hi all..

i wan to ask those who are working in Singapore now about somethings.. i want to so Singapore to work so what is the things that i need to prepare?what is the requirement over there? i wan to choose job is related to IT.. How long u all spend on finding work over there?
*
there's no specific requirement to work here. as long as u got a job offer n the company apply the work pass for u, thats it.

my experience is that it would be easier if u hav a sg tel number.

He might meant that chances are higher, as employer prefer to call your sg number straight away. They would assume you are in Singapore.

How long is unpredictable. I got my job around, let's say 2 weeks time? Then I went back to rest for 1 month, as application of my S pass took me 1 month+(manual application, not online application) sad.gif

yup i did get much more calls for interview after i include a SG number n address in my CV. biggrin.gif

of coz the best would be stay here n look thru the papers n websites, easier for interviews.

surely u still can find IT jobs here, but i guess its really not as much as used to be. really depends on ur luck too.

Would like to ask, for the e-appointment for PR application, when we go and get the ticket, will they play 'fair'? I mean those who come early but without e-appointment, will my number behind those people?

haha but malaysian people dem terrer kiasu when it comes to queueing up for bus though. We are seriously uncivilized when we see the bus coming in from far. Luckily singaporeans shame the malaysians into queueing up at the customs there. imagine if they didn't...it'd be chaos.

well..your e-appointment comes with the timeslot of your choice. so there isn't any fair or unfair issue there.

Wah, finally i have finished reading V1 and V2 up to now. It really took me weeks. But I still have some questions in my mind.

First of all, don't get angry with me if I asked a lot of question but end up don't work in Sg. I do have the intention to go SG and work. But there are a lot of things to consider. And most definitely not now. Maybe in 2010.

From what I read in V1, I don't understand what you guys mena by some employers like the big 4 will pay you the employer portion of CPF together with your salary. DOes it mean like we can opt not to become PR and contribute 20% of CPF to SG Gov but employer will still pay out the 14% to you and pay it together with your salary?

eg: Salary = SGD3000
14% = SGD 420
So total pay you get at month end is SGD3420?

That's practically the entire resume. If you want that kind of info from someone, you have to be offering them a job.

Yes. This is so that the non-PRs have the same overall pay package as a PR/citizen. The overall cost to the employer is the same.

Not really. Some pointed out that they have been delayed for around 3 hours from their timeslot. Quite a common case.

Btw, my firefox showing whole year e-appointment is full! Check from IE, April will available!

Wow if I can get such a package than it'll be good bcos no need to worry bout the money lay in CPF cannot withdraw, plus the extra would help in paying rental. But what If I want to apply for PR? Can I still request with my employer not to have CPF and continue getting the 14% in my pocket like b4 hmm.gif

Let me put it this way... this is definitely not standard and every company wants to only pay you the minimum. Unless you have skills that are desired so much by that particular employer, or are in a very senior position (eg. above S$20 or 30K per month), you will rarely get a chance to negotiate such packages.

ok. Was thinking if it is really like wat they say bout big 4 in SG offers this option then it'll be good smile.gif

What is S Pass?

What the diff between S pass, Work Permit and Employment pass? as in the pros & cons. Why some companies opt for this and the other opt for that. If we don't upgrade ourselves to PR status, can we change job?
