn't have asked here. Measuring from the boot is not accurate at all. Besides, this info will benefit everyone.

Erm guys, my mom owns Saga BLM Full Spec Auto. But however, when i use it to climb genting, it sucks my heart out middle of the mountain!!!
I use low or 2nd gear, but the car just cant climb! Even on normal roads, oh shit, the car just can't switch between first and second gear... Is this a common problem for Saga BLM or its mine? If so, what is the root of the problem? How should i fix it?

i wish i can answer that for you. i am doing manuals .. so i ccant give you a definite solution

but i have friends with BLM auto doing just fine doing up genting with 2 or L
they dont really complaint about 1st and 2nd gear, it is only that the shifting is slow.

my opinion is this - dont press the gas too much .. just slowly let the RPM rev up
... and when the RPM reaches a certain roaring sound, let the gas pedal go and press it ...again - slowly!

AUto is fun to drive in traffic jams and cities ..
but ... just pressing the gas to the metal isnt really a good habit of driving it.

You try my auto and see, i have no problems climbing hills, i notice that our car after a good trash gives more power. I was driving my car hard the previous day redlining few times and touching speeds 165kmph and notice my throttle response was so much better the next day ,so wierd laugh.gif

Another thing is sometimes driver problem, when the rpm is dropping below 4k drop gear and rev it up to 6k before upshifting to 2nd and maintain a high rev profile for max power, campro is a high rev engine and most ppl are not used to it during the initial phase of driving it. There's a saying that a good driver can add 20% more power to a car.

SAGA is FWD...should be more powerful in term of climbing mountain
mine got no problem climbing....2k rev is enough to climb mountain....will never go over 3k....
sometime u saw the car move very slow when climbing mountain but as u see the meter is already 60-70KM/H already......

Guys, then i think my Saga has some problems then...
Its like, when it starts to crawl (pick up), it is damn like a cow, get what i mean, the gear won't change, u can feel it. You step on the pedal, the rev meter won't increase, you have to wait for very long, even after the engines warmed up.

My experience going up hills, esspecially genting, i put 2nd gear, oh shit, the car won't respone to my throttle input, i need to step all the way down, then the rev willl boost up so high, around 4k 5k, then it only changes gear or gain speed... if not it will maintain at around 20kph...

Eh, this is very serious...

Hey BLM owners, I'm interested in buying one but I've heard many saying the manual car is hard to drive..
I've tried it once and the common 'problems' are:

* slow reaction when i accelerate
* first gear damn hard to engage
* hard to find the balance (the point of releasing the clutch to enable smooth gear change)
* rpm drops very slowly when clutch is pressed to change gear (by the time you change to another gear... the engine like roaring d)

Is it because of the car or is it our driving habits that need change?? hmm.gif

What car you're driving previously? Must be a luxury car i think tongue.gif .. cause i drove a toyota corolla and honda civic previously and i don't think this car is that bad compare with both the toyota and honda i drove previously.. maybe i'm lucky i guess getting a trouble free saga blm..

1) May I know are u driving the auto or the manual wan? I heard that the manual wan has higher fc than the auto wan.If u r driving this car in auto slowly like how i dirve here in malacca town. my fc is rm0.3 = 1km while i came down from kl to malacca through highway is rm0.17= 1km. how high is ur fc?
2)new car i supposed bloew 2000km?it will improve after 5000km trust me.warm up ur engine before u drive. it will be a very big diff.
3)No cars are perfect mister. even a brand new bmw has it own minor problem. I had problem with my handbrake as well.drive ur car to the sc and ask them to fix it.
4)u r joking. proton's handling is tuned by lotus tech. dont tell me u prefer myvi handling. i think u need to exercise ur arm. offense.I felt more secured and easy to drive my saga out. I am proud of it

regarding question 4... erm... to be honest, i prefer the steering to be slightly on the heavier side. i have a neo, blm and also a myvi at home.. both the neo and blm's steering is almost the same. you need to work it out on the steering. as for the myvi, it's so light... TOO light it's scary if you drive it along roads like highways or mountain passes. just my 255sens. icon_rolleyes.gif

your car's fc quite bad wo.. mine auto m-line.. city drive RM70 can last for 290KM-300KM.. BTW mine already past 2nd service using semi synthetic 10W-40 engine oil.. are you using 20W-50 or 15W-50 engine oil? Heavier engine oil give better protection but fc is higher..

