i repeat again, it is not fur loss. But it born without fur. If it did not affect its health. We no need to take any action for it i think. My friend still will take care of it.
*
What I was putting is that your friend may be able to make it grow a bit more fur with the nutritional yeast. LOL.... I know it is not fur loss but then I'm giving you an idea on what could be the causes.... like adrenal tumors or thyroid deficiency because no one would know until the hamster is tested.

Well, I have never tested it coz none of my hamsters ever had such hair loss. From old age yes, which is kinda normal.

It is not risky, as cod liver oil and nutritional yeast provides the vitamins and minerals that are good for the skin, which can help in fur growth. This method is widely used and is an advice people give in websites and forums overseas. So if it is risky, I don't think vets would advice this loh.

Yes, almonds are best not given coz there is always a chance a bitter almond may come about which can cause death to hamsters. There are so many different type of safer nuts, so it is better to avoid almonds than risk it.

Hahaha.... I do alot of research before advising people. Sometimes I learn methods from my friend who is a vet.

Once I had a RC which had fur loss but at the weirdest place.... it's eyes! It would look like a panda with naked eye rings. I thought mites.... but we found out the problem. It was allergic to something in Prestige hamster food. As soon as my friend, the vet change the diet to the normal Habitrail, the fur grew back! Funny.... that's the 1 and only weird fur loss problem.

smile.gif you can either put in separate bowl or syringe feed it.
i prefer syringe feed, will not cause mess in the cage

Hm ... the method u mention is quite complicated... i wonder my friend willing to do that or not ... hmm.gif

lol, you're definitely looking at the right person. Hun has an army of different hamsters. biggrin.gif

hmm.gif BTW guys, I've never seen hairloss on the eyes of 3 years plus robos, approaching their fourth year. The usual is a lil hairloss at the rump, a lil thinner under the chin, the middle of the back...

The condition is totally foreign to me. I don't think it's aging problem. And 1 year old is just middle age for syrian. It's not even old yet. It's super young for a robo of course.

lol. certain bedding is not good. Any bedding with pine or cedar is bad for your hamster. pine bedding creates a kind of chemical that is really bad for your hamster's lungs.

So stick to beddings like chipsi classic or chipsi super.

sand bath wth flavor no problem wat. Why will have problem?

chipsi with green apple is pine bedding. The wrong bedding can make your hamster's fur fall off also lar besides being bad for its lungs. So don't use ok?

Lol, I dunno about WWs but I could tell all my robos apart from one another. And all robos look the same right? You just have to learn their behavior, the slight difference between each. and no marking is exactly the same. If you know your hammie well you can surely tell it apart from another.

No highlighter please... Newspaper ink is already very bad for your hamster, imagine what highlighters can do to your hamsters...

@ander: 2ft RM 40 I think ok lor. Ask for RM 35, make the boss say RM 38 or something la. tongue.gif

Nutritional yeast give one pinch and sprinkle into the staple food once a week. Cod liver oil the same, break the capsule and squeeze into the staple food.

Nutritional yeast once a week is good enough and will keep your ham in good health. Cod liver oil some hams don't like the fish smell and may not like the oily feeling. Cod liver oil I use less than half a capsule for one bowlful of staple food, so it's milder.
