if hard reset?? did the firmware downgrade or not??
*
hard reset wont downgrade your firmware. u'll have to bring it to svc centre to re-flash your firmware if u wanna do a downgrade.

I just figured out why my GPS isnt locking.

I recheck my setting for GPS positioning. Turns out I had Assisted GPS ticked and Integrated GPS tick. Now I went on and untick Assisted GPS and now whenever I on GPS, it will lock on the sattelite pretty fast. Almost instantly if Im near the window in my house or on open space.
*
ah, i been using the GPS with only the integrated GPS ticked. all the rest are unticked. Works fine for me too and the speed is satiafactory.

i did test out these setting but i have no luck cause it keep disconnected from the settelite signal 1 -2 second after it connected to settelite. hopefully the firmware update will fix this problem

Does your network operator charge use for this since u don't use A-GPS? blush.gif
*
if use A-GPS you will be charged on the transfer rate. only I-GPS is the one free.

I too have updated to firmware v11.047

So far I notice faster menu speed, and lesser time to zoom an image. Don't really have much time to test the rest yet... I will also look into GPS performance and camera performance soon.

anyway, on the GPS settings :

A-GPS will definitely incur GPRS (Data) charges but what about Network?

You're rite about A-GPS & Integrated GPS.

But my question is about 'Network'.

Thing is, A-GPS functions pretty close to Network, so what does Network do? A-GPS, if u read from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-GPS, says that it uses the telco tower (several) to triangulate your location and therefore assist the GPS sat to locate u faster.

So, that's the explanation of A-GPS, how about Network?

You're rite about that too but how about the Network??

By the way, I got my N85 updated to the latest firmware. Hrm, the startup and ask u for security code bug still exist. hmm.gif

Actually I too am not sure about the "Network" option. BTW, try disabling a-gps and see if there is still any GPRS/3G connection made

Working great... and got chinese, malay and english default language after changing the product code... no need go Telstra service center anymore...
YAY!!!  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

I can say the phone is now a bit speedier with the menu and animation transition also alot smoother especially when auto rotate. Nokia Map is locking almost instantly with only Intergrated GPS. Best of all is the accelerometer now a bit more sensitive to the movement than before. Will check out more tomorrow to find out anymore pros.

Somehow NSU was downloading quite fast at 130kB/s before crawling to 20kB/s for the last 30MB. Still managed to get it done though. Tomorrow I will inspect the camera.

how to update the product code?

I do feel that AUTO mode still sucks. Plenty of noise. Most of the picture here I shot using my own setting except one which was shot using AUTO mode and still can see alot of noise. Picture 9 is using manual mode, while 10 is using auto mode.
