Nolah, not that place. It's actually, exactly BESIDE Happy Satay.

Honestly speaking lah, all those ikan bakar places right, no longer serve fish that I would place into my mouth. They usually taste like a cross between charcoal and pieces of dead skunks placed on a plate. I've officially given up on those places to eat fish. I only eat sotong and kerang stuff down there. Even the crabs they can get it wrong (omg wtf?) One time my crab came out looking like an overcooked tortoise and sure as hell would've tasted like it too.

My mantra for ikan bakar, is now....."If the fish is gonna be burnt anyway, I might as well light a fcuking fire and just put my fish there for 3 days" Probably be cheaper too.

Btw Soonlee, think about it for a second.

Why would anybody want to jeopardize their business by saying they add plastic to their foods? Ministry of health come in, mampos lu.
Secondly, TRY to fry plastic. Don't even need to fry plastic with food, just try frying the plastic. Your entire house will smell like someone from the movie Species (Cute chick btw) hatched a cocoon in your doorstep.

How do I know this? C'mon, I'm from a kampung called Melaka and I study in a university. What that means basically is I've got too much time in my hands because I never attend classes anyway, but I'm curious as hell and probably will score better in life than my 3.67CGPA friends. In the end, my friends and I had to throw away our pan and clear up the crap we caused before his mom came back.

I second that. I also officially give up on Malaccan fish. Something wrong with it, dunno why. I only eat sotong and prawns, the prawn here dem big, haha. I think they export all the stuff and leave the crap for the locals to eat.

Furthermore, the hawker fare here is really...#*$&. In Penang you can expect to see prawns and actual meat, but here all love to use oren colour sotong ball (i tot was carrot, haha), white colour fish ball, brown colour dunno-wat-balls. Everything they put is processed, no authentic meat whatsoever! And on top of that they charge you RM3.50, RM4 a plate, siao! The char koay kak here also...zzz...cannot taste carrot whatsoever and have to pay extra just for EGG. >.<. Dunno why people say Melaka is a food heaven...aside from certain seafood, chicken rice and nyonya food, its hell. And you don't always eat the former.

Wah pizzaboy you actually tried to fry plastic? Good for you! I wanted to try it out myself, but figure out it will probably create a mess and in your case it did, haha! I've yet to actually meet someone with FIRST HAND experience of this plastic frying thing. It has always been "my uncle said" or "my friend's mother said" or even worse "I read it on a chain mail!". This ranks up there with the china plastic seaweed and cardboard char siew pau.

Really starting to wonder if mass communication is fast becoming a place for silly ideas to perpetuate.

ya, the prices of food in Melaka is getting expensive, we must thank all the tourists for this great achievement notworthy.gif

I never heard anybody talks about Melaka is a food heaven, never b4. Melaka only famous with few speciality foods like chicken rice ball, satay celup, oh jian, nyonya food, cendol...but strongly disagree with u that melaka is a food hell. Penang is a food heaven, everyone knows it but can u guarantee 100% of Penang foods are very good taste? to be honest, Penang food taste drops so much compare to last time, this is based on my own experience, visited there 10 years ago & recently. No comment on price coz price sure more expensive compare to 10 years ago & location is the factor also. Can u say KL & JB food is cheap or expensive compare to melaka or penang? u cant compare coz it's the std price in big towns. this is why salary in KL is slightly better than other places coz many tolls, car park fee expensive, high std of living...

in conclusion, melaka has many nice food & "nice" is very subjective, we think it's nice doesnt mean everyone will like it. Like the char kuih teow in melaka, we use to add "sweet sauce" (ti jiu), but northern ppl dun like it, so u cant say its not nice. when we eat char kuih teow in penang, they dun have ti jiu but we Malaccan never complained. I have a penang friend who has been staying in melaka for more than 10 yrs, she told me she found ti jiu very funny to eat with char kuih teow coz sweet but now she uses to eat with ti jiu already. if 9 persons say the food is nice, 1 says lousy, then it's still consider nice, only not suit the other 1 taste...

hm...for me, for my jenak 3 rasa and siakap stim i prefer at muara sungai duyung. went there today, and had both fish. for me it was good and i prefer the atmosphere and treat at muara sungai duyong compared to umbai/serkam/pernu/anjung batu etc etc. its fresh and nicely cooked.

anyway, for lunch, i'd recommend Akrab Seafood (3pm-12m/nite, fri-sun) Cheng. rm40 for 2, fish, tomyam, vege, fruitjuice, egg omelette. cheap and serving time is fast. siakap 3rasa was good too. nearer than going to those ikan bakar places.

It depends. There are so many hawker stalls which opens recently. There are many imitators who want to grab this opportunity. I am a local was disappointed with some of the food which I have tasted.

i would like to know some good CRB (chicken rice ball) place also. So far tried Ho G and really like their char siew + siew nyuk. Its located at Batu Berendam, on the way to sports complex.

Another one is in town near the place where the uncle cucuk coconut one.

My fren brought me to an old coffeeshop in Melaka that supposedly served excellent CRB, but turned out to be normal only. I guess taste is a subjective thing.
