hi,i wanna ask that i have a cat that he used to have flea problem, and i used to front line to him and flea shapoo, but sometimees he scratch and bit his tail?what is it mean?
also my mother cat she gave birth on is 12/7/2008 and there is something like black round around her nippels, shall shower her , what those black or brown around her nipples mean?
*
Biting the tail is normal, some even bite the 2 back legs.

Some believe it was a normal cleaning process. Some believe it was happen because of stress (like geram). All my cats do that smile.gif. my vet told me its normal, like all cats will do that, just like biting their finger/nails - to clean that part.

but, if you see that fur around the tail become botak, then something wrong, ringworm love tails part, so do fleas and tick.

and cat tail which is near to the private part, there's a hormone thinggy going on over there. if your cat is on heat, they will produce something look like oil. that area sometime makes it itchy.

if there's no fleas or anything, you dont have to worry.
if there's no blood or luka luka, you dont have to worry smile.gif

by the way, MITES (in bahasa - HAMA) may also love to be at the oil part of the cat tail... MITES or HAMA will also make the tail itchy.

-----------------------

For me to reduce this mites (hama) which make the cat body gatal2, i will atleast bath them one time a week. untill they slow down biting their body.

I will first your cat shampoo that have "tea tree", and then use cat shampoo that have "oatmeal".

Oatmeal shampoo i use the bak2basic brand. made from plant and nature which is good, less chemical stuff. oatmeal is good for the skin. put more on the tail if you see them biting it more than other part of the body.

if its stick to the skin also no problem. like fleas shampoo you must wash the body very clean so it won't stay on the skin.

Hope i can help you slow down the biting activity.

------------------------

black black around nipples is normal for female cat that milking her kittens. all will have that. it come from the kitten mouth while sucking the nipple, when the saliva dry it become black like "daki". mother will clean it automatically when she lick her self.

good hygiene mother will manage to clean them self, but not for some female cats, they have problem cleaning them self. which may need your help or take sometimes. after 3-4 months, if your female cat is not pregnant anymore, the fur around her nipples will grow back smile.gif no need to worry smile.gif

QUOTE(spidergirl @ Aug 22 2008, 10:56 AM)
Dear cat lovers,

I'm having quite a problem with my 11 yr old Hitam (she'll be 12 next month). She's been very much a loner nowadays, less affectionate and prefer to find the highest spot in the house.

She used to like being cuddled and stroked (for at least 3 mins). Now I can barely got a hold of her. Always wanna run away.

Her twin bro died in 1995 (the dude in my signature). And early this year I've adopted a 2 yr old male stray cat, Oren and it took Hitam about 6 months to get used to the new cat, being in the same room.

Now she's okay being in the same room with Oren, no hissing but still no licks and smell butts moment. But with the presence of new cat, she's been having quite a lot of tantrums like;

-She doesn't like to hang in the family area anymore (even though Oren's not there). But Oren is the one who always there, maybe she smell Oren presence around?

-Doesn't like to be cuddled and sleep beside you.

My maid likes to keep the cat out of the house cos she didn't like the cat to poop in the house (even when I bought cat litter). Argh.

Both cats are staying with my parents and I'm staying in an apartment. I'm thinking of bringing one of them here with me. Which one should I bring?

Hitam will take awhile to adjust to new environment. She's been staying here for almost her lifetime and new small place might take awhile to get used to. But I heard that small place is better for cats. Even when I brought her back to kampung, she feels more stressed (always hide under bed/sofa). And I'm not sure whether its a good idea for this as this might get her stresser to adjust. But with my stupid maid around giving her wrong food and habit (cat litter and letting her out), I don't know whether it might decrease her life.

Oren on the other hand is 'born' in the apartment place. He's a very happy go lucky cat and easy to take care of. I think he really loves it here, he blends in quite well with the family, except for Hitam.

I'm working from most of the time, but sometimes I'll be out to meet clients and run on site projects. So I'm often worried if my cat will be home alone when I'm out. Half of the apartment space is mine, so its not a prob. I don't believe in caging cats, only when they need to be quarantined.

So should I let them be the way they are now, in my parents house, or should I bring one of them here? Hitam or Oren?
Kesian juga dengar cerita pasal 11 years old hitam. She has been a loner for such a long time is it? And at that age of cat, she is consider senior. well you know lah senior cat, they act like senior citizen (people). all she need now is accompany and love. she do not need so much play and fun. but for sure need some exercise.

amboi, bunyi macam Akademi Kucing jer tongue.gif.. AFUNDI ELFREAKZ hantar ke 32999 gitu? ahahahah  laugh.gif

yang i bagitau tu base on experience saja. i'm not veterinary graduate anyway tongue.gif like people say, reading the book alone will not make you successful. You need to do practical and learn from the vet.  thumbup.gif

yea most of it happen to first timer female cat who become mother. Selalu nya happen kalau female cat tu belum cukup usia untuk beranak. very less happen to mature female cat. belum cukup usia untuk become ibu tu is about 8 months old tu 14 months old. mature to become mother is above 14 months old. but some cats ada yang successful juga. bergantung lah pada kucing. and yes most unsuccessful labor and pregnancy is from DLH or long hair pure breed cats.

