where is the best place to buy ceiling fan in puchong area? brand like panasonic, kdk, alpha? any shop selling a reasonable ceiling fan price?
*
If you feel like taking a drive you may be able to get good deals at the lighting shops along old klang road. I find prices in this area can be more competitive than most.

Best is to check in the areas close to you before popping there so you know if the price offered is competitive. smile.gif

SS2 Legend?
*
Went to Wong Lighting and Legend yesterday for ceiling fans by KDK. For the 2 models I'm looking at, was quoted the prices as follows.

K14Z9
Wong lighting: RM490
Legend SS2: RM480

K14Y9-MP
Wong lighting: RM330
Legend SS2: RM300

Is this cheap? I've really no idea when it comes to electrical items.

Ended up getting Panasonic Nami Jr ceiling fan's for my house. Problem is that my ceiling is a little low but the Nami fan fits in just well and is way cheaper than the KDK alternatives which had more functions and were more expensive.

Bought the fans from Legend SS2 at RM385 each.

adrian, what is the height of your ceiling, measure from floor to ceiling? and when installed this nami fan, can you touch the fan?
*
My floor to ceiling height is about 9.5 feet. I can't touch the fan at that height.
The height of the actual fan itself is about 13 inches, its not as high as the normal fans which are about 18 inches.

9.5 ft is a good clearance. mine is 7.9ft.. i am in dilemma whether to install ceiling fan or not.
*
I would say forget the ceiling fan, save up some cash and get the Dyson stand fan.

A classmate in school got a really nasty cut from those normal KDK fan blades when getting over excited about an announcement of school holidays.

His cut required 8-10 stitches if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the advice. Actually 7.9ft is the lowest height out of all three rooms and living hall. No problem for living hall i think since it is more than 8ft. I am more concern about safety. And if i scretch up my hands i will definitely touch the fan since i am a tall person. Will think again on how to solve this problem. to put or not to put.

Added on February 12, 2012, 12:15 amJust to share out, just found out that the culprit of my low ceiling is because of 8 inch downlight. According to my uncle who did all those wirings, he chose 8inch because it will be easier for me to change bulb later on. Got much more low length downlight but will get a little tricky to change bulb for noob like me. Damn. He should consult me first before going with such setup. Anyway lesson learned.
*
Wow that's a super huge downlight. I'm only using 4" for my place.

tongue.gif still looking new? Such low ROI is not worth the price. Get the money into the bank for FD and get interest for safest bet. You will get a new fan within 12 years.

1 KDK fan - 290
1 Haiku Bamboo - 1200
Difference - 910

FD interest 3% per year, 900*0.03*12 = 328, assuming that you take out your interest every year. You get a new fan and you still get back that 900.
*
Calculation salah lar... What your calculation says is after 12 years you only get RM328 based on savings of RM900.

Yeah la, what I meant is 900 saving with 328 as interest after 12 years. Calculation condition is that the account holder transfer the interest to his/ her saving acc on the maturity day every year, so that there is no compilation of interest into principle saving. Ease of calculation ma. So hard to comprehand? 328 can buy a new KDK K14Y9 MP with RM50 balance.

my ceiling height is 8'2". is bayu 5 recommended? i need 6 fans, do u have delivery service?
*
Try looking at this panasonic Nami Jr model. My house ceiling also quite low and this fit mine just fine.
Can't remember the height of the unit but you should check first as 8'2" is rather low for ceiling height.

Fan looks small but air circulation is pretty decent.
