if no choice, then buy the hamsters toilet sand lah.. at least it's better than buying cheap but unsafe cat litter..

mealworms can escape from bowls that have rough texture.. i've seen mealworms climbing up ceramic bowls with rough texture and also cardboard boxes.. there was once when a mealworm escaped when i feed my hamsters in a box..

Not even in Penang, here in PJ i hardly see any non-clumping one. May be I didn't see properly, but every time I saw is those clumping, some more super clumping... Sigh.

But anyway, I only visit the pet shops near my place only lah. Any suggestion ? Pet shops near UM that sell non clumping one. Thanks

The bowl i used is 1 inch high and the worms is completely no way out liao... I try seaching the cage also cannot find...

Depends on how many litre lah... 5L is so so lah... 10L then ...

Pet Shack got postage mah. Go see their website, got toilet sand for Rm6.60 only.

Some of us choose cat litter coz it is cheaper.... especially those with 4 or more hamsters. If you only have 1 or 2, the small pack of toilet sand is ok to use lah but of course if you calculate, it is obviously more expensive than cat litter.

I found many non-clumping brands at Petsmore, can say got 3 brands.... just need to open your eyes to see. If ask staff, sure they dunno coz to them, cat litter is cat litter lah.

my ww rolls around in the bath sand but also poops there. DUnno if i should take it out of the tank or not and only put it in occasionally or not

jz put in there lo... i had 2 separate litter bowl and sand bathing bowl for my hammies.... litter bowl is filled with beach sand while bathing sand bowl using normal "apple smell" bathing sand bought from jusco...

yea, fortunately they didnt pee inside da bathing sand bowl... only pee inside the litter bowl... one hammy occasionally sleeps inside the bathing sand bowl (because its cooling during day time)....

you use hand to feed the worms or use forcep??
if use hand, sure they try to bite cos your hand got worms smell

not BC lah.. BC we normally use for hamster's bedding, not toilet sand.. it's those that look like big sand particles, but with cement smell.. hamsters toilet sand should be easy to find ar..

temp breeding = temperament breeding..

not sure if u should use beach sand.. if it's untreated, it contain a lot of bacteria & other microorganisms that could cause health hazards to ur hamsters.. stick to cat litter/hamster litter.. better safe than sorry

use forcep... but after feeding, i handle them with bare hands, they kinda nibble my finger abit...

once my hamster pees inside the beach sand, they dont roll on it... they jz roll on it when its new...
hence, each time i change the sand, i'll leave some old soaked sand with pee inside... jz a reminder for them that its a toilet...

just put abit of sand.. say 5mm, then change it everyday.. then no problem lu..

Er... Boiled chicken? They serve that to their hamsters OCCASIONALLY in foreign countries. Many people feed mealies to their hamsters wat. Nothing happened. My Ferro also eats mealies and you can see him yesterday sleeping like pig so nice. Roche also looks chubby and healthy ma, right?