Regards.
*
yeah betoi...experience is very important...sbb tu saya sdg "sucking out" all the info from you ppl punya brains...hahahaha to ensure me and my friends are prepared to welcome our newest adition to the family tree...

the female cat is bout 1 year plus...should be more than 14 mths, should be okie for pregnancy but apa apa pun dah terlambat sekarang sbb nasi dah pun jadi bubur ayam Mc D.

afundi ELFREAKZ...hantar kepada 32999...hehehehe.

hehehehehe...pasal friskies tu rasanya xder masalah kot...but nasik lauk ikan temenung...ermmmmmm
i was told by a vet long long long time ago...selaunyer we cat or dog owners(senang citer pet owners lah ek) suka amik kesempatan atau buan endah x endah wen it comes to the makanan we give out little friends... we should selalunyer sama sekali tidak patut berikan haiwan kita makanan yg berminyak...in this case if the so called ikan temenung tu digoreng!!! extra build up of oil in body is tooo bad sbb semua haiwan ada lapisan minyak semulajadi dlm badan depa semua...

adioz...nak tau gak kucing kamu tu jenis apa???

kitten and adult cat who has false landing will lead to internal accident which we won't know where - tails, bones, legs, etc.

although cats are well known as the trees climber, they do injured them self. so be careful with that.

kitten's bone problem may recover by it self. but very slow for adult cat - some may need to be cut or pin.

yet the best way is to monitor the kitten and cats.

they still can jump, climb and play around, hopefully there's no false landing.

give that kitten more time...

stray cats are very hard to train at this period. why? because they are abuse by people in the public. that's why they hissing at us, and afraid at us.

u just put the litter box, food and drink near him. than you go do your work without looking at him. lock yourself in the room eheheheh. let the kitten smell and get use to your house environment and slowly build the relationship with the surrounding and YOU.

if you have cage, try to put the kitten in the cage, with everything needed inside.

I think it depends on the type of food also.

With Eagle Pack Hol, Oren takes appx. 500gm - 700gm a week.

Got girl wink.gif

But I guess, somehow, quite a number of girls I know "geli" or "scared" with cats... I have no idea why shocking.gif

You know like when we eat at mamak and a cat comes by and walk under our table or chair, my friends/colleagues will jump and scream! doh.gif

Hahaha, you got that wrong ley...

Most girls wish that boys are similar to dog, but the fact is, they are not!

And very few people regardless male or female are similar to cats cuz cats are just amazingly unique on their own.

i think its depends on the number of cats you have smile.gif more cats = more food.

one cat = less food, 10kg can last for so long.

Yeah, handsome blonde, crippled man. Hahaha! Honestly, I'm not sure whether he's 2 yrs old or something. His passion on sleeping makes me wonder whether he's even 2 yrs of age. He did play a bit, but spent 60-70% of his time sleeping. You guys be the judge. How old do you guys think he is?

Hitam been a loner for quite awhile but she's happy with it. Now is getting more miserable cos she can't even stand being with us cos of Oren. Mid life crisis la kot. blush.gif

Attached Image Attached Image
Before Jan 4 (when first adopted at 2.3 kg) to Now Aug 7 (5 kg)

Attached Image
This is the reason why I adopted Oren in the first place. Got into accident and I used to feed him around my apartment and found him to be an extremely loving and patient cat I'd ever seen. Kena pijak by my grandpa pun he buat 'dek' je.

Attached Image
This is Hitam 2 months before I brought in Hitam home. All happy and cosy.

Attached Image
The day when Hiitam met Oren. This is the quarantine technique I've tried. Getting two cats separated for a couple of days before they really get used to each other. Doesn't seem to work. Aih.

Attached Image Attached Image
These are some of the captured tantrums of Hitam. Sleeping on sky scrapers, high furnitures and 'odd' spacious corner like this. She was kinda like this before, but not that often.

Both cats are somewhat peaceful cos they always sleep most of the time. I kinda consider bringing in Oren since he'll adjust to new surrounding easily compared to Hitam who already blend in for almost 12 yrs of her life.

But I'm also worried about Hitam's diet and lifestyle habit cos my maid is taking care of them. She doesn't like cat litter and always feed her (Hitam) with ikan goreng. I told her to feed boiled fish instead but she complained saying that Hitam always vomit at the end. Pfft..! She'll be fed with whiskas wet food pack for a couple of times in a week (only if there are supplies).

Oren is easy on food. He doesn't eat all the wrong food like ikan goreng and all, only dry food like Royal Canin and Eagle Pack. Strange for a stray cat, maybe he was adopted before. I don't know whether bringing Oren will 'strip off' his happy times here in my parents' house, with big garden and spacious area to sleep, hehe.

In dilemma. HELP icon_question.gif
