QUOTE(Bonsailelong @ Mar 19 2013, 05:48 PM) Hi anevilx, welcome There is no rules on wiring and bending of your tree. But is whether your tree can take the wiring and bending or not? If you over bend the trunk or branches of your tree, you will hear cracking sound and... Steel wire is not advisable to be used because it will rust. Aluminium wire is recommended not only it won't rust but also easy to unwire when your tree trunk has grown tight. Cucur attap is quite a delicate to handle if your are a beginner. I'll say you should go for some easy species like Wrighthia "sui mui" ficus or boxwood which is much cheaper to begin with. wow..thx for the info. Now i understand why the aluminum is always being advised. Just asking, how much can we get a boxwood from nursery? bcoz i afraid someone will sell it overprice when they knwo i am the super noob in bonsai-ing.. thx yo

QUOTE(Bonsailelong @ Feb 24 2013, 05:01 PM) Hi guys, Remember this air layer done on the 01/01/2013 post 333. [attachmentid=3319507] [attachmentid=3319508] The result is just as expected. [attachmentid=3319516] The roots should be able to develop into a ball like shape in another month's time before cutting and planting it into a pot. Air layering update. "Harvested" my "sui mui" during the weekend.
The lower portion of the tree....

This casuarina have been posted my RObert Stevens yesterday!!! Very Beautiful!! bonsailelong, looks like you got casuarinas that can be made like this rite? Â Â Â No way! Sanfong got lots of awesome Casuarina materials selling from rm400 to 1k. Too expensive, just buy a small young tree for self satisfaction only. Copper wire is very expensive nowadays and I think copper wire is out of stock in the market in M'sia. If I've not remember wrongly, the last time I bought some 1.5mm diameter copper wire was 5-6 years ago. Why copper wire? Taiwan aluminium wire is at rm 50 per kg and China aluminium wire is at rm 45 per kg at Sanfong.

No wonder could not find it. ;-) Hope you will have a nice casuarina soon. Heard it is a very fast grower, so better suited to be a larger type of bonsai(talked to SanFong boss that day). Regards cj