Is it because of the car or is it our driving habits that need change??  hmm.gif
*
1) acceleration for a 1.3 is acceptable if u r not comparing with anything more than that.
2) need time to get used to it, u can have the sc to adjust it to ure prefered engage height tho.
3) need time to get used to it too.
4) the engine itself seems to rev up a bit when u press the clutch due to drive-by-wire technology slow response. tat's y it drops slowly.

1) how high? depends on ure right foot oso
2) r u comparing with a 1.3 o some higher cc car?
3) bring back to sc to let them check
4) enough air inside ure tires?

Adrian get a thinner oil for your engine..
i recommend Q8 oils 10-40w semi-synthetic.. thats the best.. less noise more power, less lag and because its less laggish, you dun need to rev so hard.. so in away, u will save some petrol...
and thinner oil makes the engine lighter.. easier to pick up speed

Ya our steering is a bit stiff compare to other cars, takes time getting use to it, try adding strut bar it helps with the steering response, most of the regular TT members here including me added the bar and we get quite a good response from it. People who dono how to drive only will say its unstable...keke just joking, just know your car limit and you will be save, sometimes i push it too hard i get unexpected results like understeer and car jumping...

Just about to ask the same question. Proton put the sticker on my car, asked to go back at 15k but service booklet showed next is 20k major service. My dad said can wait till 20k only go do a major service, just follow the booklet.

if IAFM is in work it will have airplane sound rite... but when im driving at low speed @ 60kmph/2k rpm im still can hear da IAFM sound
*
Don't know who comes out this airplane sound = IAFM. My parent's old waja, using Mitsubishi engine got the same sound, exactly the same and even louder a bit compare to my saga, so I don't think the airplane sound = IAFM.

My FC report.

mine is saga b-line AT and has done 1st service. for travelling 290.3km, my blm consume 23.243liter fuel.

so my FC is 12.5km/liter or 8liter/100km. ok lah ada improvement. before 1st service my FC is 10.6km/liter or 9.4liter/100km.

yea it is almost the same size. It doesn't come with the service booklet. In my case, my SA gave me when i signed off the car acceptance form. The free service vouchers are white at the front and has its own carbon copy green colored if i'm not mistaken all with a watermark 1000km, 5000km, and 10000km printed. There also might be a chance that your SA totally forgot to give u the voucher.

If i'm not msitaken yes got serial number. I can show u the example, but need to wait for my mum to come back at 6.30pm lor

last time when i sent the car for the 1000km service, they took the voucher. i sent it at the proton edar authorize service centre.

Hmmm... if proton says so then should be ok. But just better ask the place where u going to service whether they can check or not. If not, then... need to pay for the labor <.<

My fc, 1st bar goes up to 31.5km,
2nd bar 105km.
Now on the 3rd bar. I'm not sure if this is normal. i wonder how far more it'll go on this tank. By the looks of it, it might not even reach 300km. It's only a 3 day old car though.
Apart from that, really happy with the car. like the performance and handling. Engine, MyVi a bit more quiet though.

fuel hike or no fuel hike, 350-380 on a full tank is really good (for this car la) for most modern cars, even 380 is considered bad, so proton really need to buck up la. sigh* this is a really nice car.
i've only done 105km and i'm already on the 2nd bar. and i really control the right foot.
but this is Penang city driving la. not much highway here. average speed is 60kph.
and, also my car hasn't broken in yet.
after break in does the fc improve by a lot? i mean, is there a really big difference?

yes, i agree with u. and as if our drivers already not slow enough, our Council still wanna put speedbumps all over some more. Pulau Pinang Darul Speedbump. and during rain right, i dunno why la, Penang drivers suddenly lose the ability to drive one. rain only sure jam.
I'm starting anti-speedbump campaign. Anybody wanna support me? Just say TAK-NAK, LOL

You all dont understand what is Stone chips izit? It will affect any car regardless of got wax or not.The thicker and better the quality of the paint the better it resist the impact of stones. Usually more expensive cars will have few layer of paint then top up with at least two layer or more of clear coat, but blm only has one thin layer, thats why when stone hits it straight away expose the metal beneath, mine is a black car so its more visible than any color. Who still say wax will help let me throw stones at your bonet better still use bb gun to shoot the stone see if it helps, and this is only a fraction of the strength of stones hitting your car at high speed. Now my metal is expose will rust in the long run sad.gif

I wax and wash my car twice a week myself and i get to see where got scratch and where got stone chips, you guys who travels highways often should check your bonet for any small expose metal.

