Even 12hr running for 10yrs still can't get back the cost. Assume you save 15w compare normal fan. That is 15wx12hrx365dx12yrsx0.334kw=rm267.

So got to wait many yrs to hope it reduce the price.  sad.gif

You have a point, assuming the fan don't konk by then... think your calculation forgot to divide by 1000W/kWh

Say compare DC 30W compared to 90W of AC motor at full speed. Run for 12 hrs per day for a year.
The difference is 60W saved.

Annual kWh of 60W saved = 60/1000 x 12 x 365 = 0.06 x 12 x 365 = 262.8 kwH/yr

Cost of electricity saved @RM0.334/kWh = 262.8 x 0.334 = 87.80

Cost of Haiku depending on model and exclude installation assume RM900 (normal) or RM1200 (bamboo)

ROI normal = 900 / 87.8 = 10.25
ROI bamboo = 1200 / 87.8 = 13.67 years

tongue.gif still looking new? Such low ROI is not worth the price. Get the money into the bank for FD and get interest for safest bet. You will get a new fan within 12 years.

1 KDK fan - 290
1 Haiku Bamboo - 1200
Difference - 910

FD interest 3% per year, 900*0.03*12 = 328, assuming that you take out your interest every year. You get a new fan and you still get back that 900.

Anyone know the price of Avill fans? http://www.avill.com
I tried call their HQ, they only sell to Dealers, not revealing their price.
Few of their fans looks modern, simple and nice though.

Hi

Anybody considered bladeless fan for bedroom instead ceiling fan?

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2029260/all

Do you think it is cost effective?

The air not cieculated wide enough for this kind of fan and it is noisy. The price is not cheap also.

Two features can consider in fan models esp for bedroom use is whether they got remote control and off timer.

Simple ones like Deka has 1,2,4,8 hr off timer. More ex models like Panasonic Nami has 7 speed and also 1,2,4,8 hour plus sleep mode and Yuragi (breeze fuzzy logic).

These are good to pair with aircon esp on hot days such that aircond is turned on (manual or timer) to cool room first. Then when sleeping, raise temp slightly and if possible silence or lowest fan mode while turning on fan at medium or low. Wasn't Panasonic the one to innovate aircon and fan pairing (Bayu?)

I heard some friends who say that on hot days, the best combo is an aircond with a Nami fan. They swear by the Nami sleep function and off timer combo. The surrounding air in wee hours of morning already cool enough so no need to turn on so long. They on fan before sleeping and time it to off 8 hours with Nami's sleep mode to bring fan speed down gradually. Air cond off by 3 or 4. They keep aircon temp at 25-27. Combined with medium fan speed windchill feels like 23-25. Naturally will wake up when get warmer around 6:30. This strategy helps jimat lektrik also.

Yeah la, what I meant is 900 saving with 328 as interest after 12 years. Calculation condition is that the account holder transfer the interest to his/ her saving acc on the maturity day every year, so that there is no compilation of interest into principle saving. Ease of calculation ma. So hard to comprehand? 328 can buy a new KDK K14Y9 MP with RM50 balance.

How low is your ceiling? Possible baby fan with 5 blades suits you.
