could be brand related.. i am using LG too.. when i play movies from my usb thumbdrive it jerks badly on some scenes.. i even tried playing those movies on one of the fastest USB drives in the world (read Corsair Flash Voyager GT) but it still jerks.. sweat.gif

whoever looking for dvd player that can play divx movies from usb drive and outputs tru hdmi 1080i upscaling, get either pioneer or philips.. dont buy LG! LG takes ages to load the movie from thumbdrive and on some scenes it jerks!!.. rclxub.gif

It is yur display.
Usuaully... the cheaper it goes, the more likely will give u this problem. It is the refresh rate I guess. At 1 time, Philips was promoting their LCDs dont have this prob

i got the 410. region free and it plays any disc fine.. no comment about the 5996 though.. but i'm sure it has no problem as well.. dvd players nowadays are advanced.. not like last time, very picky about the disc we put in.

initially i wanted to get the dv-610 for better audio, but it doesn't come in black.. grr!

I got myself the pioneer 410 from harvey norman(penang) for RM399. Got it because they include a 2m pioneer HDMI cable... for what it is, i believe is a big bang for money... especially it has the USB to read thumb drive.

The sales guy mention to me that the USB slot only accept up to 8GB thumb drive... but, i tried with 32GB thumb drive, it still able to read... I also tried to plug the mobile drive, but, it doesn't work...

Thanks for the various comments from members - the 410 is indeed good value. Saw at Norman at Mid Valley selling with free HDMI cable at RM369 but no stock. Denki Mid Valley & Times Sq sell at RM379 but also no stock. Denki KLCC sells at RM399. Jusco AU sells at RM399 wth no HDMI cable Managed to get at One Utama at RM379. Works fine with my Bravia 40S400 in 1080p