As I said, my friend Civic has a lot of stone chip as well. You complained about BLM paint sucks but how bout Civic? So conclusion is, not all expensive car having few layer of paint. And also no matter how many layer, if you drive fast, once hit it will straight goes till the deep of the metal there, with few more layer won't help if you always drive fast.

you guys are bored izzit? debating on this kinda issues.. neway.. actually all cars will get stone chips, be it mercs or protons.. but cheap coated paints tends to chip of easily even if its just a slight hit.. if its coated with a thicker later it will just be a scratch. nothing can prevent all this chips from happening.. unless u wrap ur bonnet.. dun paint it..

lol obviously ching4ever don't understand about paints all he know is paint is all the same without knowing the composition of it. He dont understand is various thickness will resist stone chips differently, thicker paint resist better while thinner finish will be easily chip off compare to thicker paint , i didt even once say it will prevent stone chips with thicker paint so civic getting stones chips im not surprise but when compare with our car you will see the extend of the damage.

i perfectly understand what he trying to say, he says that all cars will get stones chips which i totally agree but i would argue a thicker paint finish would better resist the stones chips which he is totally ignorant about.

Is your thermostat indicator shooting high up or normal?
If normal shouldnt be engine overheating, somemore few months old car overheating problem shouldnt exist..
Try driving around somemore la, watch for the light if it still come on anot, if still come on frequently better send to sc to check.
One thing you can check yourself is the engine oil, see got enough or not..

according to the manual, "engine" icon ON means engine electronics problem ==> send it to SC.

yeah, i got this b4 after going through a flooded area (half wheel deep). the water must have went in to the buzzer switch circuit. i disconnected the buzzer socket (upper right end) then leave it overnight. next morning connect it back then no more buzzing. the water must have dried. the water channeling design for BLM not very good. some places in the engine compartment can enter water either from top or bottom but its not that critical.

last time i also encounter with the cooling/aircond fan sound.. during 1 night, i drove to a basketball court and then turn off the car and join my fren for basketball.. as usual, when u turn off the engine, the cooling/aircond fan will have a slight delay, it will only turn off after few seconds after u turn off the engine... so that night, the fan still on for about 1mins then i beh tahan and go back to my car, turn on the engine and turn it off again.. then voila, the fan stopped... any1 encounter this b4?

If got 1 solid & 1 metallic park together, I think i can tell the different la,
but if only 1, i sure i will screw up.
White & black color a bit easy to tell.
But other Blm color hard leh, especially silver & grey

it helps mine....each time i drive also heard rocks hit my car....side,front or windscreen....no scratch

Added on September 10, 2008, 8:27 pm
depends on the SC...some uses 15w-40...some use 20w-40
some personally use 10w-50 which give better pick up
*
Boss, if FC bad means bad already one, tank size doesn't matter. Our BLM has a 40L capacity by the way. A car with a tiny tank like a kelisa can give good fuel consumption. A car with a huge tank like an old Volvo can give teruk consumption. Persona 50L i think, but persona's FC is worse than BLM of course. Compare to other cars of same size, weight and fuel tank size and see? =)
those that i can think of are hyundai accent, toyota vios and honda city. of course u can say, that's cos they're way more expensive. but still, u know. just saying. after all, the talk of the day is fuel efficiency. So, much to learn, Proton still has?

Huh i thought IAFM is to reduce the torque dip at certain rpm levels, and in fact will consume more petrol when activated.. How does it save more petrol instead? hmm.gif

Quoted from paultan:

The Intake Air Fuel Module for the Proton Campro engine is now ready, and is only awaiting Proton’s green light to begin production. This new IAFM is a basically a variable geometry intake system, developed under a joint fast track programme which began in April 2005 by EPMB, Bosch and Proton.

We first heard of it back in October 2006 where it was still in advanced tooling stages, and ever since then everyone has been eagerly awaiting for the first Campros to roll out with the new air fuel module. The IAFM varies intake manifold length to suit different engine conditions - a short runner length for high revs and a long and narrower runner length for low revs.

If designed properly, this can enhance an engine’s torque curve and also help improve the combustion process, making the engine more fuel efficient. This is much-needed with the current Campro engine, which has rather relatively low torque at low to medium engine speeds. The IAFM can be fitted to both Campro 1.3 liter and 1.6 liter engines. The new intake manifold is made of reinforced high thermal plastic which is lighter than the current Campro’s aluminium intake manifold.

