PcWork,
Even playing at high volumes, when I touched my T-Amp chip, it is just warm to the touch, ie no 'burning' sensation.. Something 'wrong' on your amp? hmm.gif

i owned this t-amp before.
china there selling about RM 330.
i asked my friend to carry it back from HK for me.
then in the end i solded it to nicholas, and nicholas sell it to TeoTQ.
=)
quite worth of money,. easily drive my NAD floorstander to crazy volume with earth shaking ability.

anyway. one question.
the T-amp chip runs quite hot eh... won't it burn?i added heatzink on it. also if when it plays. i touch the heatzink, i can't tahan more than 1 seconds.
seriously hot.

*
bro, I did add a heatsink on it but mine not as hot as yours, within 60C I believe.

lol...
i finally found the reason after the lyn down.
i measure the power supply voltage. which it swing more than 13V....
so. i had dropped the voltage supplied to the tamp and the temperature drop to normal. roughly 60degree i guess, i can press my hand on the heatsink now.
but the tamp so tahan eh. i on for whole afternoon with my new adapter. lol.
it is hot even though no song is played. so i trace back my PSU. lol.
keng......
on the time power is over supplied. the treble for the t-amp become SO POWERFUL.
lol
now the sound comes more bass.

It looks great. thumbup.gif
You are one lucky fella, always got such opportunity in the sense you need not build your T-amp entirely from ground level up. tongue.gif

who said i need not build the t-amp from ground up? i still did the mods and experimenting with different caps except smd. finally using 22.2uf. only thing lucky for me is to have some old casings laying around. that's all. in fact i want to put my t-amp into a car amp casing. up till now couldn't fine a suitable one. a friend is supposed to one for me. he is still looking. jp stock mainly plastic casing and the metal ones are too big. anyway still looking for another casing for my 2nd t-amp with 2.2uf vishay input and 4700uf pwr caps. a case that can include the pwr supply and t-amp inside. also i'll be putting two vol pot instead of one. the vol pots are 20k, not the small alpha type but the bigger alpha ( size around 20/50 cent coin) i have tried this type and i found the sound more pleasant to listen to.

any help guys to look for a good casing locally?

jazzy.
thanks. btw how is your bi amp? would like to know how it sounds cos i might want to try it. i have a pair of bi amp speakers lying around and now is only using the std connection.

Maximum V rating is 16VDC
Operating max is 13.2V, hopefully not exceeding 14VDC.

Just like my subwoofer LPF and HPF opamps, I upped from 12VDC to 15VDC... a lot smoother bass lines.

Those with knowledge of theory and fundamentals of electronics should make good use referring to chip datasheet info which are easily downloaded. Maufacturers are nearly always with conservative values for reliability, reason and its longivity. Modders will push it to its limits and likely fry it in the process. Just know what you're doing.

I saw an aluminium casing similar to one bought by Y.C. at NIXIE.
Saw it being displayed having a price tag of RM46.XX which I think is not a bad pricing. I do not know if they have it in stock or not as some of the nicer casing being displayed.. especially those slim ones are 'out of stock'..
The ones that they usually have are usually the plain vanilla type, which is kinda pathetic to me..
Honestly, DIY casing choices in JP are terribly limited.. mad.gif

biamp so far onhold. current single stereo is giving me much pleasure that I decide to enjoy the music first until there are urges for an 'upgrade'.. tongue.gif
Oh, as far as sounds are concerned, I have not tried with my T-Amp but have tried that with my previous amp, there are some improvements.. nothing to shout at or day and night difference, still I can live without biamping for awhile.. I just need to finish my buffer pre-amp first before biamping.. wink.gif

xtorm,
hey are you sure 13.8? Ok, will adjust my SMPS to 13.8, just a 0.2V from current voltage and see if there are 'some improvements'.. wink.gif

Please refer to postings by metalmania, the one with the map on the subject of locating a shop that Y.C. got his speakers binding post/sockets.
If you can find Pudu Plaza, NIXIE is just across the streen from the main entrance!

Hey! will you be so busy again for this weekend's TT Session? tongue.gif

Guys,
For our t/t session this weekend, do we go ahead with same time and same venue as originally scheduled last week? Let us do it with a bang and the more people coming, the more merrier the t/t session will turn out to be. rclxm9.gif

Y.C.,
Morning! biggrin.gif
Yep it's RE Spares! And my guess was right! (4-5 shops away from Maplin) wink.gif

I am voting for same time/venue and obviously the same kind hearted host! laugh.gif
Eventhough I have something on in the morning, I am confident that I can make it at the anticipated time..
Any new attendees than the previous list?
