@muscaa,
Yes I just hope it will continue to remain that way; that's one of the main reasons I decided to swap my Citibank for MBB Amex.

@vin_ann,
It depends on what kind of benefits ur looking for; like what a forumer mentioned, he has a couple of cards; 1 to use at Carrefour, 1 for Giant, 1 for BHP, 1 for Shell, etc etc.

What kind of benefits are U looking for?
*
i mean for MBB card only. MBB Amex? or MBB Classic?

hm... i do think there is difference about the benefit between UOB ONE and ONE PLAT... and also i can't find generic plat card for UOB now.. does UOB already replaced their generic with preferred plat? For the one who want the fastest application , you can go citibank ampang for the application as it only took 1 hour to process your application. But only to existing card holder from other bank issued in malaysia..
i read on the banner it wrote if credit limit under 6k then the card must be 18 months old .. if over 6k then 12 months can already.. biggrin.gif

Yea , CIMB bank is the fastest so far i know, last few month i submitted my application at 21st Jan and approved on 22nd Jan then 23rd they called me up to collect the card at the branch already... laugh.gif

with the inflation getting worse everyday, i dont think Maybank or CIMB will maintain the reward point system like the current one for 2009

@vin_ann,
Sorree but I don't understand what Ur trying to say about the MBB Cards.

@Reventon,
You're right - Preferred Platinum is now the "generic" Platinum card for UOB.

@genkis3,
Yeah best to call the bank to check what the RM100++ charges were for; what was written under the description? Finance Charges?! If so, that's probably the interest charges for outstanding payment not made; u might have calculated wrongly *shrugs*

Or, could it be the 1% 'Admin' charge on overseas transactions?

It's a weird case for @genkis3 here, I've never encountered such oddity in my entire lifetime of card usage. What I could think of is (hypothetical guess)

- He have used the cash advance facility
- He may have inadvertently paid his card beyond the due date while keeping the 20 days interest free intact
- Some carry forward balance creeping into the current bill
- An honest mistake by the bank

The additional charges are charged directly into the individual purchases. It wouldn't have been charged separately.

I'm keen to find out the outcome of this case. Keep us posted @genkis3

@genkis3,
In that case it was charged because U were late; RM100++ interest charges for being "late" sounds like quite a lot - how late were U? Or, well it could have been because it was a big amoung *shrugs*

Nevertheless, if U have been paying to the bank on time and in full most of the time, U could alwiz call the bank up and get them to waive these Finance charges biggrin.gif

The onus is on YOU to make sure ur payment gets to the bank on time; the bank will accept no reasons.
#1 - U didn't receive bill; bank will tell U it did go out or U could alwiz sign up for E-Statement
#2 - U overseas/outstation hence didn't make payment in time; that is ur fault
#3 - U sent the cheque out but it was 'late' due to Pos Msia; U should know it takes a few days before bank receives the cheque hence U should send it out earlier

Somehow it's all ur fault! *grins*

If U don't want to be charged interest, U will need to make sure U make full + prompt payment from now onwards.

@Shinichi,
MBB Treat Fair is on this weekend @ MV. U could alwiz drop in if U realli want a MBB CC.

Btw I was @ 1Utama last night and saw this sign, MBB Platinum cardholders are now entitled FREE parking @ the Platinum Parking area. I've not much details but thought I'll share it with all here. Am not sure if it's applicable to Amex Platinum holders or not cause on the poster it reflected onli both MBB Visa / MasterCard Platinum.

tinkerbel,
Is it worth applying for MBB platinum card? Any annual fee waiver?

@muscaa,
I honestly have NO idea what benefits/privileges are accorded to MBB Platinum cards. I wouldn't apply for the card just to get free parking @ 1U [it's not like I go there all the time plus it's onli up till 1 Sept]

Also not sure if waiver is granted; perhaps it is for the first year *shrugs* There's probably a better chance of getting it waived if applied @ the Treat Fair?

I think normally when the bank auto offer you the CC, it normally annually free waive. But if platinum no free annual fees, its kinda expensive lolll.....

@Gary1981,
You could alwiz just take the Platinum card, use it for the next 11 months and when the banks ask for annual fee on the 12th month, request for waiver. If U don't get the waiver then do what TeraPox alwiz does; threaten to cancel the card.

Worst case scenario - Ur card gets cancelled.

there is no more 20days free interest ... once u got the bill there is a due date ... due date is usually only 2 weeks from the date the bill was printed. if you do not pay the full sum before this due date .. the remaining sum would be charge an interest of 0.15 a day ...