“Variable air intake is nothing new to current engine technology. It is present in many engines from other carmakers. We are just happy to be able to bring similar advancement to the Proton Campro engine. This is a team effort with our EPMB staff, Proton engineers, Bosch from Stuttgart and Melbourne and our Korean toolmakers,” said EPMB director of research and development, Zulkefli Baharuddin.

On a side note, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition to be held this December from the 4th to 8th will feature a locally manufactured hovercraft powered by a Proton engine.

By the look of it, it switches on according to torque, so u don't have to rev so hard at low speeds.

i got it last time for rm150, a simple reverse sensor with 2 sensors and a buzzer. U can get more sophisticated like 4 sensors and plus with a sensor monitor, but that one quite expensive a bit.

I removed all the things inside the trunk (spare tyre, jack, mat etc) and asked my bro to stay inside while i close the trunk (only for a while). He said the lamp is still on even when i close the lid (with him inside).

I also have problem starting the car if I don't use it for a day. Maybe the lamp draw power from batery and my battery is weak now.

Tomorrow will go SC and check

ehh guys..

I book this Black BLM right, then the agent called me this afternoon saying there's a white BLM available for me.
I really don't mind bout the white color tho.. but he told me the white is not metallic and he will deducted a RM450 for me.

I thought there's metallic white..hmm is there any?
And a RM450 deduction macam not so worth XD LOL..
since a friend of mine told me that solid color just cost a few hundreds and metallic need more than 1k..
the difference may be more than 450 i think..

Any suggestions?

break in for first time is not bad but eventualy best for ur new engine..as it will proper sit ur piston and smooth the system within it.good break in enhance FC.so u make ur decision.

Honestly don't try mini turbo will make your fc suck even more. Tried it and ask for a refund anything that claim to save fuel don't believe it as there is yet a device that can do that, only device that can save fuel is a block under your pedal =p

i manage to rev my car to 7k rpm already...kekeke

Mini turbo is just another micro compressor la, air leak device, you can build your own also for a few bucks. Useless piece of device i tried it and i refund it.

Mini turbo is actually a brassware for heavy industry, they just modify it and plug it into a hose and use it as micro compressor a.k.a air leak device = useless device, you can actually use aquarium stones to DIY this product if you want try. If you want see a "Mini Turbo" in a non car application go Genting Highlands and visit the indoor roller coaster , near the handle where the air pressure gate is theres a device to suck air exactly the same as mini turbo.Next time i go i try getting pictures of it.

Take a look here, non of them work :
http://www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/reports.htm
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/autos/aut10.shtm
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/ti...s-904/overview/

There are more on the net just search in google.

u can ask LambOfGod for the DIY..service for smoking headlamps cost alot..the most reliable shop in serdang is autogenesis beside southcity plaza..but the service charge is more than rm200...DIY cost u less than rm50..it will be better for u to but ccfl with that kind of amount, smoke urself and DIY the ccfl up..double return of beauty..

Why pay rm250 for a air leak device? Build your own for under rm10, same function that is if you drive carb.

are u sure ............my milage is already 8000+ i have rev it gao gao earlier like every gear pull up to RPM 5000 and i don't see any inprovement, the only inprovement i have experience is change to a lighter rim original is 7kg+ my new rim is 4.8KG.....and it give me 10% improvement in patrol consumption. and i am using those 5W-40 engine oil that suppose to help on petrol consumption also.........my RM80 now can last me 360KM for city drive........

ur 80 -90 % is ur own car? or u are porton sales man?

Sorry there for asking a out of topic question. Does Proton Saga got any problems with the disc brakes? Like Perodua Myvi have lots of complaint about worn out disc brakes or easily spoil. Thanks a million times.

plan to add reverse sensor to my B-Line auto as I find it hard to estimate the distance during reverse.

Q1: what is the std price for a reverse sensor?
Q2: Do installer need to drill holes on my rear bumper to add the sensor?
Q3: Can anyone recommend a reputable shop around Kepong?

thanks.

With current oil price, mostly can achieved 18 - 19cent per km average. Windows.. no comment >.> Boot space very large.

1) Simple 2 sensor 100 - 150, simple 4 sensor 150 - 180, 4 sensor with distance display 160 - 200. Sensors with camera and lcd, ask urself >.> But the price would vary depends on your discounting skillz <.<
2) Yup
3) Cant help u on this one >.>

i think u can neglect the steering lock and if u plan to change rim, juz go for 15" than 14". for bodykit, u can look for jack&jill, he offer nice price for bodykits! btw, do join our official club at my siggy below for more offers!
