naturally, e8400 beat q6600 in gaming coz not many game design 4 quad core.

bt wen both OC max, q6600 kick ass.

E8400 you definitely wont use the extra 2 cores in gaming if you hardcore folder, then quaddies is 4 you

Dude,I wouldn't have asked if I've read in front. But the problem is I'm still gettin that speed even when I'm running games like Crysis

Prolly coz u overclock from 2.6Ghz to 3.6Ghz. Me stock speed only

By the way,you sure after open Crysis,then u go desktop and check CCC?

if u open Crysis then u go back check, when u switch to desktop, it automatically changes to 2d mode la.. Unless u use GPU-Z then u see the graph is still low not like high then low back when u tab to desktop, then ur driver or bios got prob edi.

well our gc i mean ati wasnt so optimized my 4870 only got 1982 ppd which is quite low you know..

Catalyst 8.7 I didn't even install whatever in the driver cd. Just straightaway download catalyst 8.7 then install it.

during gaming, alt+tab 2 windows & look @ the gpu-z graph.

I installed CCC from the catalyst software suite that I downloaded but I didn't install gpu z to monitor the clock. Does the clock speed vary when playing games?

GPU-z is just a monitoring software.

Ok. To update on my finding. My MSI 4870 unfortunately still crashing on me during Vantage benching eventhough it can now run a bit long before it lock up my system with a black screen. 3Dmark06 running ok and here is the result i got (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7776344).

Mass effect crash in game with the same black screen . Gridwar2 crash as well .
Try to use back the original driver from CD which is Cat8.5 but the fan speed hack won't work and Rivatuner2.09 won't recognize Cat8.5, so i've have no way to try out the testing on original driver.

Will give it another go later tonight, if still cannot resolve the problem i will probably switch to 280XT.

U did install PhysX driver rite?

How about try for RMA? or flash new bios..

The the OS is newly installed Vista home. No PhysX. Flashing a new bios might be the last resort but can this void my warranty?
