QUOTE(Ms Sim @ Jul 12 2011, 02:15 PM) the wiring is ready jor, jz need to install to do copper piping, i think still need hacking. i am still waiting for them to quote me the price... What wiring do you mean? Wiring from the aircon switch? There are the wires from the aircon switch (where you can switch the aircon on & off) plus. There are copper piping and wiring (3 nos for non inverter & 4 wires for inverter aircon) between your blower unit to the compressor. Depending on the location of your blower unit and the compressor. In some instances, you may be able to camouflage the piping. Else can use PVC trunking if it is on the external walls |

is the pana 2HP non-inverter piping diameter same with pana 1.5HP non-inverter?
I conceal the 2HP non-inverter piping, but now thinking to install the 1.5HP non inverter pana ac only, not sure the pipe diameter is same? I do checking on the pana ac catalog, the pipe diameter for 1.5 & 2HP is same, while 1HP is slightly smaller.....so it should be fine? Anyone with similiar experience?? |

QUOTE(kelvyn @ Jul 17 2011, 11:01 AM) I did not install a 2HP aircon. You cannot install the 1.5 HP to a 1HP copper piping another thing is my living room ceiling height is about 9ft, and the total enclosed living+dining area is roughly 360sqft (12ft x 24ft = 288sqft rectangular area for living+dining, and another 14ft x 3.5ft = 49sqft for corridor to bedrooms, and a small 24sqft for main door entrance attached living room, so total 288+49+24 = 360sqft space) I search some online BTU/h calculator and found 2 type of answer, some calculator give me roughly 12000+ BTU which means that i need to put a 1.5HP ac, but some website give the calculation like 360x60 (60 is like a 'miracle number to calculate the BTU figure) = 21600BTU which means i need to put a 2HP ac. the price between 1.5 and 2HP ac really differs a lot (~rm600+), therefore i am confused whether which HP to choose. FYI ,my kitchen is separated from this area by glass sliding door, and there is only 1 side (roughly 12ft length) of the wall (which is actually a glass sliding door to balcony) is facing South direction. My usage for the ac is only daytime can give me 22-26degC cooling, i am not going to put the ac temperature to below 20degC (like I am staying in north pole, hahaha). So i really need you sifu-sifu's help about the HP figure.... Attached thumbnail(s) |

im not very sure if i could give u an answer, but i just wanna say, its not as simple as calculating the total area and then decide how many hp.
some times it depends on the airflow of your rooms...i have a friend who installed a 2HP aircond, but then it couldnt even keep the entire living+dining area cold (he's living in a townhouse). direction of aircond blowing is important as well. |

What bro serofax said is very true.
Looking at your plan, you have placed the AC in the living room wall (party wall to your neighbour) From this location, only the living room area would be covered by the AC. You will not be getting much in the dining area. Unless this is what you intend. I would reckon that placing your AC unit along the 12' walls (balcony or the kitchen wall) would be better. To have better circulation, it would be best to have 2 smaller capacity AC placed at both ends instead on one large capacity. This was the advice that I got when I was planning my AC. |
