QUOTE(kimhoong @ Jul 1 2012, 04:08 AM) I have checked, both KDK and Panasonic models are around 380mm (around 14 inches) which barely leave 7 ft of space for my 8 ft 8 inches ceiling height. Check Alpha. They also have that kind of babay fans. From what I see, their 5 blades fan is generally shorter. I am not interested in Alpha, so I did not check thoroughly. But I have seen them on some of the ceilings, they looked shorter.Any member here has experience or knowledge if it is fine to get these fans? Also, besides KDK & Panasonic, which alternative brands out there with shorter dimension, excluding baby fans? Added on July 4, 2012, 8:25 am QUOTE(WintersuN @ Jun 29 2012, 09:30 AM) wat the difference between 3 blade and 4 blade or 5 blade? The first post say 3 blade will be faster and more air y ppl still wanna get 4 blade? I am only interested in KDK therefore I only checked their spec. K14X8-GY (4 blades) and K14Y9-GY (5 blades) are using different motor. The 5 blades model is having a higher input power (very less difference), the unit is heavier. However, the airflow rate is the same for the 2. 5 blades is more expensive. 5 blades has a higher 'stick'. That is all I knowplz tch thnx This post has been edited by lingleeyen: Jul 4 2012, 08:25 AM |

More blades the air flow is more "concentrate" but is nothing to do with more air. Correct me if I'm wrong. plz tch thnx |

Wind being wind is not going to give cooler, you just get stronger air flow, it just help dissipate the heat. If you have mist + air flow, it wool help cool down your room.
Fan are measure by cfm check the cfm rating. |

Superstitious belief aside, top beam will direct air to your face when you are lying flat on bed. Fan will blow the air direct to your face. Chandelier will collect dust and consistently drop on your face? Not good for health. |

Seems like besides Haiku, DC inverter motor fans could be the next trend. In SG, Amasco is selling models that use DC motor. Top speed only consumes 30W. That's about 2/3 less than AC motors do! They are under the Green Fans model mostly from Taiwan.

Hopefully the trend will force local companies to consider green fans in their design range and push down the price as they become more competitive. Amasco only sold in SG but even the DC motor fans are quite pricey. What about amasco? Selling here? The only place where it'll be justified is in the living room assuming if turned on for at least 12 hours a day, large family household. |
