MAKE SURE BEFORE U BEGIN UR BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED

use NSS to change your product code and update using NSU.

Install NSS
Install NSU
Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
Open NSS and click on “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon « Phone info »
Click on “Scan”
Open « gsm-magic » without closing NSS, then push the button « Enable » of “gsm-magic”.
As you can see, now you can change the product code (on the right of the « phone info » window of NSS).
For a Nokia N85, type the product code 0561292 (Malaysia) or 0561289 (singapore) and then mark the case “Enable”.
Now press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close NSS and “gsm-magic” and you can proceed now with the NSU flashing.
When the flashing with NSU is over, start-up your phone.
or using phoenix software to update using APAC package.

Install Phoenix_Service_Software. (you can google for it cause im not allow to post xxx version)
then install APAC package http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V8FK3IS4

Using Phoenix

Run the program
Create User if it asks to.
Connection, select USB and apply it.
Connect phone, select scan product.
then Flashing then firmware update
select your product code and refurbish and do what the insturction ask for.

LASTLY DO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

to be safe go to a shop or your warrenty and ask them install it for you for a small fee.

But through my experience phoenix is much stable than NSU.  sweat.gif

NSS is Nemesis Service Suite meant to read and write to the EROM of a Nokia phone product. Reason we use NSS is to alter the product code to correspond to the region desired. Usually it is use to debrand or at some point unlock a Nokia phone. It is recommended to be used with NSU because once the product code is change, when updating with NSU... it will use the product code to send in the correct phone software meant for it.

The product code is at the back of the phone. I cant remember whether its at the back of the phone battery or phone body after you removed the battery.

It start with 0561xxx

You will see the product at the back of the phone when you remove the battery. It is labeled in the product stickers where the SIRIM certification stickers are applied.

For NSS, try searching with Google. Type NSS or Nemesis Software Suite. When you eventually go to the site, there will be instructions telling you how to change a Nokia product code. Just follow the instructions.

Well the NSS and troublesome procedures are only for AP phones since they are programmed with a different product code being originated from other regions. They won't be having local content and language. Thats why they need to change the produce code with NSS to a local one in order to get the proper language. If you're using an original Nokia phone, you can head straight to the update via Nokia Software Update.

Think they will charge it up for you too. Last time I sent my Nokia phone in, they told me to come back in 2 hours time. The firmware update thing takes less than 1 hour. Guess the extra time required is for phone preparation and also to give them more time to handle more than one phones at the same time.

It is very convenient to use. Now you can update your Nokia phone software with ease. No need to visit service center.

yes you can use NSU.

you are only advice to use NSS or Phoenix if you are having problem with the firmware update or
the firmware update changed your language setting corresponded to your AP's set regional product code which might not have Malay or chinese.

i think my earlier post confuse all.Opps Sorry. blush.gif

I seem to be facing some kinda issue after updating the firmware....now whenever i talk on the phone using the earpiece, the sound is sooo soft, even at full volume, i can barely hear anything. Switching over to speakerphone is fine, loud n clear even at vol : 4. But switching back to the phone's earpiece speaker is going back to the problem.

Anyone experienced this??
