better buy DV410 (RM380 only) rather than NS708

NS708 No USB, and processing tech is far not comparable to DV410

I am still cracking head on which 1 to buy:
USB to me not an issue, but processing tech is far not comparable to DV410 sounds serious problem.
any article/fact on the above mentioned?

Sony is selling NS708 at RM299 + cost of HDMI cable (how much it cost for a good 1?)
And will DV410 come with a good HDMI cable?

TOSHIBA XDE DVD PLAYER XD-E500
Launch in singapore this december at S$199.Toshiba may have lost the HD format war against Blu-ray earlier this year, but the company's not giving up on the movie player market just yet. In fact, its latest XD-E500 DVD player may just be what the Japanese vendor needs to get back into the mix.

Introduced for the very first time in Asia (outside Japan), the XD-E500 has a rather unique proposition. It is aimed at enhancing DVD playback on HDTVs, rather than to compete directly with Blu-ray. While some may dismiss this as a stopgap solution from Toshiba, the XD-E500 does fill an important role in extending the life of DVDs which are still the dominant format in the industry. At S$199 (US$133.17), it is a much more affordable option for the mainstream crowd who have amassed a huge collection of DVDs to the expensive Blu-ray players and movie titles. The timing also couldn't have been better, given the current economic recession and belt-tightening.

According to Toshiba, the XD-E500 uses a combination of 1080 upscaling, edge enhancement and color remapping to improve the DVD playback quality. The company calls it the eXtended Detail Enhancement (XDE) technology, and this comes in three flavors for users. The basic Sharp Mode enhances details, the Colour Mode adds color richness, while the Contrast Mode improves the quality of dark scenes.

The XD-E500 DVD player is expected to launch in Singapore from December, with no firm dates yet on its availability in other Asian markets. The player was rolled out earlier in Japan, the US, Europe and the Middle East. In Japan, the XDE technology is extended to selected Toshiba DVD recorders as well.

TOSHIBA DVD has bad record for reading 'ahem' DVD
also no other info on this DVD player can read scratch disc without any problem from other forum like AVS or Google

So still Pioneer and Sony and even Philip 5996 won at this part...

Even though the XDE is not a complete failure, but it certainly not as successful as I thought it would be. I've been waiting for this player since months ago, I've already settled the 708, so it's too late. My DV400 is now taking the job in the bedroom. wink.gif

I don' think you will need a good HDMI cable. Just a resonably priced one will do.

You can go and ask, their number is 04-5392796
If not forgetting wrongly, it's RM380 as per mentioned.

Also best thing is, the boss can do a special cover for the quite 'ugly'(to me) speaker front look of RS-7 TODOROKI Home Theater Set that is currently very hot in the market as a entry level set, i was quite surprise to hear about this.
